Little Achievers Nursery in the Park, in Skelmersdale, has excellent indoor and outdoor play environments for early years learning, benefiting from strong community links, including with outreach workers and health visitors, to offer parents the complete childcare package.

Additional features include a fabulous Reggio Emilia inspired approach to early years, multi-sensory room, separate playrooms for babies and toddlers, and soft play surfacing. The nursery has pre-school facilities and an outdoor play is even accessible regardless of the weather. The multi-sensory room is a fabulous resource and the children benefit from spending time in this area, it can aid sensory skills and can be used to relax and calm too.

The outdoor area is amazing, with a very different covered area for all year around use and an outdoor activity room. Outdoors is split into areas to promote different challenges for children from potion making, constructing, tinkering on the piano, wheeled toys to aid spatial awareness, and a natural garden area for investigating and bug hunting.

Staff are all dedicated to ensuring the children have a safe, secure and stimulating environment that meets the children’s own individual needs and promoting independence whilst allowing them to take risks with adult support.

The nursery holds the coveted Millies Mark for excellence in paediatric First Aid (the only nursery in Skelmersdale to hold the award) and the Lancashire step into Quality Award.

Learning journeys for all children are offered both to see the progress their child is making at nursery via photographs, written comments and communication, along with being a beautiful portfolio of memories for the future.

My 8-month-old started in October he has never mixed with other kids and wasn’t very fond of anyone other than me, to be honest, but they worked with him and he was a changed baby within a week he loves it here now and all the nursery staff are super they cannot do enough for the children, both my niece
and nephew also attended this nursery from being very young up until primary school age and they also loved going and they really had a good connection with the staff. Highly recommend to anybody who is wary of leaving your child in nursery no matter what age, they are great. My little boy has come on in leaps and bounds since being there he wouldn’t eat anything savoury he had a sweet tooth but with persistence, the nursery has helped me get him on to savoury foods. My son started here a month ago and overall it has been a good experience. As time goes by I am more and more reassured that he is enjoying his time and building happy relationships with all the staff. I have been particularly grateful for the support I have received while I am still breastfeeding my
son. The staff provide me with access to a private, quiet area every morning and even a cup of tea. I also appreciate the time taken to feedback to me about my sons day, every evening when I pick him up.

Barnes road nursery is an amazing place to learn. The staff have always gone above and beyond to support not only the children but the families as well. My son has had an amazing three years and has built friendships for life. I am glad I chose this nursery for my children and would highly recommend

My son has been with the nursery since a baby and seeing his progression over the years with the care and support of all the staff has been amazing. My 2 and a half-year-old has attended nursery since she was 6 months old. She loves nursery so much and gets upset when it isn't a nursery day. I have had to bring her on a Saturday to show her the gates are locked to calm her down. All the staff are very caring and I feel they are very approachable
and will deal with any concerns I have quickly and efficiently.

My granddaughter has attended this nursery on days when she needed to be looked after, after school, this involved her being picked up from school and having tea.
The service and attention we have received was excellent and will definitely be using the service again during school holidays. All the

My daughter started this fantastic nursery at the beginning of November at 8 months old. She was very strange with other people she didn't know but was fine settling in here. All the girls that work here are great and have made you feel so welcome and put my mind at rest. My daughter loves attending
nursery and as the weeks have gone on she has started recognising the building and gets excited as she knows where she is going.
I would highly recommend this fabulous nursery to friends and family all the girls do a Fantastic job. Thank You.

My son attends Little Achievers Nursery in the Park 3 mornings a week and he absolutely loves it. He's excited to go and loves the children and staff there.
The staff go out of their way to be caring and helpful towards me and my son and always have exciting and educational activities for the children
to do.
My son's speech and counting skills have come on leaps and bounds.
I can't recommend this nursery enough.
We viewed other nurseries in the area and Little Achievers Nursery in the Park really shone above the rest.

I find the nursery very beneficial to my daughter, her speech and attitude have come on amazingly with the help of the staff. She enjoys going to nursery and has settled in very well, I wouldn't want her to go any other nursery.

Job Title: Nursery Lead Joined: 2001

Andrea Norbury is the Nursery Lead at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park. Andrea completed her NNEB in 1987 and has worked in childcare ever since. Andrea started her career as a nanny, then supported children with additional needs, after that Andrea worked for Social Care before entering the private sector in 2001. Since then Andrea has completed an NVQ level 4 in management, a Foundation Degree and more recently an NVQ level 4 in Business Administration. Andrea has been at Little Achievers Nursery in the Park since it opened in 2006.


Andrea is passionate about safeguarding and is enthusiastic about developing the nursery and implementing change. Andrea is married with two adult sons whom she is very proud of.
