Set in a happy and welcoming environment, Kids Planet Austhorpe provides care and education for babies, toddlers and children up to the age of five years.

The nursery’s team of friendly staff is highly experienced and provides a stimulating and enabling environment to promote children’s learning and development. They work closely with parents to establish the best transition through the nursery rooms for the individual child, waiting until they reach certain developmental phases rather than progressing according to age.

Children at the nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage in the activities they participate in, which enables them to learn and absorb effectively in a supportive environment, while also developing softer skills such as communication and relationship building.

The nursery offers out of school clubs, including a before school club, an after school club, and a holiday club, all of which provide children with a fun atmosphere where they can play, draw or complete homework.

The staff are really good with my little boy. They comfort him every morning as he doesn’t like leaving his mummy. A wide range of activities.

My daughter is in her final year at Kids Planet Sunbeams, having been attending for over two and a half years. During this time she has developed incredibly well, moving through the Sunbeams classes with her friends and still thoroughly enjoys her time there. She has been cared for by many people as
she progressed and we've had wonderful experiences with all of them. The team have always been fantastic and looked after my daughter and her classmates exceptionally.

Both of my children have been to Kids Planet Sunbeams Austhorpe. My three year old son is there currently. I chose Sunbeams Austhorpe as it came highly recommend by many of my friends, most of who are primary teachers. I have been very impressed with the care that is provided. Many of the carers have
looked after both of my children and I have got to know them well. Retainment of staff suggests that it is a positive environment for people to work, which is reflected in the care provided. The carers are very loving and calming and seem to show genuine care towards all the children. The rooms are always clean and tidy and both of my children have enjoyed the food. There is always lots of messy play, singing and dancing. The outside area is fantastic and the children get lots of fresh air regularly. Two staff members are always extremely helpful if I have any queries. My children have made strong bonds with their carers and I feel confident that they will enjoy their day on leaving them!

Fantastic nursery, my little one gets so much out of it and she loves attending and all the staff. The activities are varied and the themed days are amazing. The food is so good, better than any nursery I know of and the reporting is ace.

My son absolutely loves coming to nursery here. The staff are incredible and show so much care and attention, remembering so many little details about him and relaying information to me on what he's been up to during his days. Communication from the manager is always outstanding, she responds to any
queries quickly and whoever is on the reception desk always greets you with a smile. Both of my children have attended this nursery and I have never had any complaints and would highly recommend to anyone!

I have 2 children at the nursery one in preschool and one in the toddler room, both seem to enjoy it and have made good friendships and relationships with the staff. They have become more confident and independent and enjoy the activities set up for them. The staff are all very friendly and the food
menus seem good and varied. The Blossom App is useful to see what they have been up to (but it is often slow to update and notify me of the days update). Overall I am pleased with the nursery and how they have helped my children develop.

Our son has attended Sunbeams Austhorpe since July 2021 and now the team feel like family. The staff in the infant room helped him settle in really quickly which was so reassuring after the difficult times we all experienced in the lockdowns. He has developed and flourished in their care in the infant,
toddler and rising 3 rooms. He loves all the varied fun activities and really looks forward to all his home cooked meals. We have already got a place for our little girl to start at the end of the year and know she will have the same nurturing experience.

I think the nursery is good, the staff are very kind and attentive to our daughter, and the overall experience is good.
The only minor concern we have is regarding the dirty clothing and shoes we get home every day, although we are aware that it is something difficult to control.

My daughter loves attending nursery here. The staff are always friendly, warm and caring and have really taken their time to get to know her and her interests. She has developed in confidence since starting at nursery and has benefited from socialising with children her own age. There are always interesting
activities set out in the room, and the themes are ones that she enjoys and talks about at home. The food menu is varied and encourages her to be more adventurous with the things she tries.

I have two children at Sunbeams and cannot fault it. Both of them enjoy being there, and I feel like all of the staff go out of their way to get to know them and what they like/do not like. It is also very easy to contact them, calls are always answered and emails have always been responded to promptly.

Our son joined this nursery shortly after the pandemic started (as he was originally somewhere closer to work than a home for ease), and from day 0 to his last day, the nursery has been absolutely fantastic!
The only reason we moved to another nursery is we moved out of the area!
He has grown loads
in both mental and physical abilities, sometimes seemingly overnight! Every day he came home having done or learnt something new and is excited to tell us who he's played with, what dress up he's worn today or how many times he's been down the slide.
The staff are fantastic, everyone knows you or knows of you and are super friendly and helpful. The diary app is great, letting us see what he's eaten and done for the day, which helps us understand why he's so excited when he gets home. No request is too big, especially when it comes to the children's routines, and happy to adjust to help.
We can't thank the team enough for everything.

My little boy comes here two mornings a week, my eldest who is now 11, also used to come.
It is an amazing nurser, with really friendly staff, and always goes over and beyond.
My little boy absolutely loves it; he is a clingy baby and doesn’t go to many people, but happily waves bye-bye to myself
(mummy) and his daddy in the morning.
I highly recommend it; they support potty training and anything you are doing at home, which helps improve there too.

All the staff at your Austhorpe Nursery are absolutely amazing, it is definitely like all the staff are one big family, and I truly am grateful. They really are the best. I am a single mum who works full time, but I know that my son is well looked after, and he looks forward to going, which is such
a relief for me. The manager and all the staff are just brilliant. One lady is just brilliant with him; she has really taken the time to get to know him and listens to things that we are doing at home, so they can be followed in the nursery. She supports me so much, which is so reassuring, and I am so grateful for. She is truly a credit to you!

Tentative staff, clearly invested in your child. Made me feel at ease immediately. The app gives you all the information you need to feel reassured. My child has a great bond with her keyworker, and that shows the effort put in by the staff.

Leanne Buchanan

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Leanne joined Austhorpe Nursey Leeds in September 2009 as a senior nursery Nurse and worked her way up to join the managers team in 2014. As well as being a mum of two with 19 years’ experience with working in Early years, she holds a level 3 Diploma and Level 4 in Early Childhood polices, as well as a Level 3 Management. She is very passionate when it comes to child development and working with the practitioners to build a rich learning environment for the children.
