My children have been attending Chestnut Nursery School @ Ray Lodge since 2017 and I will be sad when my daughter leaves to go to school this September. We have nothing but good things to say about Chestnut. The kids have loved going there and it has been a great preparation for school too in the pre-school
room. The staff are all lovely, and the manager is extremely friendly and helpful. They have really good outdoor space, including a separate garden for the babies which is unusual. Definitely recommended!

Our son (3) attends Chestnuts Nursery school, and our daughter (11m) is going to start in January. Our son has additional needs and communicates via sign language, as well as needing many therapies. This nursery is a brilliant mainstream nursery that is inclusive. They are excellent at both the practical
and paperwork/admin side of managing our son's needs. We communicate openly with them and trust them.
His keyworker (and SENCO) is caring as well as challenging to help our son learn. She has experience of ways of working with children with additional needs and lots of skills in the areas. Most importantly - she is genuinely passionate about her job and does it well.
Obviously, our experience relates to a child with additional needs, but we are going to be sending our daughter (who is neurotypical) to Chestnuts too soon. We love the way the classrooms are set up, with plenty of tabletop activities, messy play, outdoor play opportunities, and they also have a sensory room.

Chestnut Nursery has been a fantastic experience for both my daughters from end to end. Both joined at 12 months old and progressed onto school at four years old. This is a purpose-built childcare setting with two huge gardens and great facilities. Their activities are well planned and the staff show
a keen interest in all the children. Both my daughters were sad to leave but were well equipped to deal with their new primary school challenge!
I cannot recommend this nursery enough!

I have had two children attend Chestnut Nursery.
My older son left in September and was so well prepared for primary school with the support, help and assistance from the nursery.
He came on leaps and bounds whilst attending Chestnut and still talks about his key worker and staff with fond memories.
My
younger son has just returned back after the covid break, and after his first day back stated, “nursery is amazing, I love nursery” safe to say, Chestnut has managed his return perfectly and alleviated any worries I had about his return at this time.
I have always been incredibly happy with Chestnut and can see how they teach and look after my children in such a kind, caring and professional way.

My daughter has been attending this nursery since she has been two and she loves it. She has grown into a confident child and has made many friends. All members of staff are caring and pay attention to each child’s individual needs. I would highly recommend this nursery to every parent who wants to
be sure that their child is left in safe hands.

Ray Lodge Chestnut is an excellent place for children. My daughter started at 6 months and stayed until she started school. She thrived and all the staff were brilliant. They supported her with her learning and supported her social skills. I loved the nursery so much that my younger baby, who is 8 months
old has now started as well. We love the nursery so so much.

My son has been at Chestnut for almost a year now and we are only leaving because we have moved areas. We are beyond happy with the way the staff delicately nurture the children and pay attention to their every need. My son has a lot of dietary requirements and the room staff have thoroughly supported
us through this. We have found the nursery a fantastic experience for our son who loves attending and has learnt copious amounts.
We can’t recommend this nursery enough and are extremely sad to be leaving.
The staff make this nursery a huge success and we wish them all the luck for the future.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.101)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.101) out of 10 for Chestnut Nursery School @ Ray Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.676 for Chestnut Nursery School @ Ray Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.676
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.425 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Nursery School @ Ray Lodge is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 number of registered child places is 12.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
