The Old Station Nursery Houlton

The best place to learn and play, our boy loves it here and has made lots of friends. The staff and management are always on hand and attentive. The daily reports sent from his carers are always informative and helpful, we know he’s not only being looked after but he’s also being taught very good skills at an early age.

We can’t recommend Old Station Nursery Houlton enough, well done all.

My child has been attending this setting since it opened. Staff are friendly and have a lovely relationship with the children. Kind and caring. All staff are approachable and happy to answer any questions or provide support where needed. Communication is good. My child has come on so much with their development since attending this setting. They are looked after well and happy. Food is cooked on-site and the nursery have its own allotment where the children can grow vegetables. Would recommend this setting to anyone looking.

A great nursery full of approachable and friendly staff, my son’s room is full of carers who are attentive and lead the children in a lot of activities, and he seems to always have a great time on his days in.

I really appreciate the patience of each staff member and the lovely smile on their faces. Children have many activities to learn and engage with.

Really happy with The Old Station Nursery. My little girl started at 10 months and they have done everything possible to help her settle in. The staff in the baby room are so kind and caring and listen to what we want for our little girl regarding routine, sleep etc, and she has such a lovely relationship with her key worker.

The nursery is such a lovely environment, I have not had any problems since my child first started, and the staff are polite and friendly, always someone there to help if needed, the door at the nursery is great a lot of variety.

The nursery also looks super clean at all times which is commendable considering they work around kids daily.

My daughter has been there for over two years. Has had about 5-6 key workers in this time which has made it extremely difficult to bond with anyone. Received funding when she turned 3 years old yet still get invoices charging £9 for a half day and £18 for a full day for food which I have no alternative but to pay! No option for packed lunch as you still have to pay the charge regardless. On the whole a good nursery but due to the lack of availability in the area people are being forced to pay these prices. Do not even provide branded cereals or any other premium activities or gifts which my daughter has brought home. Would expect a lot more considering the costs involved glad she's leaving and starting reception soon, might be able to start saving some money. Those who receive the 30 hours of funding need to be aware of the additional costs involved.

I went to collect them, they were in a different class, the kids weren’t ready for me to collect. I walked into the upstairs room and our daughter popped out from a desk by herself shocked that I was there. I couldn’t see our son, I was shouting him. I got no help from staff standing around, our son heard me and he came running to me from a window ledge that he was sitting on by himself. I then had to go back downstairs and get their bags, coats, Easter bonnets (which were on a window ledge) then get the kids to find their cups, with no help whatsoever from the staff. Anyway, we have taken them out. We don’t think that nursery is suitable for our kids. We expected the kids to be ready and waiting for us to collect them but that didn’t happen here. All I can say as a mother, if you love your kids don’t put them in here. (Not enough characters to do a full review) We were disappointed with this nursery!

Wonderful nursery with fantastic teachers. The staff are so thoughtful, and there is always brilliant communication. The facilities are amazing, and there is a great range of activities for the children to get involved in. Highly recommend it.

Overall, I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a caring and stimulating environment for their child. The staff, facilities and overall atmosphere were all top-notch and I felt confident that any child would thrive in such a positive and supportive environment.

Absolutely recommended.

My son first joined The Old Station Nursery when it first opened up in 2021. We did move him from another nursery for a number of reasons and we haven’t looked back since. My daughter now attends the same nursery but in the older babies room and we are ever so thrilled with the high level of care and attention that the nursery gives to the children. The staff are very approachable and deal with any issues straight away. My daughter and son always come back full of smiles and tell us what they have been doing or what they have learnt during that day. Thank you The Old Station Nursery for making it such a warm, friendly atmosphere for our kids.

My son started at the nursery in March and I was so shocked at how quickly and well he settled. He’s made such amazing connections and relationships with the staff, who have bent over backwards to learn and know everything about him to make his experiences 10/10. Nothing is ever too much for them and he loves being at nursery, to the extent he will happily go to them in the morning. They have made my experience of returning to work so much more easier knowing he’s in such caring hands. The staff in babies 1 are outstanding and deserve endless amounts of recognition for their hard work and dedication to the children, it’s like a giant family not just childcare. Thank you! X

Such a fantastic nursery! They truly care about the little ones they look after, strive for them to learn and reach those milestones and they always go the extra mile. So happy we send our little one here

Our son loves attending nursery, he has transitioned from babies to toddlers and this has been managed well with good communication throughout the process. He has developed enormously through his time at The Old Station and the staff are always willing to collaborate and support us in the choices we make for him and our family. Couldn't really ask for anything more.

The staff are incredibly friendly and caring. They really do have my child's interest at heart and have really focussed their energy on helping her settle in. I would love for them to send app updates in a timely manner, not at the end of the day though.

Our children absolutely love their time at Old Station Nursery. The learning experiences, fun, activities and efforts to go the extra mile really do shine! The nursery has outstanding rooms and a great outdoor play area. All the staff greet us daily with big smiles! We would highly recommend it.

The staff are brilliant and all seem very caring towards the children. Lots of nice activities going on throughout the day. Management and room transitions need work, there is no good transitional period between room changes. Communication with management is patchy and inconsistent.
