Partou Lidgett Lane Day Nursery & Pre-School in Gledhow provides high-quality care and education for babies and children up to the age of five. The nursery is a single-storey setting, with cosy but stimulating playrooms for different age groups and a range of exciting outdoor areas.

There is a strong focus on ‘loose part play’ throughout the setting, using natural resources and real-life objects in place of plastic toys. This approach is used to encourage children to be curious about the world around them, inspiring them to have fun learning in beautiful surroundings.

The nursery’s experienced childcare practitioners hold childcare qualifications, paediatric first aid certificates and safeguarding training. Every team member has enhanced DBS checks and the nursery has CCTV and secure door entry systems for added security.

They offer a wide range of learning activities covering all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children also go on regular trips into Gledhow and Roundhay, including the nearby Roundhay Park and Tropical World.

15 and 30 Hours Funded Childcare places are available for eligible families.

The team are so proud of their nursery. Call to make an appointment and take a closer look at everything they have to offer.

My child is always happy to go to preschool and see other children and her teachers. She feels safe and I'm very happy with the care and attention she receives. Over a few weeks, she has made excellent progress with her toilet training and expanded her vocabulary.

Lovely kind staff. I feel at ease when I leave my child with them as I know that they will take good care of her. I’m always reassured and am able to call whenever to check on my daughter and staff are very kind and understanding. I can’t fault anything as I’m satisfied and very happy with all the staff
that take care of my daughter. She’s in good hands.

My grandson loves coming to nursery morning. I feel his development and needs are all being met. The staff are all very welcoming and keep me informed of all that's happening on a daily basis. This last term has been particularly inclusive, parents and carers have been invited to take part in many of
the activities.

Both my children enjoy attending nursery. The staff are kind and helpful. Since the manager returned from maternity leave there has been a huge improvement in communication and experiences planned. We receive feedback daily from the staff in the rooms. We receive monthly newsletters and are invited
in for certain events eg Valentine's Day and Easter egg hunt.

It's been a difficult few months since the Ofsted report was released and the nursery has bounced back with great momentum. Unfortunately, I am unable to recognise it as excellent just yet as there are still issues with frequent communication, updates to learning journals and individual feedback about
the progress of the child. The last parents' evening was in 2021.
Fingers crossed the nursery continues to improve and build on success.

We’ve been really happy with my daughter's development since her arrival. They have been flexible with their availability for her (we’re both self-employed so things chop and change regularly with our schedules) on a week-by-week basis. She has bonded fantastically with her care team.
Points to improve
on for a 5* rating - Safeguarding: The care and attention from the staff is great, but we felt to warrant 5* the safeguarding for potential hazardous situations needs a little more attention (all easily fixable issues)
*Larger cot with higher sides.
*More rugs would avoid any bad bumps.
Cleanliness - The cleanliness is very good, but one thing that we noted was the use of bleach/detol being used for the end-of-day cleaning, whilst the children are still in attendance. Cleaning chemicals are notoriously bad for general health, especially bad for babies, so switching out those for safer eco products would be much better or completing the end-of-day clean after all children leave.

My daughter is nearly two and has been going to the nursery since she was just over a year old, she is now in the toddler room and hasn’t been there very long but the difference in her development that I’ve seen in such a short time is amazing. Well cared and I wouldn’t want any other nursery to be
looking after my daughter she is happy where she is.

My daughter has been coming to this nursery since 2018 and she loves it. She has always had a great time and is comfortable with all the workers there - they are all lovely and enthusiastic. She never hesitates to go in and has taken part in a wide variety of activities. She is in pre-school now and
we're really enjoying seeing the progress she makes each week and what she has been learning. Thank you to all the staff at Mulberry!

We couldn’t be happier with Mulberry Bush. The staff are so kind and caring, they all know our son, even those in different rooms. At first, we were worried, as our son joined the nursery as a 3-year-old and without knowing a single word in English, but the staff are incredibly lovely, kind and patient
with him. We have absolute full confidence in them when we leave our little one in the mornings. Great learning place. We couldn’t have chosen a better nursery.

We are very happy with the care that our son receives at Mulberry Bush. He took a little time to adjust when he first started and we were very grateful for the kindness and patience the staff showed him. He always eats all of his meals and is all smiles when we collect him at the end of the day.

We’re very happy with our choice of nursery. Our child’s development and behaviour has really been honed here, and the staff are always very friendly and engaging.
Our child often talks about her teachers at home, which shows a positive impression has been left on her. She’s always very much looking
forward to going to nursery!

Mulberry Bush have cared for my children since 2012 and have received an excellent level of care. My youngest, who is currently in the Pre-School room, loves coming to nursery. Drop-offs are so much easier when your child is happy to walk in without a backward glance! The staff are caring and always
approachable. I have recommended Mulberry Bush to friends in the past and would do so again without hesitation.

My daughter attended Mulberry Bush for nearly four years and my son has also moved up from the baby room and is now in pre-school. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, particularly the staff are fantastic and caring and so enthusiastic. I've really enjoyed seeing the transition to the loose parts
play and imagination station concepts, the kids love it. I never feel I have to do messy play at home as they do so many fun things in the rooms! The varied menu cooked on the premises always seems to have gone down well, and the outside areas are full of imaginative and active play possibilities. They have close learning links particularly with the local school and nursery at preschool stage. I do miss not being able to go inside at the moment and share in all the fun parent/carer events and involvement as that was always enjoyable to share the kids' environment for an hour or two.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.503)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.503) out of 10 for Partou Lidgett Lane Day Nursery & Pre-School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.553 for Partou Lidgett Lane Day Nursery & Pre-School is calculated as follows: ( (141 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.553
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Partou Lidgett Lane Day Nursery & Pre-School is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 number of registered child places is 12, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
