A stunning location for a welcoming nursery in Hedge End.

Hedge End Day Nursery and Preschool is a spacious yet homely nursery, set in a Grade II listed farmhouse. Located 15 minutes’ walk away from Hedge End train station, the nursery is close to Hedge End Retail Park but still in a residential area.

The nursery has an onsite car park and a covered buggy area. All-inclusive fees mean there is less to pack on a busy morning and the onsite meals are prepared with nutrition in mind. Healthy lunches and snacks as well as chosen branded nappies and wipes are included in the fees.

Every room and feature has been designed to support each child’s development from the age of three months to 5 years. A strong focus on children’s wellbeing is the basis to developing lifelong learners. In the Preschool room especially, the nursery ensures all children have great ownership over their learning, and often carry out votes to encourage confidence and ensure their thoughts are heard. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out with a mixture of imaginative play equipment, creative areas and more to engage children.

Hedge End nursery’s outside space is no different, with an extensive rear garden that boasts an enclosed ‘secret garden’ area with lots of wild play opportunities. This charming wooded area lends itself to bug hunts, den building and natural exploration.

Every member of staff are very kind and helpful.
My son struggled to settle at first but his key worker and other staff in his room didn't give up on trying to help him settle and feel comfortable with them. Now he is doing really well and that's down to them. Wonderful nursery. They are always doing
new activities and it's so lovely having updates throughout the day.

The best nursery with the kindest, most caring people. The staff and management are exactly the sort of people you want to take care of your baby. Cannot recommend them highly enough - we had our daughter in before she was able to sit unassisted and they were super supportive in helping her develop
- she was suddenly able to crawl and walk not too long after. Nursery has encouraged her to develop and the team have been critical to that. Thank you so so much for taking such great care of our little one!

We've 2 girls at Bright Horizons and they love it. They'll keep engaged and learn so much whilst having fun. We measure their fun with how messy they come home - and by that measure they definitely have fun.

Always a friendly welcome every day to both me and my daughter and immediately gives her attention so she feels happy, welcome and calm before I leave. My daughter always leaves happy which is obviously a reflection of her day and we always get an update of how her day was proactively without having
to ask which shows the team are naturally dedicated to caring for the children. Feel she has had a great experience and always tells of what she's enjoyed doing and she's now confident and ready for school.

Excellent nursery. My child is very happy here and loves the outside spaces. Staff are always helpful, friendly and supportive. They are constantly looking to improve their offering, whether it be the addition of the children’s library of books or extra support for stages of your children’s development.

Fab staff. Great communication. My kids love going every day and enjoy every minute. The setting has been recently remodeled and it looks lovely. My oldest starts school in September and the nursery have really listened and helped to work on those areas she needs to improve on before starting school.
She's come a long way.
They have always been very accommodating of the girls routines such as nap times and toileting and it's really been easy since day 1.
Can't fault them really.

My son started in the Bright Horizons Nursery in September and is doing really well! Very happy when I collect him and talks about his day. Staff are always positive and tell us about his day. The staff in the baby room are absolutely fantastic, their dedication to the babies is excellent, and the care they give is great. My little boy loves his days there. They do a variety of different activities and the meals are varied. The process of settling in is great and you are updated regularly
throughout the day via their app on how your baby is doing. They do regular observations so you can see your child’s development.
My only downside for the nursery is more of a head office issue and that relates to their invoicing system. I do not agree with being charged for bank holidays and not being able to gain a proper explanation for why. If this wasn’t an issue I would definitely give the nursery 5 stars, because the staff really are great!

The nursery staff are excellent. They are attentive and accommodating. It is a very good nursery and they support every child in their nursery. They also listen to parents which is paramount. I would absolutely recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter has been attending the nursery unit for nearly two years. The whole time I’ve been so happy with all the staff, transitioning, care and facilities provided. The nursery managers are incredible and very approachable and always have a smile on their faces. The whole nursery setting feels homely
and the staff just complete it, they’re truly an asset to the nursery unit. Highly recommend!

The nursery staff are understanding and compassionate. They are very good with the kids, and the number ratio per staff is manageable, where your child is taken care of and able to form close affectionate bonds. It's safe and secure. My child adapted quickly and they made the transition easy by settling
into sessions. It's a shame they do not offer much flexibility but have options of half-day, full-day, weekly, half weekly enrolment for structure and stability for the children.

I'm happy with the safe environment and incredibly friendly and lovely staff. My son usually enjoys him time there.
I'm usually informed of his progress and lots of photos of all his learning over the time he is there.

My son feels confident to speak and communicate here whereas in his last setting he didn’t say much at all! He tells me he loves preschool. Staff are friendly, caring, open and trustworthy. They implement fun and educational activities for the children including the use of the ‘big garden’ where my
son went on an adventure involving many types of animals and making a ‘campfire’! He happily told me all about this magical adventure. Thank you Bright Horizons for a setting that is somewhere I am confident to leave my child and he is happy to go.


The ladies in preschool are fantastic, they are all amazing and they all get involved with the preschoolers from helping them with manners at lunchtime to checking on them throughout the day. My son is a fussy eater but the staff understand this, remembering what he does like while still encouraging him to try new things. All in all a fantastic setting!

Absolutely amazing Preschool nursery. Our daughter has been very happy there from day one. All members of staff are extremely professional and friendly. But my special thanks to two members of staff. They are making my daughter feel welcome and comfortable every single day. I have never seen her upset

My daughter started preschool in January and I can not praise the staff enough.
She loves going to (big girl school) she has so much fun and we hear so many lovely stories!
Her behaviour has improved dramatically in such a short space of time and the communication daily is great.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Welcome to Hedge End Bright Horizons, we are in a converted farmhouse, near Dowds Farm with the play park and Duck Pond at the end of the road.


I spent 11 years working in the term-time preschool charity sector in Southampton before coming into Bright Horizons nurseries. I think that our Bright Beginnings curriculum: cooking, gardening, yoga, mindfulness and Boogie mites is fantastic for children’s development.


Having my own children was the catalyst for me to work in childcare. I love being around the noise, laughter and singing of children, their interesting conversations, helping them and watching them grow and develop into young people with their individual personalities.


I completed my level 3 before embarking on a Foundation degree at Southampton University followed by a Degree in Education and Training from Portsmouth university.


In my personal time I am passionate about open water swimming, running, fitness and helping others with their anxiety and wellbeing but spend most of my time with my family and puppy having adventures in our camper van.

Hi my name is Danielle, I have worked in childcare for 13 years, I am level 3 qualified in childcare and development and level 4 qualified in management, I have experienced many different roles throughout my childcare career including working my way up from practitioner to preschool manager before moving onto my role here at nursery as Deputy Manager. I have a great passion for giving children the best start in life and believe we can really make a difference in their first experiences through play.
