Springfield nursery opened in 2016 and is part of Springfield Infant School.

All the children are valued individuals who are encouraged to be independent, develop self-esteem and self–respect and are inspired and motivated to do their very best. The highly qualified Early Years staff are passionate about providing all the children here with an excellent start in their school life. The Nursery and Reception teachers work together as a team to ensure there is a quality approach to early learning and care.

Did you know? As a term-time only provider with school-based opening hours, Springfield Nursery is able to offer funded 15 and 30 hour childcare places to eligible parents at no additional cost! The only potential charge applicable is a hot lunch which can be provided at a cost of £3.50 per day but children are welcome to bring along a packed lunch. If you have any questions regarding funding then please do not hesitate to contact the team.

The most recent OFSTED inspection, which took place in January 2025, rated the Early Years Provision here at Springfield as 'Outstanding' along with all other aspects of the school's provision.

The environment consists of bright and colourful rooms and a large outdoor area that is both stimulating and exciting. The displays are rich and vibrant and there is an abundance of quality resources. A wide range of activities are planned every day and it aims to provide the highest quality early learning in order to allow all children to make the best progress and develop their abilities and talents as they continue to grow.

The nursery welcomes children aged from three years and is open during school term times, 9am to 3pm, breakfast club runs from 8am. Sessions run from 9 – 12 and 12 – 3pm (3 session minimum). The 15 and 30 hour funded nursery provision is available and a hot meal at lunchtime is available for children who wish to have one.

My son joined in January. They have made him feel comfortable and confident and enjoys attending. They have also made me feel very comfortable. My son has come on with development stages and tells me how much he enjoys being there.

I am happy with Springfield nursery. We have the best teachers. My daughter's learning different activities each day. She loves numbers and letters. She's learning how to spell her name. Also, the photonics alphabet is so useful.

Great little nursery that gave my August-born son the head start and extra confidence he needed to start school! Highly recommend it to anyone thinking of sending their little ones to the school. They keep to the school's routine and take part in activities with the reception children so the nursery
is fully involved with the school experience. Has the added bonus of being able to teach phonics as it is part of the school (most nurseries are discouraged from teaching very basic phonics as different schools teach phonics differently so it can be confusing). Communication is great! They use an app, which is updated daily, and there are parent's evenings as well as usual opportunities at drop off and pick up. My son is in reception now, and the transition was seamless, and he already had so many friends. The teachers already knew him too, which was an added bonus. Sending my son here was the best decision we could have made for him, especially as he is one of the youngest in his class.

My son loves his nursery very much. He had hated his previous nursery. Now he is fine with the new one. The teachers are very good, and he is pretty good at toileting now. Thank you very much to all the staff.

Springfield is great.
My son joined Springfield last year and he loves it. As a parent, it is very important to be informed of the progress of my child on a regular basis. At Springfield, I get informed by e-mail/phone of all the activities and progress.
The benefits are, It is super clean, loads
of activities and plenty of space. These guys care.
I thank everyone.

I think choosing Springfield Nursery as a nursery for our son was the best decision. My son had always been well looked after, and I knew I could rely on the people who work there. My son enjoyed every day at ducklings; he made good friends and learnt a lot. The fact the nursery is part of the school
is also really important. I would recomend that nursery to everyone. Huge thank you to the nursery staff for making that place such a good place for children.

My son is just about to graduate from Ducklings at Springfield Nursery and wow, what a lovely, fun time it is been!
The staff are all absolutely wonderful and have made the transition from nursery to reception super smooth and easy for my anxious child. The communication has been fantastic, and seeing
my son thrive trying out different activities has been lovely.
The nursery setting for learning and play is great. Beautiful large outdoor areas with climbing apparatus and shady trees and inside, colourful classrooms where the children can free flow.
The staff have made my sons time at Springfield Nursery so positive and uplifting that he is excited and intrigued to start reception after the summer!

Springfield nursery is a truly wonderful and nurturing space for children. My daughter has loved her time as a Duckling and looks forward to each day with excitement. We have been so impressed not only with the quality of learning but how fun it's been along the way. The classroom and garden are lovely
spaces, and the teachers are fantastic. Highly recommend.

My daughter has been at Springfield Nursery since April 2021 and has enjoyed every moment! There is always a variety of activities each day, plus 2 wonderful outdoor areas for the children to play in and a large indoor space filled with arts and crafts, toys, educational equipment, and so much more.
The staff are so kind and caring and have really helped my daughter to settle in and increase her confidence around other children.
This is my second child to attend Springfield Nursery, my son had a similarly wonderful time there a few years ago.
When I ask my daughter what she loves best about going to nursery, she always replies, “I love all the things”! I would wholeheartedly recommend Springfield to any prospective parents.

Springfield Nursery is a lovely, caring and nurturing environment. The staff are all fantastic, and I couldn't fault a thing. My daughter is so happy going and has nothing but positive things to say about her days at nursery. Being part of the school is great for transition, and the children get the
bonus of being included in school activities where appropriate. I would highly recommend the nursery without hesitation. Thank you, Springfield!

Great nursery, a great place for the child to grow, discover and get new skills. The teachers are amazing; they are all really friendly and supportive. Any problem or query I've got always gets resolved straight away. I always feel I can trust them, and they take good care of my son. My son loves to
spend time there, he says he likes to go to nursery as they are his friends, and they always have good fun. I feel he's learnt a lot since he started going to Springfield, which is really important for us, especially because English is his second language. I would recomend the nursery to everyone.

Springfield nursery is a truly wonderful nursery, and my son loves it!
The staff are welcoming, kind and caring, and the communication from the school/nursery is excellent. The nursery classroom is set out in different zones and is very well resourced both for play and educational opportunities. The
outside area is beautiful; the children have a large space to explore that is also very well resourced. While visitors haven’t been allowed for a majority of the year, they do now have a lovely yoga instructor back to further enrich the children’s nursery experience. My son has had a wonderful time at the nursery, and we are delighted that he will continue into reception there. We love Springfield Nursery/Infant School and most definitely would highly recommend it to anyone!

My little girl started at Springfield Nursery in March 2021 after having never been away from me, and she has settled in so well. Due to the pandemic, I didn't really have the opportunity to visit many nurseries, but I did talk to lots of parents in the park near me, and they all said it was a lovely
school and nursery. Springfield Nursery gave us an hour with the rest of the Ducklings before she started, and I was very happy to see my little girl just getting stuck in so to say and not really needing me. The staff have been there for many years and are all lovely, attentive and caring, and my little girl always comes running out yelling that she had a great time! They send me pictures of her activities as well as the class days like reptile day. It's an infant school as well, and I believe it will really be a bonus to be happy with the setting when she moves up into reception. Brilliant outdoors and indoors.

My son has been attending Springfield Nursery since March 2020. Since then, we have had a couple of lockdowns, and each time, my son has been so anxious to start. However, the staff have been amazing, they put him on a special plan to help with the anxiety at drop off time, and he has come on leaps
and bounds. He is so much more confident and absolutely loves nursery and the teachers. He is very excited to start Springfield infant school in September!

My son joined Springfield Nursery when he was there years old. He really enjoyed his time here. The staff are great - very nurturing. There is great interaction with the rest of the school - reception in particular - so it has been a great pre-cursor to starting school at Springfield. I would highly
recommend this nursery.

My daughter is currently transitioning to reception having had the most wonderful start at Springfield Nursery. The setting is calm and well organised with plenty of activities to suit a child’s interests. The outside space is fantastic and I love that the children can free flow into this as they wish.
The nursery staff are just brilliant, nurturing for our little ones and friendly and available for us parents. I love how the nursery is integrated with the rest of the school and the children take part in all of the regular school activities, assemblies, plays, festivals etc and this coupled with the way the staff prepare the Ducklings by beginning the literacy and numeracy learning means that the transition to reception is seamless. I would highly recommend Springfield Nursery to other parents wanting a great start for their children.

It's hard to put into words the wonderful experience my daughter has had at Springfield Nursery. The teachers are loving, know each of the children well, are calm and adaptable to different preferences or simulations. The environment is spacious, I particularly love the outside area and garden where
the children seem to really come to life. I chose Springfield as I liked the idea of my daughter having a stepping stone before starting school - it has offered so much more than we expected. It's fun, safe and loving, which has helped support my daughter to blossom into the individual she is. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.964 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.964
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
