The Lady in Charge of Monkey Puzzle is quite frankly one of the rudest women I have ever come across. I took my Grandson on many occasions and 3 times arrived 10 mins before the official start time for my grandson of 10 am and I was staggered by her outburst when she told me in the rudest manner possible that if I took him 10 mins early ever again we would be left on the doorstep - and 3 weeks later it was pouring with rain and we arrived at 9.52 am and she saw us stood at the door in the rain and left us standing there - a truly awful woman and we immediately transferred our grandson elsewhere which was a blessing, must add we had no argument with any of the other staff they were great but sadly the lady in charge is not fit for purpose with her bad attitude - if any parent wants a trouble-free life stay well away from this woman.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you found our service unsatisfactory. Unfortunately we cannot admit children to the nursery earlier than their registered time due to our strict children:staff ratios. This is part of our safeguarding policy which we take extremely seriously. Our parents are...
I would highly recommend Monkey Puzzle.
My little girl has been coming here for 3 months now and has developed so well with her speech, eating, social skills, counting, the list goes on. The staff are amazing with her and she is excited to go every day and tell me the things she has learnt when I pick her up. The space is so open and colourful and lots of things to learn from and play with. Would definitely recommend this nursery to any parent.
I am so glad I chose to send my daughter to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Otley! All of the staff are so lovely; they made my return to work an easy transition for both of us. Nothing is too much to ask and they go above and beyond to accommodate your child to make them feel at ease. The open-plan, bright setting is fun and stimulating and enables all of the children to do so many different things in the same room; all of the activities they do are exciting and educational. You can also be sure your child will be eating well while they are there, the menu is amazing! I would highly recommend.
I would highly recommend this nursery if you're looking for your little one to develop into a well rounded child. The staff are so friendly and willing to help with anything they can, and the nursery itself is packed full of activities. The decor is bright and stimulating, but also has calm area's too. It's just fantastic and I'd recommend it to anybody.
Monkey Puzzle in Otley has been fantastic for my child. The building itself it's stunning, it's fresh and inviting for not just children but parents too. The management team are fantastic, very friendly and approachable.
After my last experience, I was uneasy about putting my child another nursery. However, after speaking to the manager on an open day, I felt at ease immediately and felt respected and that my opinion mattered. The outdoor area is fantastic and very inviting for children and parents. I would highly recommend Monkey Puzzle to any of my friends or family.
Thank you Laura for such a lovely review! We're very proud of our beautiful nursery and my team are exceptional - couldn't do it without them!

I am the owner and Director at Monkey Puzzle and my main task is ensuring my lovely staff have everything they need to provide amazing care and education for our children.
My background in education and teaching led me to opening Monkey Puzzle in 2017 to start this journey. Seeing the smiles on our children’s faces every day and watching them develop and thrive is truly a joy. I love the close trusting relationships we have with our parents and families and the local community, and I’m enormously proud of my team.
In my free time, I love spending time with my grandchildren, travelling and eating out with friends. I enjoy reading, walking my dog, swimming, running and all kinds of live music and theatre.

I started my Early Years Career in 2008 when I completed my college course, I went straight into a role in the placement nursery that I was at. I then moved to another nursery to train to be a room leader, I was at this nursery for about 10 years, 8 of which I spent as a deputy manager. I then moved to another setting to learn more about safeguarding and take on more of a role that involved working with vulnerable families and the local authority.
I started as a Room Leader before quickly progressing to Deputy Manager. I have been the Nursery Manager since September 2021. My role is to ensure that the nursery runs smoothly and effectively each day. I work closely alongside my management team to support and train our staff and to ensure that they deliver the best care and education to the children through providing outstanding experiences and opportunities.
I love to see the joy in the children as they learn and grow, it is a very rewarding job. It is nice getting to know so many different children and families and having an impact on so many lives. Monkey Puzzle is such a happy and friendly environment, and we offer a warm welcome to everyone who comes here.
I enjoy walking and exploring new places with my husband and family, we added a beautiful Border Collie to our family in December 2023, so like to take her out on our adventures. I also enjoy going on holiday and experiencing the wonderful places that the Uk has to offer, my favourite place to visit is Dorset.

My childcare journey:
This started in 2020 during COVID. I was working in IT and decided that I wanted a career change, so applied to do an early year’s apprenticeship. Having my own son inspired me and seeing him enjoy nursery highlighted that I had the skills and interest to pursue childcare as a career.

My role is to ensure that our environment is full of learning opportunities and new experiences to prepare the children for their next big transition to school. I am also the joint SENCO, I work with the children with SEN supporting them and their families to give them the best care and early help. I am an advocate for the children in our nursery and ensure that our setting celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
