Springfield nursery opened in 2016 and is part of Springfield Infant School.

All the children are valued individuals who are encouraged to be independent, develop self-esteem and self–respect and are inspired and motivated to do their very best. The highly qualified Early Years staff are passionate about providing all the children here with an excellent start in their school life. The Nursery and Reception teachers work together as a team to ensure there is a quality approach to early learning and care.

Did you know? As a term-time only provider with school-based opening hours, Springfield Nursery is able to offer funded 15 and 30 hour childcare places to eligible parents at no additional cost! The only potential charge applicable is a hot lunch which can be provided at a cost of £3.50 per day but children are welcome to bring along a packed lunch. If you have any questions regarding funding then please do not hesitate to contact the team.

The most recent OFSTED inspection, which took place in January 2025, rated the Early Years Provision here at Springfield as 'Outstanding' along with all other aspects of the school's provision.

The environment consists of bright and colourful rooms and a large outdoor area that is both stimulating and exciting. The displays are rich and vibrant and there is an abundance of quality resources. A wide range of activities are planned every day and it aims to provide the highest quality early learning in order to allow all children to make the best progress and develop their abilities and talents as they continue to grow.

The nursery welcomes children aged from three years and is open during school term times, 9am to 3pm, breakfast club runs from 8am. Sessions run from 9 – 12 and 12 – 3pm (3 session minimum). The 15 and 30 hour funded nursery provision is available and a hot meal at lunchtime is available for children who wish to have one.

I'm so pleased with Springfield Infant School and Nursery. The staff are so kind and caring, they do some great activities including messy play and there is a huge outdoor area that my son absolutely loves.
I feel really confident that his experience here will make the transition to school so much
easier for him. It's lovely to see him gaining confidence to try new things and I think he's learning a lot too.

My son is in his second year at Springfield Nursery and he absolutely loves it. His days are so varied, spending so much time outside learning and playing and is constantly coming home with amazing craft projects he's done that day. He is encouraged to take part in group activities, as well as use his
own imagination to come up with games with his friends.
He has made some lovely friends there and it's so nice knowing that most of the children will be his friends as they go on to move through the infant school together. The staff are fantastic - so caring and nurturing and I really believe they know my child well and can identify both his strengths and areas in which he needs more focus. It's also so nice to be part of the wider school environment which will make his transition into reception so much smoother next year.

My daughter attended the nursery from the term after she turned 3 and absolutely loved it. There's loads of free play, diverse activities/facilities and a lovely big outside space. They did some structured activities too in prep for school and had yoga every Thursday. The staff are brilliant and take
the time to really get to know each child. The preschoolers mix with the reception classes and have lunch at the same time too, which I think is brilliant prep for starting school. They're also included in school-wide assemblies and the Christmas production and christingle and more. My daughter has just moved up to Reception and the transition was seamless. I could go on and on!

Such a brilliant nursery! My son has been going there for a year. Things I love:
*He's always bringing home amazing creations and sharing with me all of the new words and things he's learnt.
*He gets to mix with the bigger kids which really helps him socially and develop.
* The ongoing updates
and photos I get each day.
Very grateful for all the hard work all of the teachers and carers at Springfield do.

My daughter has settled in straight away due to the super friendly teachers and welcoming environment. The app is used every day to let us know what our children have been up to and it's a joy to see how happy my daughter is there. They do such creative activities, lots of free play and singing. It's
a great way for children to get used to a school routine ready for reception. Highly recommend!

Both my children are really thriving in this school. One has been in Springfield since reception, now in year two, and the middle child has been in ducklings class for a year, and I hope my 3rd child will do amazingly when she starts in September.

Our daughter has thrived here, thanks to the super helpful and attentive staff. It’s a good mix of assisted activities and free-play, outdoor and indoor, plus sometimes mixing with the older children in reception classes. This is really helping to ease us into a school environment and prepare our daughter
for her first years. Our daughter has grown in confidence and independence, and we’re very thankful. Recommend!

My daughter has been at the nursery since January and is still so excited every morning to be going to "school". Mixing with the other pupils in the school is a lovely experience for her as her brother is in the school and they see each other at lunch and play together, and this will also help with
her progression to reception.
The communication with staff is great, and the photos and information shared on the app are lovely to see her having fun and playing with everyone.
Being term time and school hours means that I can collect both of my children together, and we get all of the holidays together still.

Springfield Nursery is a very warm and welcoming environment. The preschooler's mix with the reception children at certain points in the day with different activities. It has a nice outside, shady area. The teachers are lovely, with an emphasis on green living, recycling, nature and music/singing. The
children do a yoga lesson once a fortnight. This term, the children have learned about colour through history, focussing on the colour green of the Statue of Liberty. The nursery is good for parents looking for term time only school hours provision. Recommended school uniform but not mandatory. Communication is good at pick up/drop off and a helpful 'communication diary' between teachers and parents. The app posts once or twice a week for a full-time child. The reception staff was very helpful, responsive and professional.

I would highly recommend Springfield Nursery. The team are attentive, friendly and professional, and incredibly caring. When our son started in September, being his first experience away from home, he was unsurprisingly quite anxious (as was I). The staff welcomed him in and reassured my husband and
me that he was happy throughout the day by sending photos of him enjoying himself, exploring the classroom/outdoor areas and playing with others. Within days, thanks to the nurturing environment and excellent care from the staff, he was much more settled. He now talks about Nursery at home all the time; the fun things he has been learning, the friends he has played with and the teachers he loves. We can't praise Springfield enough for their communication; with regular updates on the school APP, text messages, phone calls and parent's evenings, we feel reassured that he is in the best possible care.... and, most importantly, that he is happy!

Springfield is such a fantastic nursery with supportive and caring staff. My son was hesitant about going to a new nursery, but over time and through the care and commitment of the staff, he grew in confidence and really enjoyed the time he spent there. The fact it is connected to the school is an added
bonus as when he moved into reception, he was already familiar with the school, dinnertime, playtimes, staff etc, which made the transition very smooth.

Springfield is an excellent nursery setting with caring and professional staff. They work hard to encourage independence, and they prepare children really well for the transition to Reception. The nursery is well-equipped, and I was really happy with how my son progressed there.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.964 for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.964
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield Infant School and Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
