Monkey Puzzle in Otley is loved by local families for its wonderful team of well-qualified and professional Early Years Educators. Children are nurtured to thrive and enjoy every minute of their early years. From the stimulation of your baby's senses, to physical and emotional development, right up to Pre-School literacy, numeracy, creativity and social skills, children grow into inquisitive, confident young people ready for their onward journey to school, so you know your little one is in the very best hands. With carefully designed and equipped playrooms, a sleep and sensory room and private secure outdoor gardens, the nursery is a beautiful environment for children.

All meals are freshly prepared onsite using healthy ingredients to give children the energy and nutrition they need for a day full of play, fun and learning. Children are always offered 100% of their 5-a-day in fresh fruit and vegetables.

Monkey Puzzle is an Ofsted 'Good' provider (November 2021) offering you the peace of mind you need during your working day with opening hours to suit your busy schedule. The nursery boasts secure entrances, CCTV and a private car park. Opening hours are 7.30am to 6.00pm. Fees are fully inclusive of everything - there are no hidden charges! Funded places are available for eligible children aged 9 months to 4 years.

Visitors receive a warm welcome and personalised tour with friendly staff on hand to answer all your questions. Places are currently very limited and bookings are being taken for next year and beyond - call now to avoid disappointment.

After visiting a few nurseries back in 2022 Monkey Puzzle was the perfect nursery. Unfortunately due to the year he was born in(Covid) he struggled with his speech, emotions and eating which having a persistent key worker made all the difference, his progression over the years that he attended was incredible.


The following year his younger sister attended in which the care they provided her was incredible, she has experienced respiratory problems and they did a care plan to keep her safe and minimise the risk of infections around her.


I feel beyond lucky to have found a lovely nursery that loved and wanted the best for my children just as much as me. My children wouldn't be the people they are today without the team. Forever grateful x

Cannot fault monkey puzzle at all. They have provided the most wonderful care for my son and he has been incredibly happy and has thrived in his development since moving here.


The staff team are lovely and considering the difficulties nurseries face with staff retention I'd say its a really stable

team which helps children feel settled. They go above and beyond and really get to know the children and support their unique interests, for example when finding out my son was interested in playing music they developed music based activities to support and encourage his interest. Communication with staff has always been excellent.


The setting overall is calm and flexible to meet the needs of children and they make great efforts to make the environment interesting and fun for kids. The food is great too!


My son always happily comes and goes which I think is always a good sign. We are very very sad that he has to leave!

My son is really well cared for by the fantastic nursery staff in the toddler room. One member of staff who is my son's key worker, is a superb communicator and a really effective member of staff. My son has thrived at the nursery, from the baby room where received high levels of care and we had great
experiences from the baby room lead and her staff, to the current toddler room, where he is doing equally well. My son is really happy at monkey puzzle Otley, he is doing really well socially and developmentally, and this is down to the calibre of the day to day nursery staff.


The only negative feedback we have is regarding the charging of fees and the creative accounting we've observed when applying the LA funding to the setting. This is something reflective of the owners not the wonderful care staff, hence why we are only able to offer 4 out of 5 stars. All other areas, we have received high levels of positive customer / parent experience.

Our daughter has been attending Monkey Puzzle since February 2024 and she absolutely loves it. I can safely say that I drop her off in the morning and rest assured she is having a lovely time until I pick her up that day! She absolutely loves her key worker and talks about her all the time at home -
they have a lovely relationship and I know she also feels her key worker is someone to be listened to which I feel means the balance is just right! Our daughter also eats so much more at nursery than she does at home which we are really pleased with.
We are so pleased with the nursery, all the staff are so approachable and always give really thorough updates about our daughter's day. We feel they have all developed a really lovely relationship with our daughter - this is so reassuring and lovely.

Our son has been at Monkey Puzzle for the last 18+ months, since he was 1 and in that time we've seen huge improvements in his speech, social skills and overall confidence. He absolutely loves the staff, as do we, they provide updates and photos of new skills achieved, fun tasks carried out or trips
out to the park which our son loves. We have happily enrolled our second child to start next year when they turn 1 and can't wait to see them develop in the same manner.

This is a truly wonderful daycare! My child loves coming here every day, and it's so clear how much care and attention is put into the children's well-being and development. The team at Monkey Puzzle have done a fantastic job with our two children. Our eldest started age 3 and has now started school and our youngest is in the baby room.
Staff are compassionate, caring and patient with the kids. The management and admin staff are efficient and also lovely. What a top bunch!

Both my children have been at Monkey Puzzle over the past 4 years and they've been excellent. The children were happy and cared for, the processes they use are simple and easy for busy parents, they set up activities and day trips regularly and the staff really care about the wellbeing of the kids.
If there are any problems or concerns, they talk about it collaboratively. You know what food they're eating and how much without having to rely on staff memory. A truly great nursery that I recommend to anyone.

Monkey Puzzle is a safe, fun environment for children where staff take a real interest in children and work hard to ensure they have a great time. They spend lots of time outside and do a large variety of activities. Our son has thrived in the preschool where a gentle introduction of structure and responsibility-taking
has prepared him really well for school. We are already looking forward to seeing our younger son there in future knowing how well he will be cared for and encouraged.

My child has been here since he just turned 1 and is just about to leave to go to primary school. I couldn't have asked for a better nursery and preschool, the staff really care for the kids and do so many exciting activities. They've taught my child a huge amount and prepared him so wonderfully for

Our daughter loves going to nursery, whenever we drop her off at Monkey Puzzle she can't wait to get through the door, to the point of not even looking back to say goodbye. She is 15 months old so that says a lot.


The nursery itself is a fantastic place and it seems they really take all feedback

onboard positive and negative and nothing is ever too much trouble.


She has formed really close bonds with every staff member I have met and they really understand her personality.


I do not have anything negative to say as they have fulfilled all our needs and our child's needs.

A very positive experience for our daughter who has been at the nursery for close to two years. A home from home in some ways and always happy with her days there. The staff at Monkey Puzzle make the place stand out. If you want a child focused nursery than I cannot recommend this place enough. I love the fact that my little boy comes home messy as it shows he’s had lots of different experiences and fun. My little boy started at 8 months old and is now 10 months
old, he seems to have settled in really well and I think this is down to the excellent staff who show empathy and a passion for caring for children. It may not have the best Ofsted but I know as a teacher that this isn’t always a true reflection of a setting. I know my child is safe and happy and having lovely experiences which to me is what is most important when looking for a nursery.

Over 15 years of teaching experience including 4 years as Literacy Coordinator. Paediatric First Aid Qualified.


I am the owner and Director at Monkey Puzzle and my main task is ensuring my lovely staff have everything they need to provide amazing care and education for our children.


My background in education and teaching led me to opening Monkey Puzzle in 2017 to start this journey. Seeing the smiles on our children’s faces every day and watching them develop and thrive is truly a joy. I love the close trusting relationships we have with our parents and families and the local community, and I’m enormously proud of my team.


In my free time, I love spending time with my grandchildren, travelling and eating out with friends. I enjoy reading, walking my dog, swimming, running and all kinds of live music and theatre.

I then moved to another nursery to train to be a room leader, I was at this nursery for about 10 years, 8 of which I spent as a deputy manager. I then moved to another setting to learn more about safeguarding and take on more of a role that involved working with vulnerable families and the local authority.


My role at Monkey Puzzle:
I started as a Room Leader before quickly progressing to Deputy Manager. I have been the Nursery Manager since September 2021. My role is to ensure that the nursery runs smoothly and effectively each day. I work closely alongside my management team to support and train our staff and to ensure that they deliver the best care and education to the children through providing outstanding experiences and opportunities.
