AN INSPIRING EARLY LEARNING AND CHILDCARE CENTRE IN ABERDEEN

The charming Aberdeen early learning and childcare centre is designed to support your child’s development from 3 months to 5 years.

They love to nurture and develop your child’s curiosity for the world around them, whether it be through regular French lessons or the dedicated ‘Book Nook’—where they can explore the adventures of their favourite book characters.

To further support your child, they can also bend, hammer and construct in the woodwork shed and let their imagination run wild with the supply of ‘Loose Parts Play’ materials. This gives your child open access to raw materials and the tools to craft them into their very own creations.

With the childcare centre being in such an ideal location, your child will also be guided on regular trips by the experienced childcare team. This includes visits to the local park, library and other landmarks to build their sense of connection with the local community.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The staff would love to meet you and your child, so book your visit today and they will show you everything the childcare centre has to offer during your own personal tour.

My son has attended this nursery for a few months now and has settled extremely well, which I believe is down to the staff and learning opportunities at the nursery.
He enjoys his time at nursery and speaks positively about nursery when he isn't there which I believe is a positive indication of the
enjoyment he has when he is there.

We have had a wonderful experience with the nursery, our little boy started at 8 months and we felt the baby unit was so loving and secure. We had no nervousness leaving him at nursery whilst we worked. The infant department is so much fun for our little boy he loves going to nursery learning new things
and having new experiences with his friends in the infant department. The staff are wonderful, so relaxed and caring.

My daughter has recently started in the baby room and immediately settled in. She loves her carers and gets a big grin on her face when they meet her each morning. I get a full report of her day. It is clear that they thought about what she needs to develop and challenge her when coming up with activities
for the week eg at the minute she is working on using her own cutlery so there is a lot of playing with spoons in the water tray and with gloop. She has quite a few food allergies and these have been catered for very well. The staff were determined that she would not miss out on baking a birthday cake for her birthday and bravely attempted gluten-free, vegan cupcakes with her and we really appreciated the effort that was put into doing this. We do recommend the nursery to friends and family.

My son has attended St Swithin nursery since January 2017 (from 6 months old). At first, he was attending 3 days a week, before doing 5 days a week at 9 months. He has been very happy and content since the first day. He has grown into a very social and content boy and I attribute it greatly to the nursery,
as much as from home. The staff is truly amazing in all points; very caring, nurturing, stimulating and very attentive. The place is very safe, not only due to the staff but also to the facilities. I can only highly recommend Bright Horizons at 24 St Swithin nursery.

Very happy with the nursery. It is clean, has a great variety of toys and books for the kids, and the staff are great for encouraging learning and creativity. There was a change to the outside area to remove standard slides etc. and replace them with items that the children can be more creative with,
which I'm very pleased with.
It can be hard during the winter months to get outside, but I would like more walks and trips to the nearby parks with the children. This may pick up again in the warmer months.
The staff and management actively look for ways to improve and involve parents, looking for feedback and suggestions. I'm very happy to have my child at the nursery and would recommend it to friends.

The nursery has been well organised in terms of facilities, safety and children's education on daily activities safety.
The staff are well trained and patient to children. Good behaviour is encouraged by gentle but persistent reminding r to children
However, after moving to Pre-School, we felt that
the facilities for activities is rather limited. Children often stay indoors in rooms. Outdoor play or visiting to other places has been reduced to a minimum. This may be due to the weather conditions. We are hoping that outdoor activities will be encouraged once the weather is warmer.

We are extremely happy with our child's care at the nursery. At both drop off and home time, it is clear that she loves being at nursery. The staff are all great and we can see our daughter has great relationships with them. Every day we find out the activities that have taken place and any key pieces
of information we need. It's lovely to hear what our daughter has been up to and the range of activities that take place.

My son always receives excellent care and education. He absolutely loves all his teachers, they make him feel safe and welcoming in the nursery. The garden has an excellent choice of toys which bring out their imagination to the max. They have a primary school and a French teacher who comes and teaches
them on weekly basis, and there's always amazing planned activities for my son to join.

We have our nearly three year old son and one year old daughter at the nursery. Our daughter started in May and settled in very quickly and now loves going to nursery.
My son has not settled in very quickly as he has delayed speech and some other developmental delay. We cannot praise the staff at
St Swithin enough for their continued support, eagerness to help my son in any way at nursery and home life, patience and time with my son and always having time for us too.
They have gone above and beyond their duties for our family and are always happy to help.

The staff are ready to accept your child in as soon as nursery opens. They speak nicely to the children and are very calm and welcoming each morning.
My child has only cried a handful of times in the 1.5 years that he has attended. He is always keen to go to nursery and gets excited when he goes in.
I believe that this is a result of the interesting, structured curriculum the nursery offers but also the homely atmosphere created by the caring and professional staff.
All the staff I have come into contact with, demonstrate a keen interest in the children they care for.
They have an excellent understanding of their personalities and needs.

A very welcoming and pleasant nursery. My child is very happy to go in every day. The staff are warm, smiley and friendly and provide excellent care. The food is nutritious and varied and the children do lots of activities including art, planting flowers and role play. They get outdoor play and walks
a lot and the daily communication we receive is always thorough and informative regarding our child's day. I viewed quite a few nurseries- this one is the best I've seen.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.656)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.656) out of 10 for Bright Horizons at 24 St Swithin is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.907 for Bright Horizons at 24 St Swithin is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.907
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.749 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons at 24 St Swithin is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 number of registered child places is 10.6. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.849
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
