Kids 1st Low Fell is a purpose-built nursery catering from children aged from birth to five-years-old.

The nursery is split into rooms that are age dependent and take into consideration the child's level of development. Every room has access directly onto large challenging gardens, specially designed for its user group.

Children at Kids 1st Low Fell are given the opportunity to enjoy modern language and music and movement lessons and are also taken out on trips during the year.

The nursery likes to involve parents and holds regular social evenings where parents can meet with their child’s ‘key person’.

Kids 1st Low Fell achieved an 'Outstanding' Ofsted report in Janurary 2020.

Kids 1st Low Fell is a fantastic nursery and our daughter loves attending! Amy and the rest of the staff are brilliant. They are really supportive and work hard at building good relationships with the parents as well as the kids. Our daughter has formed good bonds with the staff in her rooms and we
can tell she is well cared for. Food sounds lovely and is well varied! The new app is really helpful as well. Thank you!

Our son thoroughly enjoys his time at nursery. He is excited to attend and comes home full of stories and enthusiasm about his day. He shares new things he has learned, which fills him full of questions and wonder. For me these are all signs that he is being cared for, stimulated and challenged. During
transitions from room to room, staff have made every effort to make him feel comfortable. They all know him by name, even staff who aren't based in his room. Any queries I have had have been answered and dealt with straight away. A particular mention to Danni in Seahorses room who was his first key worker and made those early days of leaving him for the first time, that bit easier. I often recommend the nursery to others and am really grateful for our time there.

My son has attended Busy Bees Low Fell for the past three years, and he absolutely loves it there. He has recently been diagnosed with some additional needs. The team have been responsive, understanding, and incredibly caring-constantly working with us to ensure his needs are fully met and that he continues
to thrive. It is clear that the staff genuinely care about his well-being. They have made thoughtful adjustments so he can access toys, learning activities, and the environment just as confidently as his peers. Their inclusive approach means he is treated the same as any other child, while still supporting him in the ways he needs.
Because of their dedication, our son has grown so much in confidence. He feels safe, secure, and happy at nursery. We feel truly supported and cared for by the whole team. They have listened to our suggestions and implemented changes almost overnight-we feel heard, reassured, and valued as parents. We cannot speak highly enough of the team.

Excellent, caring staff that get to know the children so well. Low fell kids 1st demonstrates beautifully how every interaction counts, from the moment my little boy enters the door he is greeted so warmly by all of the staff, even the chef knows his name, its been great for his confidence. The staff
are fully invested in the kids here and you know you are in good hands. Amy is an excellent, professional, responsive and hands-on manager that is always there to talk to.

My son has been going to this nursery since he was 10 months old and is now 3. He absolutely loves it! Staff are amazing and all staff make an effort to form a relationship with the children even they do not directly work with him. The communication with the staff is good and I'm always updated on my
son's care. The staff have been great at building my son's strengths and further developing his skills in areas he shows difficulties. I would highly recommend this nursery!

We have two boys at the nursery in different rooms. From when we drop them off to picking them up, I know they're safe and looked after.
The team have great processes in place and communicate really well with parents, the new app has helped this even further. If one is upset the team are great at
comforting while we sneak out, which makes leaving a lot easier - thank you.
My only wish is that we could book a few weeks annual leave in advance, per year for the boys without being charged.
All the staff are friendly, genuinely caring and take care of our boys. Thank you for everything you all do, it's not an easy job!

Our little one has attended Kids 1st Low Fell for about a year and a half now, and we've found this nursery to be absolutely brilliant.
The staff are all second to none. It's reassuring, as a parent, that so many of the staff have been with the nursery for years, as there's a deep level of continuity
and understanding the Kids 1st way. We have always been well-informed and supported, particularly during tricky times when our little boy has struggled with moving into a new room.
There is a lovely atmosphere in the nursery and the children have lots of activities and fun to keep their minds and bodies busy, as well as lots of cuddles from the amazing key workers in each room.
All in all, a brilliant setting and one we trust to enrich our little boy's early years before he moves to school.

We have had nothing but a brilliant experience with the nursery on all levels. The staff are highly professional but also very caring and genuinely care about our little boy and his play and development each day. We feel completely confident that our son gets a good balance of messy play, reading, singing,
and other activities each day. I'm glad to see that he's getting outside a bit more now the cold snap has passed we would generally get him out every day even In the rain as we feel natural light and fresh air is vital for him, especially given the busy environment in the classroom. The communication from the team has been excellent especially if he's had a day where he's been under the weather. I feel the level of attention to detail on his behaviour and mood has been great.
Our sons development and speech has come along in leaps and bounds and we really appreciate the benefits that nursery offer him.

Since my daughter started, I have been massively impressed. She had only spent time in the care of her grandparents, and she quickly became excited about her days at nursery. The staff are all professional and friendly. Her imagination and thirst to learn have been nurtured, and the staff bring this
out in various activities. The parent portal gives you online observations so you can see how well they are developing, and her end of preschool 1 review had me in tears of pride. The menu is incredibly varied and healthy; no quick fix deep fried stuff! They were ahead of the curve with Covid and have continued to be. I have had absolutely no concerns about taking her to the nursery or that she will not enjoy her time with the measures they have in place. There is absolutely no other nursery I would send my children to. Thank you to Kids 1st Low Fell.

My son has been going to Kids 1st Low Fell for 2 1/2 years and he loves it. The nursery is incredibly well led with a very proactive management team. The staff in the room are exceptional. My son is safe and learning, development and happiness are at the forefront of every decision which is made. Parents
are included in every step and as a parent I have made a lot of friends through nursery. The menu is varied, healthy and fun. The chef is incredible - I only wish I could stay for lunch!

The staff do an excellent job in looking after my children. They engage in fun activities and the variety of food offered at mealtimes is good.
My only negatives are the high nursery fees and the entrance to the nursery is very narrow which makes drop-offs difficult during busy periods when there are
oncoming vehicles.

He has continued to develop and is now a confident little boy due to start school.

My daughter has had a fantastic experience at Kid's 1st Low Fell.
She has attended since she was nine months old. She has loved her time at nursery and has made some special friendship groups, many of whom she will be going to school with.

We've had 2 children cared for through Kids 1st Low Fell between 2013 to date. Throughout the time each of our children has spent within their care, we simply cannot fault them. Care and attention and a genuine interest in their development and education both whilst in their care and beyond.

The

food is fabulous and helps develop a wide variety of likes and dislikes with our children, but equally, it's all 'honest home cooked' style and ALWAYS with healthy, good nutrition at the forefront.

We've never had a day where we have had any concerns over the wellbeing of our children, and equally, neither of our boys has ever said they don't want to go. They look forward to it.

Our 4 yr old continues to exceed his peers and amaze us with his continued growth and development. A testament to the excellent care and attention by the staff at Kids 1st Low Fell. A very big THANK YOU.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.171)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.171) out of 10 for Kids 1st Low Fell is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.958 for Kids 1st Low Fell is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.958
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.213 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kids 1st Low Fell is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 108 number of registered child places is 21.6. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 21.6 = 0.463
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
