I feel extremely fortunate to have found such a wonderful nursery - the staff are supportive, kind, and they care, going above and beyond each time. Management is strong and effective. Throughout the lockdown my son did not attend, however, we were kept up to date via frequent emails, being sent activity packs with zoom calls set up on a weekly basis. My son has come on leaps and bounds - he often asks to see his favoured members of staff on the weekend! He is so happy and I can’t praise nursery highly enough.
As I say, I feel so incredibly lucky that we found such a great nursery and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about care for their little one.
The staff know the children - my child's love of snails was reflected in activities. By 2, the children are taught to take their shoes off and to put their coats on alone, and to be kind to others.
New Cross has large grounds with trees and garden space, so children are outside all the time, despite an inner London setting. Children here, are familiar with tree roots, butterflies, puddles or seeing leaves overhead, and rain on wet days.
The nursery groceries are brought to reception -- so fresh carrots, bananas, and pulses are visible. Diet is varied with rice, couscous and fish, fruit snacks and homemade daily cooking. The children have a help yourself penguin water jug all day long to keep hydrated.
Pre COVID parents were welcome anytime which was transparent.
Staff speak to parents daily on pick up about behaviour, eating, and activities.
My son is very happy at New Cross Nursery, he has days filled with fun and always comes home with a smile. All the staff are kind and friendly. It feels like we are part of a large family which warms my heart.
It’s a shame I can’t see how he is doing there so much due to there being a restriction going into the nursery as coronavirus situation.
However, staffs usually give me great feedback in detail and I can access the online system.
I am pleased with everything they do in this difficult situation.
I’d recommend others for the New Cross Nursery!
Thanks
New Cross Nursery provides a team of passionate and almost impossibly adaptable staff who very capably accomplish the herculean feat of facilitating our small child's socialisation. Every day she comes home fascinated by something new or having learned some new word, phrase or concept. She is in tune with her emotions and learns how to deal with adversity in a supportive environment but also one which promotes independence. She was putting on her own coat before she was even two using a clever trick they taught her. Staff have gone out of their way to provide opportunities to speak and hear her mother's language as well which is extraordinarily helpful for a third country child to understand their identity better. Thank you New Cross Nursery team.
The feedback we get at the end of the day and the Friday 5 is full of enriching, fun and new activities that my daughter has explored. She is now so confident in social situations and the nursery and staff have a huge part to play in that.
Very professional and give good advice.
The activities are interesting and lots of learning.
Happy with the nursery.
We love our nursery so much! Without having grandparent's nearby, this is a massive part of our support network. Our little one loves her carer and is visibly excited about going to nursery. I couldn't continue my work without this amazing service and I am safe in the knowledge that our daughter is not only safe but is also learning so much. Love that they go to the market to buy their own veg. Keep up the great work!
My son looks so happy and is having the best time, he loves the teachers very much! I’m very happy with my son learning English and making friends as he didn’t speak at all because he has not been in the UK long.
Excellent nursery with great facilities, plenty of outdoor space, caring friendly staff, healthy tasty food and a wide variety of learning and fun opportunities for kids of all ages. Recommended!
The nursery staff are welcoming and friendly and include male and female members as well as many different cultures, languages and ethnicities. I think this provides my son with a varied and interesting understanding of the wider world. The nursery arranges thoughtful and fun events for parents and children to enjoy together. My son has great fun at nursery and comes home happy and exhausted every time he goes.
The nursery has a nice space and is well equipped for the number of children that it caters for. It benefits from a small soft play area. Meals are cooked on site and allergies are catered for.
My child is happy to come to nursery and enjoys her relationship with her peers.
The staff know her well and they share progress updates daily in a short verbal exchange and more formal reviews regularly.
A really lovely and stable team who look after our son very well. Really appreciate the speed of response and the dedication to trying new things! Thanks.
What most impresses me about the nursery is the staff's commitment to a positive attitude and making an effort every day to provide structured learning opportunities and mixed activities and keeping a smile on their face regardless. Their cheerful hellos and warm goodbyes are consistently delivered and even perk up the grown-ups. They work very hard, thanks to them. Good outside space and range of facilities.
The staff here are very kind and supportive to our son. He has been going for around four years now and loves it. From baby room to toddlers and now pre-school I can say that my wife and I have been pleased with the approach taken by the nursery to provide a fun learning environment. One downside is the fact that after the baby room, the toddler room is too small really - but they are in the pre-school room a lot of the time which helps. Food has always been good and healthy, staff turnover low - we still see his keyworker from the baby room all the time even now he is in pre school. Hard to criticise the place really.
The environment is clean and tidy, space maximised and teachers are warm and welcoming. It also has equality and diversity both on staff and pupils. It’s well secured.
My 2 kids go to this nursery. I took 1 out and moved him to a private daycare feeder school to an expensive school in Dulwich. That was twice the price and after a week of observation, I pulled my son out and returned him to New Cross Community Nursery. The food and standard of care was 100 times better at new Cross Community Nursery and it was worth losing £3000 to move him back here where he was happy and there is no pretence behind a glossy brochure. Shout out to the deputy leader who honestly is the most awesome leader who knows a lot about my child’s personality and writes me great reports that a busy lawyer has little time to have to download verbally. I have nothing but praise for this amazing nursery and I am proud my kids were part of the growth of this place. The nursery teacher and her discipline is awesome, I wish she could just live with us, and the deputy leader needs to run a series of these centres. Never met anyone I would trust with my kids' development more than this person.
Great friendly and warm staff and I’ve had no complaints from my 4-year-old! Loves going to nursery as there a variety of things for him to do.
Staff seem to be diligent and professional in carrying out activities as it relates to the kids, which is encouraging to see as a parent.
The staff are amazing and you can see how much they genuinely love the kids. Also the development and activities are great.
