Partou Lidgett Lane Day Nursery & Pre-School in Gledhow provides high-quality care and education for babies and children up to the age of five. The nursery is a single-storey setting, with cosy but stimulating playrooms for different age groups and a range of exciting outdoor areas.

There is a strong focus on ‘loose part play’ throughout the setting, using natural resources and real-life objects in place of plastic toys. This approach is used to encourage children to be curious about the world around them, inspiring them to have fun learning in beautiful surroundings.

The nursery’s experienced childcare practitioners hold childcare qualifications, paediatric first aid certificates and safeguarding training. Every team member has enhanced DBS checks and the nursery has CCTV and secure door entry systems for added security.

They offer a wide range of learning activities covering all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children also go on regular trips into Gledhow and Roundhay, including the nearby Roundhay Park and Tropical World.

15 and 30 Hours Funded Childcare places are available for eligible families.

Have used Mulberry Bush for all 3 of my children. The staff are kind and caring and have a good rapport with the children. They all enjoy(ed) attending and are engaged in a good range of fun and educational activities. The manager is responsive and flexible to meeting individual needs. Would recommend.

We are incredibly grateful to the staff at Mulberry Bush, particularly in the baby room, for how well they helped our daughter settle into nursery. Given the current climate, we were unable to go into the room with our daughter when she began, which only increased our nerves, but the wonderful staff
did everything they could to help her settle in and she now absolutely loves nursery.
We are confident that she is well looked after, entertained, and loved, during her time at nursery. Picking up a happy, messy child at the end of each day is all we could ask for.

Both of our daughters have attended the Mulberry Bush and we are pleased to say that currently, the nursery seems to be running as well as we have seen it over the last 6 or so years. Staff turnover is relatively low (certainly for the industry) and the staff are all really warm and friendly.
We
love the way the current team make use of all the space even using the car park for pancake flipping races or a car-washing activity - brilliant! Our daughter also loves the trips out to the local swings or library.
We NEVER have tears over going to nursery and on a recent weekend away our daughter's main concern was how her nursery friends would know where she was!
She also constantly talks about her 'teachers' and asks if they can come to play at our house. So cute!

Mulberry Bush is an amazing nursery. All my children have been to this nursery - I have never had a reason to look elsewhere. I have always found the staff and management approachable and extremely professional. My boys love the nursery and this is all down to the care, attention and guidance that everyone
at the nursery provides on a daily basis. My cooking often gets compared to the food they enjoy at nursery - I always seem to lose!! The rooms are all very engaging, calm, purposeful and stimulating. My boys are never bored at nursery. I love, love, love the outside space - the recent refurb is fantastic.

Our son of 3.5 years old has been at Mulberry Bush since he was 9 months old and he has been extremely happy to spend all this time there. All the staff who looked after him have been wonderful and he loved all of them. They really helped him to go through all the different growth phases. He has made
some great friends in the nursery as well. The outdoor area is as well really well done and they do spend lots of time playing in the different gardens which is great.

My daughter started at Mulberry Bush at the start of the year. She's not able to communicate as well as others at the moment, and as a mother, this was a big concern of mine for her, but the staff there were very reassuring and supportive of both me and my daughter and she settled in very quickly. Since
being there her speech has improved and she's become more confident, she's always excited to go to nursery in the morning. I am really happy with the care my daughter gets whilst there and also she really enjoys the meals. The staff do a brilliant job and I would recommend Mulberry Bush.

Mulberry Bush is a lovely nursery. I found it quite stressful choosing the right place but I am very pleased with my choice. The staff have been very kind and welcoming since the start and have accommodated my baby's dietary requirements brilliantly so that I don't have to worry about his allergies/nutrition.
The staff have really worked hard to get to know my baby and help him baby settle in as he was quite upset at being left at first. He comes home happy and I love reading the report about what he has been up to and eaten during the day. I drop him off feeling confident he is being cared for and having fun.

Excellent nursery! I was very apprehensive about the whole nursery process but with the support of the staff and amazing manager, it couldn't have gone any better. My son sets off and comes home very happy and excited about his day at nursery. The nursery staff are very friendly, punctual and engaged

I have found The Mulberry Bush to be a friendly, warm and safe space for my daughter to spend time at. The staff are welcoming and make a point of greeting myself and my daughter each time we drop off, no matter what they are doing. A full debrief of what my daughter has been up to that day, eaten,
who she has played with and how her mood has been is given upon collection. I feel they have really taken the time to get to know her because they want to, not just because that’s their job. I go off to work relaxed with the knowledge that my daughter is in safe hands, each time I collect her she is well fed, well played, tuckered out and content!
The time spent preparing for school is evident, at home my daughter is writing her name, recognising more numbers and letters and words. Fantastic!

Serena Cottle-Benson

ABOUT ME:
I joined the team at Mulberry Bush with over 23 years of nursery experience, having worked within the childcare sector since the age of 17.


Across the last seven years, I have worked in a management role, guiding my nurseries to consistent ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ Ofsted ratings.


Growing up in Gloucestershire, I moved north to Leeds in 2017 where I married two years later.


WHY CHILDCARE?
You could say it runs in the family! My aunt was a nursery manager and a great source of inspiration for myself, often taking me to her settings from an early age.


During my teens, I would often spend school holidays helping in her nurseries. It was those times that gave me the drive to provide the very best care and opportunities for children in the early years sector.


INTERESTS & HOBBIES:
I'm a big fan of horror and true crime novels. Baking is one of my passions, and I enjoy whipping up all kinds of cakes and sweet treats.


On a winter night, you'll often find me cosied up with a warm blanket, my two dogs, and a fantastic Christmas movie – it's the perfect way to unwind!
