Little Achievers Nursery in the Park, in Skelmersdale, has excellent indoor and outdoor play environments for early years learning, benefiting from strong community links, including with outreach workers and health visitors, to offer parents the complete childcare package.

Additional features include a fabulous Reggio Emilia inspired approach to early years, multi-sensory room, separate playrooms for babies and toddlers, and soft play surfacing. The nursery has pre-school facilities and an outdoor play is even accessible regardless of the weather. The multi-sensory room is a fabulous resource and the children benefit from spending time in this area, it can aid sensory skills and can be used to relax and calm too.

The outdoor area is amazing, with a very different covered area for all year around use and an outdoor activity room. Outdoors is split into areas to promote different challenges for children from potion making, constructing, tinkering on the piano, wheeled toys to aid spatial awareness, and a natural garden area for investigating and bug hunting.

Staff are all dedicated to ensuring the children have a safe, secure and stimulating environment that meets the children’s own individual needs and promoting independence whilst allowing them to take risks with adult support.

The nursery holds the coveted Millies Mark for excellence in paediatric First Aid (the only nursery in Skelmersdale to hold the award) and the Lancashire step into Quality Award.

Learning journeys for all children are offered both to see the progress their child is making at nursery via photographs, written comments and communication, along with being a beautiful portfolio of memories for the future.

Lovely caring staff look after the children wonderfully. The manager is friendly and approachable and very flexible which is very reassuring. My son loves his time here and I know he is well looked after which is absolutely everything. I love getting updates on the eyLog it's so lovely to see what he

Excellent day nursery, my little boy loved it, he often talks about it even though he has started school. He came on a long way with his learning and eating and I really appreciate all the hard work of all the staff.
I would recommend this nursery as one of the best in the area.

My daughter loved coming to holiday club, she was kept entertained all the time with art, games and even trips out to forest school.
She loves to play with all the staff who are professional, caring and always there to give a cuddle if needed.

My daughter has always been shy and so I was nervous getting her settled into nursery. The staff were warm and welcoming and my daughter soon settled. We are moving and so my daughter will move nursery and I can say we will both miss little achievers in the park. Thank you to the manager and staff in

My 16 month old baby girl has attended Little Achievers nursery in the Park since January this year and all the staff have been very welcoming and helped her to settle in. My little boy used to attend before going to school and his experience was a great one. Staff are all lovely and take time to tell
you how your child has been during the day, what meals they ate and what activities they have been involved in. There's a lovely welcoming atmosphere there. They are very flexible with their sessions and hours, and have links to the children's centre within the premises. I would highly recommend this nursery.

Both my children attended and loved every minute they were there. Staff are helpful, informative and professional. There's always plenty to keep them entertained during the time they are there.
I always recommend this setting. I'll be sad when my youngest leaves this year

Staff are lovely and very caring, I feel my child has developed a lot and he loves every day in the nursery. They are very flexible and will help if we need to swap days for our child as we both work full time. The communication is very good, we are informed every day how our child spend the day.

I could not speak any higher of Park Nursery. The amount they have done for my boys is amazing! Helped bring speech along, helped an extremely fussy eater try new things (which I still myself struggle with) and even just being people to talk to. To me there is nothing this nursery has done/can do wrong
regarding my boys.

My 7 month old daughter loves coming to nursery. She gets excited as soon as we walk through the door and isn't bothered about me leaving. I enjoy reading her diary when we get home so I know what she has done all day. I was really worried about going back to work and taking her to nursery but I needn't

Without the nursery I wouldn't of been able to continue with my current job. The nursery take and pick up my little boy and he loves the car journey. Using this service also means my little boy still has contact with all the staff and children, meaning holiday club is a familiar environment.

Having been potty training my little one for a while, we have found nursery very supportive and helpful. Particularly the leader of bluebells and my son's key person. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they are always there to offer useful advice and guidance.

Job Title: Nursery Lead Joined: 2001

Andrea Norbury is the Nursery Lead at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park. Andrea completed her NNEB in 1987 and has worked in childcare ever since. Andrea started her career as a nanny, then supported children with additional needs, after that Andrea worked for Social Care before entering the private sector in 2001. Since then Andrea has completed an NVQ level 4 in management, a Foundation Degree and more recently an NVQ level 4 in Business Administration. Andrea has been at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park since it opened in 2006.


Andrea is passionate about safeguarding and is enthusiastic about developing the nursery and implementing change. Andrea is married with two adult sons whom she is very proud of.
