A welcoming and enriching nursery in Enfield Hilly

Enfield Hilly Fields Day Nursery and Preschool is based in a Victorian Grade 2 listed building in the Enfield Chase district of the London Borough of Enfield and offers childcare provision for children aged 3 months to 5 years in the Clay Hill and Lavender Hill areas of Enfield in North London.

It is very well situated next to the picturesque Hillyfields Park and is close to Enfield Town Centre along with the surrounding areas. The Nursery has easy access to both the A10 and the M25 as well as local railway stations and operates from 7.30am – 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

The well-qualified team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences, within a carefully planned curriculum with their unique Ready for School programme. Fostering an enjoyment of early literacy and maths, with their Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancement, helping children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment.

The nursery has two gardens which enable a wide range of fun activities to take place outside every day, allowing us to offer a broad outdoor curriculum. As well as having a secure car park, the nursery has a designated buggy storage area to enable parents to drop off and collect the children from the nursery as smoothly as possible.

With all-inclusive fees, which means less to pack on a busy morning, all the meals are prepared onsite with nutrition in mind. From healthy lunches and snacks chosen branded nappies and wipes included in the fees.

The nursery was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted for their commitment to high quality childcare and education, with elements of outstanding (September 2016).

They are excited to be part of your child’s journey and look forward to meeting you and your little one soon. Book a personal tour today.

Barley Barn is a warm welcoming nursery that makes every child feel included and cared for. They put great effort into education and teaching kids to socialise and my son loves the food!

My daughter has attended Barley Barn from 11 months she is now 30months and is excelling across every field. I am very thankful to all the staff who have helped her to learn and develop, she loves all the different activities they do each day and especially enjoys her weekly football lesson and I love
hearing about her day. I receive a detailed account of her day from staff down to what she has eaten and activities taken place that day. They have really helped me with potty training and are so patient with her. She has a great relationship with all nursery staff and has made some lovely friends, I’m looking forward to the next steps and pre-school.

We are extremely happy with Barley Barn because the staff here are absolutely excellent. Both my children have a wonderful bond with their key worker as well as all the other staff across the nursery. Every morning we are given the warmest welcome you can imagine; I'm not sure how the staff have so
much energy! Throughout the day they provide many varied activities and usually have a theme to the week to guide the learning which I really like. Every evening my children are full of stories about their day (and lots of artwork and crafts to show off), and I am often surprised by the depth of things that they have learnt and the progress that they are making, both socially and developmentally. My oldest will be starting school in September and they have done a first class job preparing him for the next big step, I have absolutely no doubt that he will excel at school after such a wonderful base from which to grow. It's the wonderfully warm friendly team which makes this place so special.

My son started at the nursery from when he was 14 months and loves going there. I have seen him develop at a fast pace mastering key skills which is great. I think the nursery encourages the children to learn to be independent which I have noticed a lot of other nurseries don't necessarily do. The staff
are all very nice and the nursery manager is helpful and listens to any queries you may have.

The staff have been so fantastic with our children. They are the main reason for staying with the nursery for our 3 children. They are so good with the children and have such a good relationship with them. As a result, I think our kids have gained a lot from going to nursery especially socially.

We

like that there is a good outdoor space but are keen for the development to happen as previously promised to improve this and with more equipment such as balance bikes. We like the organised football provided as part of the outdoor activities.

Barley Barn was instantly welcoming. Having come from an educational background myself I was very in tune with what I wanted for my son - Barley Barn is the place for him.

His carer is so amazingly caring, relaxed and informative, and the environment is stress-free and highly productive to my son's

learning. He wants to cuddle all the staff in the morning to say hello. At only 14 months, this level of trust was evidence of his sheer happiness here.
He is never in tears or frustrated when I collect him. He loves it here.

There is no need to look for another nursery when you view here - it's homely and incredible.

Since the nursery was taken over by Asquith, it has improved in many areas. I'm a lot happier with the quality of staff and the number of activities they seem to do with the children. Especially the staff in the baby room, who are very loving and caring and reassure you they are in good hands.

Generally, we are happy with the nursery setting. Our children have really good relationships with the staff in both the baby room and pre-school. The settling in process for babies has greatly improved which was reassuring especially as it took a while for my baby to settle.
Since Asquith have taken
over, we have noticed a lot of glossy advertising. It is great that there is good communication but wonder whether the money on advertising could be used better for other things to make life more convenient for parents like providing formula, nappies and wipes which was very useful before.

Both my children really enjoy attending Barley Barn. My son has settled in very well and is very happy with his key worker. The nursery has been refurbished but there are still no smart boards which is disappointing as my daughter will only be at Barley Barn until July 2017. The outside space is poor
in comparison. The carpark needs security lighting as it is dangerous at night with parents and children walking through it whilst cars are reversing. Overall we are happy with the nursery.

Our daughter had a very good settling in period. Her hours and days were increased gradually from a few hours then to a whole day. This enabled her to have a smooth settling in period. The staff and management are very friendly and interact extremely well with the children. The facilities are good and
the food and snacks are excellent.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.380)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.380) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Enfield Hilly Fields Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Bright Horizons Enfield Hilly Fields Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (101 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.463 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Enfield Hilly Fields Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 number of registered child places is 16. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.563
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
