All the children are valued individuals who are encouraged to be independent, develop self-esteem and self–respect and are inspired and motivated to do their very best. The highly qualified Early Years staff are passionate about providing all the children here with an excellent start in their school life. The Nursery and Reception teachers work together as a team to ensure there is a quality approach to early learning and care.

The only potential charge applicable is a hot lunch which can be provided at a cost of £3.50 per day but children are welcome to bring along a packed lunch. The most recent OFSTED inspection, which took place in January 2025, rated the Early Years Provision here at Springfield as 'Outstanding' along with all other aspects of the school's provision.

The environment consists of bright and colourful rooms and a large outdoor area that is both stimulating and exciting. The displays are rich and vibrant and there is an abundance of quality resources. A wide range of activities are planned every day and it aims to provide the highest quality early learning in order to allow all children to make the best progress and develop their abilities and talents as they continue to grow.

The nursery welcomes children aged from three years and is open during school term times, 9am to 3pm, breakfast club runs from 8am. Sessions run from 9 – 12 and 12 – 3pm (3 session minimum). I moved my boy (who is 3) from a different nursery because of his very bad behaviour and not listening. It was the best decision I could make in moving to this nursery.
The change in him is unrecognizable. They were explaining, not punishing him. They were and still are very kind and gentle and my
boy changed. I am so happy about it.
Also, they learn phonetic sounds so it will be easier in reception.

Springfield Nursery is a warm, caring and friendly nursery that my four-year-old has been attending for a couple of months now. They have fantastic free-flow play with a great outdoor space. My little one loves the outdoor mud-kitchen" He has grown so much since beginning and I am sure they have given
him the confidence to make a smooth transition to school. Would recommend to anyone!

Springfield Nursery is an incredibly nurturing setting for any child. The knowledgeable staff have been wonderful with my son, who has additional needs, encouraging his independence and focusing on individual support and development. The spacious free-flow rooms and large garden provide an enriching
and exciting area for children to learn and play. The school's SENCO and nursery staff have worked closely with us as parents to help my son reach his full, happy potential. We love it here!

My daughter started at the nursery in January and she loves it. She can be sensitive in new environments and had a hard time settling at previous nurseries, but at Springfield she settled really well within the first week and she's thriving. The teachers are amazing, they helped her feel secure and
were very supportive. She can't wait to go to nursery, she is very happy there. I only have good words to say about the teachers and the management of the nursery, they are always welcoming and available to parents' concerns. The physical space is great, and really well taken care of, with plenty of indoors and outdoors spaces, with freeflow to the garden. The communication with parents is regular, including the children progress on their daily activities. The children participate in the school assemblies weekly, and they also have lunch together with the school children. This is an excellent nursery within an amazing little infant school.

My son loved going to this nursery. The staff were all so lovely and easy to talk to and helped my son settle in very quickly. He went for a year and he was so happy there we applied for the school where he continues to be happy.
The facilities are great in nursery with 2 large rooms for loads of different
activities. The outside area is lovely and big and they are free to come in and out. I would not hesitate in recommending this nursery to anyone. It's brilliant.

Springfield nursery is truly wonderful. My daughter currently attends and is thriving. She loves to go every day and enjoys all the activities. My eldest daughter also attended and Springfield nursery gave her an excellent foundation for starting school.
The staff are amazing, truly caring and take
a genuine interest in the children. The facilities are clean and colourful with a huge range of play-based activities. My daughter is learning so much. Her personal favourite is the planting. I can't recommend this great setting enough.

My daughter has just started nursery this term, she is my 2nd daughter to attend Springfield Nursery.
I cannot praise the nursery enough. The children are nurtured beautifully. They have wonderful opportunities to learn and finish their time in the nursery and truly ready for school itself (one already
has) and the transition is seamless. My daughter that is currently attending the nursery is thriving, she absolutely loves her nursery days. I couldn't be more happier currently.

Both our children have been to Springfield Infant School and Nursery and they both love it. The staff are great and really care about the children. Being part of an infant school has lots of benefits as there is all the space and facilities you might want. The children also get the social interaction
with older school children and if they end up attending reception it makes the transition very easy and straightforward. No hesitation in recommending enrolling your child a "Duckling".

The staff and setting for this nursery are perfect for my child. The staff give such special care to the children and make them feel happy and secure. The learning is phenomenal, I am so proud of the knowledge my child has learnt within Ducklings. The resources are so varied, there are lots of activities
set out daily and the outside space is exciting for the children to play and learn in.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.964 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.964
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
