Children 1st Buckinghams Nursery School is a very popular nursery conveniently located on Buxton Road in Leek.

The nursery has large, well resourced learning environments designed for babies, toddlers and early years. The environments provide the perfect opportunity for children to learn in small groups. The nursery also benefits from a large, outside space which is very popular with children.

Children 1st @ Buckinghams Day Nursery have always been amazing with our son! He absolutely loves everything he does with the nursery girls! He enjoys all indoor and outdoor activities and the care he is given is fantastic! Every day he comes home happy!

We chose Buckinghams for our daughter as it felt very safe, well organised and managed, and that she would be well looked after there. We haven't regretted our decision. Our daughter has enjoyed her time there so far, has developed well, and seems really happy at the end of the day after doing lots
of fun and educational activities!


The daily updates and photos are useful, and it's good to see what our daughter has been up to. The staff are friendly, professional, and always willing to help out with special requests. The daily menus are good and varied, and my daughter who is normally a picky eater at home seems to enjoy her meals at nursery (thanks to the chef!) - wish we could send her in every single day!
I can't think of any negatives really, as it has all been a good experience so far for us and our daughter.


I would recommend Buckinghams to anyone looking for a safe, friendly environment for their littles ones to learn and develop.

My daughter loves attending nursery and she loves all of the staff members. We as parents feel really reassured when she is at nursery and are settled in the knowledge that she is well looked after.
The only thing we are disappointed with is the lack of activities outside of the nursery setting.
She
has attended three times a week for over a year and not once has she been taken out for the day. I know other nurseries take the children to the park/woodland/to feed the ducks and even music activities at local halls etc. I would like it if the nursery started doing more things outside of the setting.

I love this nursery both my kids go here now. My son started three weeks ago. I was told to apply for child tax free childcare as it will help me a lot. I did, I was having problems setting it up and I was worried that the nursery fees are going to be late and they said it was ok and they helped me
so much with it. My daughter will be leaving in September and they've been so good with her, helping her to get ready for school.

I cannot fault the care my daughter has received in her first few months of nursery. We are very happy with the staff and communication we receive daily.
The updates we receive throughout the day on how our daughter is getting on and what she’s been up-to are very much welcomed.
Our daughter is
very willing to go into nursery in a morning which speaks volumes for us as she is a rather clingy baby but has built a solid bond with her key worker as she has put in a lot of effort with our daughter and helped her settle in very well.

This nursery is by far the best.
My son has come on immensely.
The staff are absolutely amazing; the teacher from his last group put in a lot of time and effort with my little buddy; he thought/thinks the world of her.
My son has moved into a new group/class now; the ladies are brilliant with him.
All
the ladies involved with my little man; I’d like to thank you for your hard work.
Being an ex close protection operative; I find security a big concern to me; who’s around my kids? Are my kids safe? - I have no safety concerns about this nursery.
This nursery meets all the needs of my boy.
They are very accommodating and will always try to help with extra days/times if possible.
I think any child that attends this nursery is extremely lucky.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this nursery to friends and family.

My daughter has been with the nursery since she was 10-months-old. She’s recently turned 3 and I have to say, it’s like leaving her with family. She looks forward to going and has learned so much already! I’ll be so sad to leave.

Since starting at Children 1st @ Buckinghams Day Nursery, my daughter has overcome a few obstacles such as speech delay and helped her to socialise. If it wasn't for Buckinghams mentioning her speech delay and pointing me in the right direction I don't think she would be where she is now. She loves
to play with her friends and loves the staff, most mornings she asks if it is time for 'school'. She is a much happier little girl and I couldn't thank all the staff enough.

Children 1st @ Buckinghams is a great little nursery, my grandson has come on in leaps and bounds since starting here, it’s taken him a long time to get used to being left at nursery and cried when I left him for months but the staff were always patient and understanding with him and I’m pleased to
say now he loves going to nursery to play with his friends and see the staff.

Children’s 1st Day Nursery have been amazing! They have really helped to develop our daughter in all aspects of her development. My daughter enjoys going to nursery and loves learning something new every day. She enjoys the adventure playground and getting stuck into the activities that are put on. She always comes out with a big smile on her face after spending time there.
I feel that she is developing really well with help
from all the staff and she has a strong bond with them looking after her. The staff always give a good handover so I know what she’s been up to that day and what she’s enjoyed.
The food is always something new and exciting and lots of things that she wouldn’t eat at home eats there. The kitchen staff also make things off the menu if it's something that she doesn’t like which I think is so thoughtful.

Our little boy has attended the nursery since he was 7-months-old. He is happy in the setting and is starting to develop his speech and his relationships with other children in the nursery. With the support of the amazing staff, he settles nicely when he is dropped off and is always happy on collection.
All staff are kind and caring and know the children by name which is lovely. The staff always say hi in passing and are always smiling. They do some lovely activities with the children and the app is great to follow their activities, daily diary and development. The outside space is really nice and our little boy's favourite part.

My child has been attending the nursery for a while now. She really enjoys going and spending time with her friends and participating in activities. She seems to have excelled in her speech even more so since attending nursery and always tells us at home what she’s been playing with each day. She is
always happy on both arrival and departure which is nice to see. I do think they should have more things like little trips out to the park etc. as Buckinghams used to have this facility before Children 1st took over. It would be nice to see them interact with the world outside of nursery a little more as I feel it is good for them and their social development.

We have had our son in the nursery since May 2021 in the baby room. The introduction that the staff gave us and our little boy was fantastic. They were really good at getting to know us and what he does and doesn't like so that he felt settled and happy in nursery.

The first nursery we viewed and the only one. Absolutely fantastic place, my son's development has improved so much, he was almost walking when he started at 9 months, by 10 months he was walking. He loves it and it’s great peace of mind for first-time parents like myself to know he’s receiving the
best care and education.
His key person has such a great relationship with him and he always gives her a big smile on arrival and departure.

Such a great nursery setting. The staff demonstrate a level of care and professionalism that is second to none. They provide daily activities for the children with different themes and send wonderful daily updates for parents to view.

A great group of people care for my son and help him grow into a lovely young man, their care and understanding for his development is great and I couldn’t be happier with his development.
He loves everyone and even thinks some of the girls live there and he’s off to their house for breakfast!

My son has been going to Childen 1st @ Buckinghams for two years and I don’t have a bad word. All his teachers are fantastic and he loves going. They are very professional and friendly. My son learns new things and they always do new activities with the children.

My little boy absolutely loves his days at Children 1st @ Buckinghams, he is excited to go every day! The staff there are caring, professional, knowledgeable and always have time to listen to your concerns and to answer your questions. The communication is excellent and they will always contact you
if there is a problem. They go above and beyond what I would expect from a good quality nursery. My son also loves the food and always eats well. I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a safe and loving place for their child. It is worth the money to have such a high standard of care here. Thank you.

Nicky Hardy

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1992

Hello my name is Nicola Hardy I am the Manager @ Children 1st @ Buckinghamsl.


As well as working full time I am also a Mum of two Children Louis who is 13 and Molly who is 8 both of my children attended nursery from the age of Nine months old I feel this has been a great start for my children socially and intellectually.


I started my career in childcare 26 years ago and have experienced various roles working with all age groups within our nurseries.


A deputy position came up within the company this would potentially be a great move I was a successful applicant and I started my new position in October 2016.


I was given the opportunity to develop myself as a Manager. I have found this move a great experience
Since working with Children 1st I have been able to continue my training completing a NVQ Level Three in customer services.


During my time with children 1st I have become more confident and have developed skills in all aspects of my job role


I have a passion and am fully committed to providing high quality day care and education to all our children. And for caring for children and their families, ensuring that they are happy and settled whilst attending our setting.
