The staff in the happy hippos are fantastic. They really make my daughters days at nursery special. Whether it be from encouragement to try new things, help with activities, storytime, providing a safe space etc. The activities the nursery take part in each month and all of the themed learning are all little extras to keep each week thoroughly entertaining. Thank you!

I highly recommend Tigers! The quality of care is of high standards, and our children are being well looked after. There is a prompt response to any issue that comes up, and the handling of the Covid situation was always spot on and made us feel safe. The staff are caring and knowledgeable. I can't find any faults really! Feel very lucky that our son attends Tigers!

My daughter absolutely loves her time at Tigers. The staff are brilliant with the kids and keep them constantly entertained. First-class facilities with lovely outdoor spaces. Great feedback to parents from the staff on what the children are up to and how they are developing. Proactive communication from the management team. Highly recommended.

There are so many nurseries in the surrounding area that choosing one for our son two years ago felt like a daunting task. But I am so pleased we chose Tigers! The staff are fantastic, very engaging and genuinely care about my son’s happiness and development. The activities they do are extremely varied and are clearly linked to developmental milestones for the age of the group. Although fairly central, the nursery has some lovely outdoor space which they use every day. Our son loves going there and feels very happy and comfortable in the nursery.

I chose this nursery for my child, as when I visited, I could see it was a friendly, safe and professional. My experience has exceeded all my expectations as my child has been kept safe with extra measures have been introduced in response to the pandemic, the support for his development has been second to none, and the nursery has been flexible and responsive when my working arrangements have been changing. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough, the staff are all friendly, caring and professional, and I have every trust in them caring for my child.

Tigers have cared for three of our children now, and each and every time have exceeded our expectations.
The team are always friendly and welcoming and giving children cuddles when needed, they have made me feel totally at ease.
Even in these difficult times, all the procedures make me feel comfortable that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure staff and children are as safe as possible.
Fantastic communication from the nursery.
Tigers ensure the children are happy and they have plentiful activities to keep the children engaged.
The outside areas are great too.
We couldn't be happier; the children are well prepared for the transition to Primary School.

Our opinion... exceptional!

Our daughter started at Tigers in September 2020, at a time when she had spent months without social interaction with other children and adults as a consequence of the National Lockdown. At that time, she had become extremely hesitant around people when out on walks, and we were worried about her starting back at nursery. Tigers were extremely supportive and welcoming, and within a couple of weeks, we had noticed a considerable change in her behaviour. Months later, she has made friends with the children and staff and loves going to nursery and enjoying the lovely outside spaces on offer. Thank you, Tigers.

Tigers is an exceptional nursery. The measures they have taken to keep children and staff safe during the pandemic have been very professional, yet they have ensured that nursery is a fun, safe place for children. My eldest has thrived at Tigers, and now in the preschool room, is making such progress with his numbers and letters, important social skills. The nursery has been a safe and happy place for him and provided stability for him when he was unable to meet his extended family and friends to play with. My youngest has just started his settling in sessions, and the staff have made the process very smooth and reassuring for him. We are very proud and relieved that he has settled in so well and enjoying interacting with his peers in a way he was unable to do before. Thank you!

Would definitely recommend Tigers, the staff are brilliant and keep you updated with everything. My son was really clingy before he started and wouldn’t stay with anyone. The staff were brilliant with him, and after a few weeks, he settled in and now loves going to nursery. He’s come on so well since starting, and we’ve noticed a massive difference in him.

Excellent nursery, both of my children have had a wonderful experience here. The staff are fab and always go the extra mile to make sure the children are happy. Both of my children particularly loved the extra classes that are available (French, dance, forest school to name a few). The outside space is beautiful, especially the wild garden. The management is amazing, and also go above and beyond to accommodate every request, especially throughout the Covid19 pandemic. Thank you, Tigers!

Our daughter moved nurseries a year ago (due to a house move) at 2-years-old, and I was nervous as I couldn't imagine finding a better nursery, but Tigers have surpassed our expectations. All staff are so friendly and helpful, and the nursery was extremely supportive during the lockdown situation. I feel they really do what is best for the child.

My son has been at Tigers since September, and he has loved everything about it! From the moment I dropped him off into the Little Cubs room, I knew we’d chosen the right place for him, he seemed so at home. He has now moved up to Cheeky Monkeys, and the transition was seamless. The team have welcomed him in with open arms, and he has developed so much, from walking, talking and eating, to playing, reading and socialising.
In a time where we are missing our family and friends, we have gained a new family and some new friends in the staff and children at Tigers.

Thank you for everything!

Our little boy goes to nursery two days a week and has been since he was 1, he is nearly 3 now. Since attending, we have noticed big improvements in his speech and understanding. Tigers are an excellent nursery who keep us informed of their progress. The app is excellent.

In a time when everything was unknown and a bit frightening Tigers gave our son a consistently warm, safe and fun environment. I have been genuinely overwhelmed by their kindness and support of parents during the pandemic. We simply could not have asked for more. My son loves going to nursery and gets so excited driving up the lane. Due to lockdown, he had to settle back into nursery again after a 6-month break and they were amazingly thoughtful about it. He also had a speech delay and the staff in his room did speech support with him every day to help his development and now his language is growing all the time. The little updates they send during the day of all the fun he gets up to makes my day. We are so grateful to Tigers, as first time parents who work full time the knowledge that our little boy is there, happy and thriving is so comforting. Thank you all.

I've never seen so nice a nursery. Honestly, are very impressed, it is the best nursery we have seen without any doubts. We really love the location (a nature garden), facilities (spacious cosy rooms), activities (campfire, daily painting, singing, development and doing something all the time), and the policy (not paying for Bank Holidays, 4 weeks discount for holidays). Seems that the owner is a very nice and wise owner. Not only doing it for money but with care and focus on children and families instead. Thanks for that! The other nurseries should take an example from Tigers!

My sister used Tigers for her Children and I'd visited a couple of times to see their annual activities so it was easy for me to choose a nursery for my own daughter. The surroundings are nice and the building. Staff are always engaging and kind.
My daughter settled in well and has been attending for 4 months. The settle in time was made as easy as possible and we get great communication electronically and every time I drop off and pick up.

I'm really pleased and would recommend Tigers.

Both my children went to this nursery.

Both children love the staff, the environment and the activities. My oldest does not go there anymore as he’s at school now but when we pick up his brother, it’s amazing as everyone talks to him and remembers him fondly.

The staff are amazing and always friendly towards the Mums and Dads.

I am pleased that they gave and are giving my children happy memories to start their school life.

Well done and thank you to all the staff at Tigers.

Right from the beginning Tigers has delivered outstanding care in a happy, friendly and loving environment, always working in partnership with parents, keeping them informed and involved.

As our business has expanded, our exceptional standards have always remained and we are justifiably proud of our dedicated, knowledgeable and caring staff. All members of our management team share our passion for quality childcare and together we provide the leadership, training, resources and environment for our nursery staff to excel at what they do and to keep Tigers at the forefront of nursery care. Many of our team have been with Tigers for several years, giving continuity and a unique family atmosphere to our nurseries.

Tigers’ ethos is and always has been to provide the best possible experience for each and every child in a safe, stimulating environment supported by loving, friendly staff – something we hold dear to our hearts.

Hello, my name is Cara, I have recently joined Tigers as an operations manager.

I have a background in Education, specialising in Early Years. I have always been drawn to Early Years, primarily as an Early Years teacher, Leader and Manager of Nurseries, Montessori and mainstream schools. I have a wealth of experience that I draw on constantly, from being a Forest School Leader, Inclusion Officer and a Signalong Tutor.

I am extremely passionate about our youngest children. I enjoy learning new skills, constantly researching new ways to teach and support children, and training and supporting other practitioners to ensure we meet each individual child’s needs to become independent learners.

I am super excited to have joined Tigers, and to be part of this wonderful team here.

Nicola Barkhouse Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1999
Nicola Barkhouse

Hi, I’m Nicola Barkhouse, Senior Nursery Manager of Tigers Day Nursery. I came to Tigers as a placement as part of my NNEB training in 1997 and joined the company in 1999 when I finished my qualification. Since then I have completed my level 4 and level 5 childcare qualifications.

Over the years I have worked with all age groups as a nursery nurse and room senior before becoming a manager. Stepping away from running my own room was a big decision but in my role now I have the best of both worlds as I am able to spend time with the children but also show new parents around the nursery and support the staff to achieve the high standards of care and teaching we offer at Tigers.

One of my roles is the nursery SENDCO and I really enjoy this role as I strongly believe that every child deserves the absolute best start in life and the opportunity to attend Nursery.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my five nephews and friends and family.
