Both of my grandchildren have made excellent progress at Shotley Bridge Nursery. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and parents/grandparents/carers are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities with their children. The activities are well planned to make learning fun and also to meet the
needs and interests of the children. The children are actively encouraged to explore materials both inside and in the outdoor area. I feel they are encouraged and supported by staff in everything they do. I love the way the children are involved in the community eg. visiting old people, planting vegetables with the support of the Alt group, then when they have grown, preparing them for lunch/snacks. The children also have the opportunity to be involved in the French language group. I feel that all staff from students to directors have time to listen to parents and that our views are valued.

I find all staff from management throughout all staff in the nursery, very approachable and ready to answer any questions that you may have.
They understand and take the time to understand and help each individual child's needs.
The update throughout the day on your child and the nursery website is
fantastic.
Overall I personally could not speak highly enough about Shotley Bridge nursery.
They have cared for several of my grandchildren over the years. Very pleased.

As a member of the nursery PTA, I have a strong connection with the nursery. My daughter also benefits from the exceptional teaching and classroom environment. She is currently beginning her second year at Shotley Bridge and her younger sister will attend in January.
All staff are friendly and have
fantastic relationships with all the children.

My son really enjoys coming to nursery now that he has settled in. Originally my son came on an afternoon but it wasn't working for him. The nursery allowed us to change to mornings and this has helped my son. The development my son has made since coming to the nursery is great. He is making friends
and his confidence is growing. He loves coming to nursery and the staff are great.

This is the best nursery I've ever seen. The team is very friendly, they take care of every single child. When my daughter cries they give her a hug. When she started at the nursery she couldn't speak English, now after 5 months my 2.5-year-old child can speak simple words, she knows numbers 1-10 and
colours as well. Everybody is very nice, they are always smiling and every day they are teaching them something new. The nursery is always very tidy - kids change their shoes - this is great. The best nursery in our region. My daughter loves this nursery.

My child really enjoys attending nursery, she talks about her teachers at home all the time. They are very friendly staff who give their love and support not only to my child but our family as well. Activities they provide are exciting to keep my child involved. She has come a long way since starting
here. They offer so much more opportunities alongside their everyday curriculum, such as first aid, mighty monsters and dancing, all of which give my daughter confidence.

The word 'amazing' jumps to my mind about Shotley Bridge Nursery School Ltd. My granddaughter has developed so much and she loves attending nursery. Her key worker and the rest of the staff are fantastic and show a lot of care towards her. She attends nursery two days a week but attends extra sessions
to take part in activities they provide. My daughter was so upset when I left her at first, but now they are all part of our family and we feel so comfortable.

My son has attended the nursery since the age of 2. I have always been impressed with the team's dedication to individual children and their development. They operate a fun and friendly facility with a wide range of activities and outings. I have full confidence and the peace of mind that my child is
being looked after and is encouraged daily to meet his full potential.
I cannot give enough praise to the staff who are upbeat and patient and it is evident that they genuinely care for the children in their care.

My little boy is 3 years old and loves attending nursery. He is making great progress in all areas of development. I have attended lots of event's planned by the nursery, including "we're going on a ghost" was a fabulous walk in fancy dress to the local park. It was a great way to meet other parents
and watch him play with his friends. The staff are amazing and always go the extra mile to help. I know my son is in good hands when I drop his off at nursery. He always comes home singing and loves talking about what he has done on the day.

My daughter has now attended this nursery for a year and I'm extremely pleased with her progress so far. She has grown in confidence and developed very well. All the staff I have encountered have been friendly and welcoming, especially those within the streams. I'm thankful to all of the staff within
the streams for looking after my daughter so well. She goes in with confidence every time and is never upset when I leave, which is clearly a good sign that she is happy at nursery. I originally chose the nursery due to the open airy feeling as opposed to other local nurseries. It's always clean and has great facilities and it's not full of the toys you would expect at home. They use natural products and allow the children to go outside which is great. I would highly recommend Shotley Bridge Nursery School.

I could not recommend this nursery enough, having two children passed through this nursery. All staff are approachable concerning aspects of our children's care and are fully equipped to give sound advice and support.
My children have enjoyed snack times after experiencing a full range of different
foods. The nursery boasts an advanced security system, ensuring the protection of children while in the building. The grounds nursery are clean and beautiful, with everything children could need. My children have been very happy in their early stages here and developed good skills in all areas of their development, ready to go into their school life. Extra activities and social events encourage parents to communicate and socialise, making friends for both children and parents.
If anyone is looking for a nursery, without a doubt I would point them in the direction of Shotley Bridge Nursery School, I thank them for their efforts in making our children's first experiences a fantastic one.

I used Shotley Bridge Nursery School for holiday cover over the 6 weeks holiday and my daughter could not have been happier. All the staff welcomed her in with open arms and despite her never attending the nursery as preschooler Grace loved being there. I know the new wrap around service is new to this
nursery but I can not recommend them enough. Will definitely be looking to this nursery for future holiday care.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.919 for Shotley Bridge Nursery School Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (458 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 491 Ratings = 4.919
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shotley Bridge Nursery School Ltd is based on 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 number of registered child places is 19.6, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
