Townsend Montessori Nursery Margate is a welcoming and homely setting, located in the picturesque coastal town of Margate. The setting follows a Montessori approach to education, which prioritises the growth and development of each child, in a supportive and engaging space designed for them to learn and thrive.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, inspired by the Montessori approach, fostering meaningful connections between children and the world around them and helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

Inside, the three rooms are thoughtfully designed and equipped with age-appropriate resources to support children's development. Outside, there is a large, secure garden that provides ample space for children to play, explore and learn, offering a sand and water play area, a climbing frame, trikes and open spaces to run around.

The youngest children begin their journey in the Lion Cubs Room on the ground floor, where their Key Carer follows their individual routines and plans fun activities for them to enjoy throughout the day. As they grow older, they progress to the Monkey's Room, where they are encouraged to make independent choices and select their own resources.

In the Tigers Room, Pre-School children develop school readiness skills and can participate in various extra-curricular activities such as rugby, football, dance and yoga to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

Our son loves the nursery. The staff are wonderful and incredibly supportive. He comes home having learned new things and had new experiences we could never recreate at home.
Communication is clear and regular so we know what he's eaten each day, how many nappy changes and even get a little glimpse
of some of the day's activities.

We have had such a fantastic experience with Townsend Montessori Nursery Margate. From the initial phone call I made as an enquiry I was met with such a professional manner from the Deputy Manager, she then met with me in person to discuss the enrolment process which was carried out with such ease and
kindness. Our settle-in sessions were booked for the following week. It was thorough and friendly when explaining all the details of the day-to-day activities and program that our daughter would follow. She then went on to be our daughter's key person for her time with them. The attention to detail of the staff was amazing, down to the tone of voice they used when welcoming the children into the room was noticeable. It’s evident that all the team take such care to ensure your children have the best possible experience in their care. I’d like to give a special mention to the Manager and all the staff here who made the experience so wholesome and easy.

I love this nursery. Our son has absolutely thrived there, from being very upset at being separated from me at all to being so confident now. The staff in rooms, at reception and all support staff are always charming, approachable and polite. They all really care for the children and it's really lovely
to see. I'd love a few more updates on food etc on the app but that is such a minor detail in the context of how happy I am to know about the excellent care he receives whenever he is there!

Lovely nursery, my oldest son attended for 2 years and my youngest is now in his second year. The nursery is always clean and well looked after, my son always comes out smiling and the staff are so polite and can't do enough to help. Highly recommend the nursery to anyone for their children.

I can't say enough about this nursery. The staff are amazing. Very welcoming, kind, helpful, and always smiling. My daughter started in this nursery when she was only 7.5 months. Since then and even now that she is 3 years old, hasn't been a day that she didn't come back home happy. She is always happy
and excited to attend her nursery. Also, within the last year she very talkative, in a positive way, for her teachers and how exciting, good, and funny her day has been.

Used to be very good but since it was taken over it has gone downhill massively.
You now have to pay for bank Holidays even though they are shut.
Timing we're changed so even if you pick up early you have to pay till 5
Used to a get a good report of when they were picked up, however, certain members
of staff give very little details.

This nursery is amazing and really has helped my little boy with his speech and extra needs. He has become more confident since attending this nursery. All the staff are so lovely and kind and the setting is a great space where the children can learn and play.

Great caring staff working in the Lion Cubs room in Townsend Montessori Nursery Margate.
They are very attentive and my son is very happy there.
They have been accommodating with his weaning journey and have been patient in getting him to try new foods-which he recently has started to do!
They put
out different activities for them which are thoughtful and creatively educational.

Very good onboarding process. Everything was explained well, the staff are friendly and professional, and we had detailed updates about how our child was settling in. We appreciated how caring and empathetic they were towards us and our little boy.

Our son has been well cared for at Margate Townsend Montessori Nursery since he started in January 2021. The staff are very friendly and approachable and our son has developed a good relationship with a lot of the ladies who work there in the different rooms. The managers are good at listening to concerns
and being flexible about our son's needs. They have been great at following our son's routine, which has really helped him settle into each room. The food is very well balanced nutritionally.

Best nursery I've experienced. Loveliest staff who are so trusted and warm. I can't fault this centre at all. Amazing place that I'd recommend highly to any family. I've always felt that my son has been cared for in the way that a family member would care for him at Townsend Montessori Nursery. They
have always embraced my son in a trusted and loving way and I've had the utmost faith in the quality and philosophy of this centre. The staff always make me and my family feel welcome and at home. What a bunch of amazing women!

The teachers at the nursery are incredible. They are so kind, thoughtful, caring and inspiring towards my daughter.
The two years my daughter has been present at the nursery has changed her life. She loves being there and I could not ask for a better learning environment.
Although the new owners
have changed some of the systems and I don’t feel they are parent friendly. Which is a shame when the in-house staff are so amazing.

Before Old Station Road took over, I recommend it to everyone. However, that is no longer the case. We were told that it would be a slow transition over to the new system and changing company. However, it wasn't. You have taken away term time, you dictate what sessions. We are paying customers, why
should I have to pay until 6 when I pay this company thousands with both my children. Why do we have to pay for bank Holidays now? Not even open. And the new app is rubbish. Don't see any pictures of children doing activities just the set-up. The staff are incredible. And it's heartbreaking to see this once wonderful nursery just being ripped apart. The staff are the only reason I am still there! Don't even get me started on the price rising when it and only just been done under previous management a month before the change. And quite frankly how the company treats their staff I also find disgusting! Management rating is not based on the Manager in Margate, more the actual managing company The Old Station Nursery Group.

Our daughter absolutely loves going to this nursery, and we love it too. Everyone is so friendly, the activities are creative and fun, and the food provided is excellent. She is so happy and excited about telling us about her day each day she is there. We could not have asked for a better experience.

I find the nursery great, there is brilliant communication from the staff and they seem to really care about my daughter's well-being. She is very happy there and I like that it is a smaller space with not too many children per room.

The nursery have been great, my son is 3 months and is starting nursery. I didn't want to send him so young. But the staff have been amazing and made him settle in very well and I am happy with how they take care of them too.

Hi! I'm Terri, the Nursery Manager at Townsend Montessori Nursery Maidstone. I am also qualified for Advanced NVQ Level 3.


I am passionate about giving children the best start in their early education by providing them with a fun and stimulating environment. This allows them to thrive in their abilities and ensures that they have access to enriching experiences to equip them with an understanding of the world around them. The whole team and I here at Margate reflect this passion and vision within the everyday practice to ensure the ethos is thoroughly embedded throughout the nursery and that all children and families are given the best experience during their time here.
