Mama Bear's Day Nursery & Pre-School (Speedwell)

My son loves going to Mama Bears nursery. He currently attends the baby unit and the staff there are great. He has come a long way since starting at the nursery, they do a great job there and the main mamager responds to queries very quick and efficiently.

My daughter joined Mama Bears in September 2025 as a 10 month old. I was worried about the transition as she had been at a different nursery for August, however they didn't let us use all of our funded hours across three days. Nicola was brilliant and I was impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. The baby unit is a lovely big space, with different areas, so i knew that my daughter wouldn't get bored and although there were some tears for the first couple of weeks, as can be expected, Fran, Millie, Sophie and the rest of the team were always so kind and welcoming that my daughter quickly settled in. She is now one and a half and loves it. She nods excitingly in the morning when I say we have to get ready for nursery. They are also helping us with consistency for her behaviour, as well as paying particular attention to her speech development. We are all very glad we made the move to Mama Bears.

The staff at Mama Bear's Whiteway Road are such a brilliant, friendly and approachable team. They work WITH children and their families. Absolutely love all the celebrations they do too and the effort they put in. There is no other nursery in Bristol that will go to the amount of effort they do for World Book Day etc. The team there are truly kind people who will be honest with you. They all seem to get on as well, which is really nice to see!

Nicola, the manager, has been wonderful from the very beginning ,thoughtful, supportive, and deeply committed to the wellbeing of the children and families. Every key person our daughter has had has been kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in her development. Thanks to them she has built strong friendships and beautiful memories that will stay with her as she moves on to school. Like many nurseries, Mama Bear's has had periods where staffing has been stretched and they've had to navigate challenges beyond their control. They provided all the things I required of my child. For a farcy eater and helping with potty training. My child has developed a lot and has achieved a lot of goals. My child has learnt a lot of things at nursery. I would like to say thank you to the manger's and team. Keep up the good work.

We absolutely love Mama Bears. A wonderful nursery with incredibly caring and loving staff. My daughter loves going there and has developed so beautifully since starting. We couldn't be happier and are so grateful for everything they do. they are doing an amazing job-an amazing team!

Our child has been at the nursery for nearly 3 years and has absolutely loved it. The team and management are very transparent on what's going on in nursery and clearly care a lot for the kids. The large garden and varied activities are great - it's always nice getting photos and updates on what's going on through the parent app! Staff have always spent time answering any questions we have and have helped manage any challenges with our child as they have progressed.

We have been really happy with the care and attention or little one has received since starting at Mama Bears Speedwell. The team are very engaged providing lots of fun activities as well as regular feedback through the app. We are delighted to have such a lovely and accommodating nursery so close. The team are always very communicative and in particular we had none of the run around during registry that we experienced with other nearby nurseries.

Brilliant nursery. My daughter wakes up eager to get there and is so happy when I collect her. They do a range of activities with her which she loves and the staff are lovely. Nicola the manager is very approachable and runs the nursery very well.

The wonderful team at Mama Bear's have made my daughter feel so welcome since she started attending at 1 and is still very much enjoying it at age 4. She's very bonded with the staff who really understand her and who she is. It's been great for her development and I feel totally comfortable and happy for her to go in for the day as I know she's being well cared for. Highly recommended.

Our child has enjoyed her time here and the staff have been fantastic at keeping her safe, and happy. I have been impressed with some of the things she has learnt and appreciate the lovely outdoors space that's available for her here.
