  • The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School and Nursery, Morden
The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School and Nursery opened their doors and the forest in January 2019.

The nursery specialises in providing excellent childcare within the Ofsted framework and early years foundation stage along with the forest school ethos.

The nursery is about developing the children through play in a natural environment whether it is whittling or craving with sharp knives, learning the process of a campfire, looking at the different types of trees, mini beasts, fauna and flora.

The nursery is outside based between 60 per cent and 80 per cent of the day.

Our son has been attending here since September 2019. I cannot speak highly enough of the nursery. It is the antithesis of the other nurseries we looked at where children are stuck in a room with other children their own age all day. Instead, the children mix with each other, regardless of age, in a
lovely space which lets them roam free. But the real joy of this nursery is the time the children get to spend outside. I love seeing the updates of my son exploring Morden Park and getting muddy! The staff are wonderful. The nursery is small so they can take the time to get to know each child's needs. They are always smiling and enthusiastic and bring real fun to the nursery. My son absolutely loves it there and even though it takes me half an hour to drive there it is so worth it. I hate the idea of my child stuck in a room playing with the same old toys. At the Butterfly Patch, his creative play can run wild and so can he!

My son loves going to the Butterfly Patch. It is a great place and the staff are all wonderful. My son has developed in so many ways and he looks forward to going to nursery every morning. The staff are warm and caring but also professional. I would definitely recommend the nursery to other parents.

We are extremely happy with the Forest Nursery, we love the concept of trying to keep our son outside as much as possible but most importantly he loves it too and has greatly developed his skills. The constant string of ideas is admirable and the staff enthusiasm at the nursery is infectious. Have already
suggested to all our friends and would still recommend it to anyone.

The nursery provides wonderful activities for all children. They learn through structured activities and allow the children a say in what they do.
The staff work very hard and show great enthusiasm in their work.

The Butterfly Patch Forest School at Morden Park has literally changed our lives, my daughter has been going there for about nine months now and absolutely loves it. The staff are incredible, always going above and beyond to make her feel welcome, loved and included. The activities they do every day
are well planned and executed, she often comes home covered in mud with a huge smile on her face about how they hunted for bugs, built a den, jumped off logs into huge puddles and looked after the chickens. It’s always a challenge picking her up as she never wants to go home, that’s a great feeling.

Fantastic staff who are always full of energy and enthusiasm. Kids are constantly kept entertained, safe and interested in the world around them. I am astounded each week by the progress my daughter has made and all the little things she picks up. The environment is small and cosy but with great grounds
for the kids to explore. Cannot recommend this place enough!

This nursery is a cut above the rest. I moved my son to this nursery earlier this year and he has absolutely flourished. He loves going and can’t stop talking about all the things he has learned. The staff are friendly and engaging but most of all they care.
Children are children here. They play outside
and learn through being active and exploring the great outdoors. This is what young children are meant to be doing! Thank you to all the staff.

Our child was one of the first to start and my partner and I could not be more over the moon with this decision. The whole structure of this nursery is professional and fun at the times. The staff are not just incredible at their jobs but they have real-life characters instead of the typical robotic
structures in previous nurseries we have experienced.
The nursery is bright and ready for my boy to learn straight from opening and when he is collected, he tells us all about his adventures and we are amazed the things he has learnt. The manager is exceptional at running the place and you can see his passion along with the other manager and all of the staff. We are planning on another baby in the future and as long as the nursery stays the same, we would not hesitate to register them too. The nursery has grown quickly since it opened and we would have thought it would change the atmosphere, however, you would not be able to tell and the staff has taken it in their stride. The best nursery.

Brilliant staff all engaging and energetic and always putting the children's learning and comfort first. The way they keep the parents up to date via their apps is perfect. It makes me feel reassured that my child is safe and enjoying his experience. I love their concept of outdoor learning my 2-year-old
has really developed his understanding and language leaps and bounds since starting at The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.769)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.769) out of 10 for The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.869 for The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.869
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Butterfly Patch Morden Park Forest School and Nursery is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 number of registered child places is 8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
