Sunflower Stalybridge is an innovative day nursery offering full flexible daycare and a support partnership for parents. Part of the Sunflower Group of nurseries who own and operate 4 nurseries in Tameside.

Sunflower Stalybridge is owned and managed by mums who want to deliver the best care possible, to innovate and educate each unique child and to ensure the best start in the important early years.

As a paperless nursery, a transparent electronic learning system is used which enables parents to access the child's learning 24/7. Throughout the day parents receive electronic updates, enabling to feel part of the children's day and meaning no-one misses any precious moments.

Sunflower Stalybridge is a secure setting, designed to ensure children have continuous access to an outside area whatever the weather.

The outdoor area provides natural surfaces and is being set up by experienced practitioners to ensure children have the correct resources to excite and engage, encouraging enthusiastic learners.

The nursery offers daycare for children aged between 3 months -5 years.

Such an excellent nursery, my twins have come on so well with their speaking and learning. My daughters look forward to coming to nursery each week and have made very special bonds with their teachers and they both really feel at ease there.

Excellent nursery. Very friendly and professional staff. My daughter has thrived so much in social skills, numbers and play. She adores all staff as she has a special bond with quite a few of the staff here. The manager is very nice and has helped with any issues we may have and supported us every step
of the way when needed. My daughter is always excited when going to nursery and is always happy when leaving. I highly recommend Sunflower and have mentioned it to many of my friends. Thank you so much.

Fabulous nursery. My son loves it so much. Great staff and always fun activities to keep the little ones busy throughout the day. Great with the hot weather -paddling pool comes out, and sun cream applied.

Such a great nursery. When the other setting was closing, we didn’t want to lose the care, education and support from the group; so when they offered us a space at Stalybridge, we instantly took them up on that offer. The app is one of the best things about the nursery with its constant updates throughout
the day of what our child has done and eaten, plus all the cute pictures. I would definitely recommend Sunflower Stalybridge to any parent looking for a nursery.

Sunflower is situated directly across from the primary school, making it the perfect place for the adapter school club. The staff have been there a long time, and all make it a super experience for my daughter. Holiday club is also a great time with lots to do and trips out.

The staff look after my child so well, always giving us an update about how he is doing while in the nursery.
The nursery did an activity with my child, making a t-shirt; it was very beautiful, and my child loves the t-shirt and puts it on all the time.

Amazing nursery! Communication is amazing, and all the staff are lovely. I was apprehensive about sending my daughter to nursery after everything you see happening in other settings, but my mind is at rest with my daughter at Sunflower Stalybridge. Absolutely love the updates that we get whilst my daughter
is in the nursery, so we can see what she is getting up to during the day, and everything is monitored. My daughter has really come out of her shell since starting at Sunflower and doesn't stop talking about all the activities they do together. Also, love that the children have a leader in their rooms so they can monitor their milestones closely. Overall, an amazing nursery, and I couldn't fault them.

My son started here just over a year ago.
After Covid, he had not really interacted with any other children and had only really been with me, dad and big brother. The staff were brilliant with him from the start and even looked after me when he was crying and begging to come home. He now runs in, high
fives all the staff and has had some fantastic days in and out of the nursery.
My son started nursery barely walking, talking and using a dummy 100% of the time, and in that year, he is now speaking full sentences, no dummy at all, and we've gone from barely walking to running everywhere.
I honestly can't fault the whole nursery group from the cleaners all the way up to management. Everyone is so professional and lovely to speak to and even get along with.
Every single staff member knows every child inside and out, and there's never any confusion.

My daughter has been there for over 1-year now, following a move from another nursery. My daughters love going there! Sunflower is a fantastic nursery run by the wonderful staff. My son is in the baby room and started attending in February; he absolutely loves going and has made a real bond with his key worker and the rest of the staff in his room. Everyone at Sunflower genuinely cares about the children they care
for and want to help them develop and grow. Updates are provided consistently throughout the day via the app, and if you need to call to check on anything, everyone is so helpful.
We follow a vegetarian diet as a family, and this has been no issue when catering for our son’s meals, and he enjoys the food made for him.
We would highly recommend Sunflower nursery to anyone.

My son has been here for just over a month, having moved from another nursery. He has additional needs and often struggled with change. You would never tell he has been here for such a short period of time, and the staff have helped him reach more milestones in such a short period of time. All staff
are friendly and helpful, and the environment is brilliant. I would recommend this nursery to any parent or guardian considering their child coming here.

My son started going to Sunflower Stalybridge in April, and he loves going there! All teachers and assistants are taking good care of him. Thanks to the app, I know what my son is doing, and I can contact teachers all the time. All people there are really friendly, and at the same time, professional.

Best nursery ever. I went to five nurseries, and this one just clicked. The staff are amazing and so on top of things. They helped my son potty train to speak full sentences when I was struggling at home. My 4-year-old talks about his teachers like they are his best friends. Being a paranoid mother,

Sunflower Stalybridge was the first and only nursery we visited. As a mother to a mixed-race baby, I was looking at diversity. It’s safe to say that it’s the right place. Diversity and inclusion everywhere (staff and toys representation). My baby girl is looked after really well, and I am so grateful

My son (18-months) has been with Sunflower nursery since the start of February, and I can honestly say, the staff are a delight and really enjoy looking after the children. We get updates all day when he is there, and now my son is excited to go to nursery. They always put your mind at rest if you have
any issues, and the ladies in his room are really easy to talk to. The food they give my son is excellent as we are all vegetarians, they cater with some really good variations of meals. The activities they get up to are so creative and really teach him multiple new things each day he goes! Would absolutely recommend this nursery, especially if this is your first child like ours!

Staff are always friendly, and they have varied activities to engage my daughter, which makes things interesting and educational for her. They have been able to accommodate a vegetarian diet and have been using the Speech and Language Therapy guidance to help my daughter who has Down Syndrome to progress,
which has been great, as well as now training staff members in Makaton - this will be extremely useful not just for my daughter, but for any child, as it has been shown that using signs can help all children to speak earlier, not to mention the benefit of making it easier for my daughter to communicate with her peers in future if needed. The nursery also uses an app enabling me and my partner the ability to see what our daughter has been doing during the day, which is lovely. The management is very good, and they handle issues swiftly, despite the recent challenges of Covid.

Elaine Sagar

Job Title: CEO Joined: 2008

Elaine embarked on a career in Childcare in 2008 and founded The Sunflower Group in 2014.


She is passionate about Early Years Education. She is a fervent supporter of all aspects of early learning, representing the Early Years in her role as OBC Co-Chairperson, Schools Forum (EY Representative) and Chair of Tameside Nursery Network. Elaine is also a regular contributor to BBC Breakfast TV when representing the Early Years sector in the North West.


Elaine takes a "hands-on" approach to supporting her ever-expanding team of practitioners.


Elaine is committed to every child receiving the best start in their early education.

Dawn

Dawn Gibbons

Job Title: Operations Director Joined: 2014

Dawn Gibbons joined the company at its inception in 2014 as a Level 6 Lead Practitioner.


She has progressed through to now leading practice across the company alongside managing her Hyde setting with her senior management team.


Dawn has been recognised nationally for her dedication to practice when she received the National Award for Operations Director from Nursery World in 2019.


She is committed to ensuring that children and families are at the heart of everything we do at Sunflower.

Gail Smith has joined our Senior management team at Sunflower.


As an established figure in Tameside, Gail has led exceptional childcare for many years, and we are thrilled to have her join us at Stalybridge.

She has the knowledge and expertise to play a pivotal role in overseeing operations, staff management and driving improvement.

Amanda Ellis

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2008

Amanda Ellis has been employed by the Sunflower Group for over 13 years. Starting off as a Room Leader, Amanda completed her Manager's Training and has worked as a manager ever since.


Over a number of years, Amanda has worked her "magic" on three of our Centres and is now proud to co-manage our Stalybridge Nursery.


Amanda has a wealth of knowledge both on the nursery floor as a practitioner ( "which is where you will often find her") and as a Senior Management Team member leading change to drive continuous improvement for the team, children and families.

Bob Wynn

Job Title: Training Director Joined: 2009

Meet our Training Director Bob Wynn. Bob joined the company as a headmaster bringing many years of leadership in education to the company. When the school closed Bob developed his skills in other areas and retrained to lead our team in quality professional development. Bob leads our team in safeguarding, first aid and self-regulation. He also leads physical education and Forrest school along with the team and children.

Natalie

Natalie Hoszowskyj

Job Title: Parent Partnership Manager Joined: 2014

Although Natalie took up her position as one of the managerial team in 2014, she has worked for the company CEO for the past 21 years. Natalie has a wealth of managerial experience that she has brought to the team. Along with her education in childcare, this enables Natalie to lead and support both her team and families within the centre.


Natalie has recently become our Partnership with Parents Manager. This role was created to ensure our families always receive the best support across all our centres.

Jessica Johnstone

Jessica joined our team after the sudden closure of a local nursery group where Jessica had led practice for many years. Jessica now works as a Senior Practitioner at Stalybridge in the Pre-School Room.

Naomi Lewis

Naomi is a Senior Practitioner in our Lions Room. Naomi has completed a Degree in her Early Years and has brought a wealth of experience to our Pre-school Room.

Collette leads our Out Of School and Holiday Club. She is also a core member of staff in our 2-year-old room.

Tracy is one of our hidden stars. Tracy is part of the Domestic Team in our Stalybridge Centre. She keeps all of our areas in the setting sparkling.
