Park Hill is a wonderful nursery. Our son, who started there when just turned two, has absolutely flourished. Now in his pre-school year, and thanks to the brilliant teachers and staff, he is confident, happy and making brilliant progress in all aspects of learning (from maths to woodland school and
everything in between). The whole school ethos gives even the littlest children a real sense of belonging and great role models to look up to. I would recommend the nursery to anyone looking to give their child a great foundation to take into their school years and beyond.

Our son is now in his second year at Park Hill School & Nursery and we're really happy there. It's a wonderful environment where the teachers are attentive and proactive, as well as incredibly creative with their daily activities.
When we did the initial visit, the Headmaster took us round for a tour
and we were able to visit each class. When we got to Year 6 (age 10-11), the Headmaster asked what the children were up to; one little girl said that they had been reading the Shakespeare play Richard III, another rose to say that they'd all written their own version of the play, and then a final child got up to say that one of those plays had been chosen and they were going to make it on green screen.
I was struck not just by the confidence and the engagement of the children, but also the opportunities they were being given - I'd have loved that when I was little - with that and the classroom technology focus, it's an easy decision to keep our son here right the way through.

My children have flourished at Park Hill. The best decision I have made for their future. A small school with small classes which means extra attention. There's a real community amongst the parents and the school.

My girl has blossomed at Park Hill. The teachers are caring and very attentive, we could not be happier. The staff as well is always very positive, there is always a welcoming smile when they open the door and you feel you are leaving your child in good hands, which is very important for parents!

Our son has attended nursery and reception since January 2018 and we are extremely happy with the school, the staff, the overall quality of the teaching and most importantly, the progress our son has made since. We are also very happy with the school direction under the Headteacher.

Strongly recommended!

My son has attended Park Hill School & Nursery since he turned two.
First Steps was a lovely nurturing environment with really caring teachers. Since he joined Second Steps last September he has really grown up; the teachers are very dedicated to the development of each child. They hold many events
throughout the year so we feel part of the school community. Great nursery and school!

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.838 for The Orchard Day Nursery, Kingston (formerly Park Hill School & Nursery) is calculated as follows: ( (221 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.838
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Orchard Day Nursery, Kingston (formerly Park Hill School & Nursery) is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 number of registered child places is 8.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
