My daughter has been attending the nursery for the past 10 months since she was 13 months old, and I cannot fault the establishment. I viewed a handful of nurseries before choosing and I felt the Murrayfield's standards were on a higher level than all other nurseries viewed. This has been proven during
my daughters time there. The staff are all very informative and friendly. My daughter enjoys going to nursery and has bonded well with the staff. The structured play and learning has really helped with her development. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the nursery to anyone.

Fantastic nursery, great environment with a stable and committed team. My daughter loves attending and has developed greatly in the 2.5 years she has been going. Feedback and interactions with staff are very positive, they genuinely seem to love working at The Murrayfield Nursery, this comes through
with the children. Cannot rate highly enough.

We recently put our daughter into The Murrayfield Nursery after switching from another nursery in Edinburgh City Centre. Absolutely delighted with the decision. Staff are excellent, care is top-notch, facilities are great, lots of cuddles for the babies! All in all a great place to send your child.

Excellent nursery.
My son was attending another well-known nursery and we had a few issues there about his food and toilet habits.
We discussed that with the manager and her response was encouraging for us.
Within short time, my son settled well in the nursery and the staff took extra care to sort
out the issues we had in the previous nursery.
Staff pay special attention to the child's progress and well-being.
We are really pleased with this nursery and highly recommend to any parent looking for an excellent nursery.

Highly recommend this nursery. My 6-month-old was looked after extremely well by the amazing staff and wasn’t a problem that he had a milk allergy, lovely friendly environment for the little ones to grow and play. Staff engage in so many activities I don’t know how they get it all in. You can be up
to date with your little one with the Famly App that keeps you informed on what they are up to eating, sleeping, nappy changes. Can’t recommend this nursery enough.

My daughter attended Murrayfield Nursery from the age of 7 months through to leaving to go to primary school. We have always found the staff to be warm, approachable and professional and keen to address any concerns or issues in partnership with parents. It seems as though they have done a great job
in preparing my daughter for primary school. We will be sending her little brother to Murrayfield Nursery shortly as we have had such thoroughly positive experiences to date. We particularly appreciated all the efforts made by the nursery to ensure that the children get outside wherever possible, and to take part in physical activities outdoors or in the scout hall - as well as indoor based play and learning. My daughter loved book club in her last year at nursery and I feel it did lots to develop her critical reasoning/ analytical skills ahead of school. Would not hesitate to recommend.

I have had 3 children at the nursery with 2 still there.
They offer a free settling period that you can take prior to starting, which other nurseries do not offer. I took my kids for one hour play sessions the month before starting, which was helpful.
The time that they spend outdoors and the eco-garden
is great. Things they did included building a fire - cooking sausages and marshmallows on it, catching tadpoles, napping in a hammock, making their own mudslides, a lot of fun! They also have access to the Scout Hall next door, when the weather is bad and offer classes such as Enjoy-A-Ball and Monkey Music.
When I do have issues, management and staff are excellent at dealing with the issue and genuinely concerned about their wellbeing.
I also like how they have a hot cooked meal at lunchtime.
When my eldest left he didn’t want to leave, but when he started school, he was ahead of his peers in terms of learnings. Other parents of his class noticed that of their children when they went to P1 too.

We have always been very happy with the care our daughter receives at the Murrayfield Nursery. The staff have always taken great care to make sure that she is happy there and that her individual needs are met. I really feel that no matter which room she has been in that the team there really get to
know her and what she likes/dislikes. The staff communicate well with each other and also with us as parents. Our daughter loves the nursery and learns so much as well as having a lot of fun.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for a year now, since she was 9 months old. Her settling in period was incredibly well organised by the nursery and the transition to nursery very smooth. My daughter has a great time at nursery, she is learning so much everyday. The staff are patient and
kind, give their all to the children and I have great peace of mind when she is at nursery. Cleanliness is a high priority at the nursery, my daughter has had one day of sick in a year and I am convinced this is aided by the nursery’s high standards of cleanliness etc. I would really recommend checking out Murrayfield Nursery, compared to other nurseries I reviewed, Murrayfield nursery are head and shoulders above the rest.

The nursery is such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are all first class (as well as meals) and we are extremely happy with our son’s development during his time at the nursery.
Good outdoor space including eco-garden.

The care and interest the staff give to the children is outstanding. The entire team are open and committed. They are focused on each individual child and continuous improvement. It's great to see investment in the nursery and the updates to some tired rooms, toys and garden area.
I cannot fault the
staff and being able to go to work and not worry is amazing, knowing my child is having fun, learning and cared for. 5-star care.

We have had two children in the nursery. Our eldest is now in primary school and our youngest is in Big Teds. Our children are always very happy about going into nursery and often don't want to leave. The staff are great and always willing to speak to us, They definitely get to know the children and
do what is best for them. They appear to genuinely care about them and our kids are very fond of the staff. The manager is fantastic and sets the feel of the nursery. We've had a very positive experience.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.206)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.206) out of 10 for Murrayfield Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.806 for Murrayfield Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.806
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Murrayfield Nursery is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 number of registered child places is 18. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
