Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery is situated close to the heart of Preston city centre. The nursery can welcome up to 72 children. Each child has their own key carer who looks to ensure early years’ potential is achieved.

The nursery is split into 3 age ranges however the rooms can flow easily to aid transition for children when moving to new groups. Along with fully qualified childcare professionals, their nursery also has trained Forest School practitioners.

The aim of the friendly team of staff is to encourage children to confidently learn and develop, benefiting from a focus on key skills, such as numeracy, creativity literacy and curiosity.

Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery uses the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Years Childcare and Education, a philosophy that uses four key principles to focus on a child's natural development. The approach is both child-centred and directed, taking the philosophy that learning must make sense to the child in order to be effective and meaningful.

All nursery pre-school children are able to access their own forest school, where children experience accelerated learning in a unique environment developing new skills, communication, improved health and personal development through learning outdoors. This time spent in outdoor spaces and reflective practice develops a child's resilience and re-frames a child's own view of risk. Forest school is about a different way of learning, the ever-changing outdoors, the passage of time, the changes in seasons, nature, different sources of smells and textures. The ever-changing environment can stimulate learning in a very different environment.

The nursery holds the coveted NDNA E-Quality award for providing high-quality childcare and education (2016).

Learning journeys for all children are offered both to see the progress their child is making at nursery via photographs, written comments and communica

My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery. She gets excited every morning when we arrive in the car park. She loves all of the staff and has a great time. She is really settled there and it's such a comfort to know that she's happy and that she's getting a high level of care every day. My daughter
has been attending nursery full-time, term time, since January 2020 when she was just 6 months old. All of the staff have been so important to her development, even more so in the current circumstances where we can't see family often - the staff and her little friends have become her family. They've helped her with her walking and social development and encourage her love for crafts and music.

I highly recommend this nursery to those who wish their child to become successful. They really focus on the individuals.
My daughter is in school now. She attended this nursery and I was glad she did because she received all the necessary knowledge she needed for a good start in school.
Very friendly
atmosphere too, more like family.

My daughter started here in January 2020 and has really come out of her shell in all ways. She’s got a brilliant bond with all the staff and is constantly smiling when we come to the nursery and runs up the path! Her speech has come on heaps, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the staff for this as
it was something I was worried about. The staff there love every child like they are their own. I know she’s in safe hands, thank you.

My little one started at the nursery in August, they have been absolutely amazing. She is difficult to settle and she is only going once a week, that would be a massive challenge to any nursery. But at this nursery, she settled quite fast and loves going. All the girls have been fab with my little one,
she loves them so much especially one in particular. They have been really flexible as well which is crucial for working parents. Not to mention about my little one speaking two languages and when she started she only spoke fluent Hungarian, now she speaks properly in English too! Big thank you to all of you ladies, you are fantastic.

All the staff are very polite and welcoming. My daughter is only two and to see her so happy makes me happy.
Also, knowing that when I'm at work, knowing my child is safe and looked after is a big deal to me.
Excellent nursery 10/10.

All three of my children attend this nursery and absolutely love it. All the staff are lovely and friendly, especially the manager. They are positive, passionate and accommodating. I feel confident leaving my children at the nursery knowing they are in good hands. The staff are always happy to provide
an honest account of how the children's day has gone. The nursery's recent Reggio Emilia approach provides the children with a fantastic environment and space in which they explore and delve deeper into their interests. I would recommend this nursery to other parents.

Love the staff that look after my child. Improvements would be to send some reports every month. Last year I enjoyed the app. This year, the diary idea I don't like. Would prefer something electronic as I don't come into the nursery.

My son comes here for after school club in the holidays. He loves all the staff and children who are here. He enjoys the various activities that he can do, clay making and any art activity.
He loves going outside to help the staff feed the chickens and enjoys playing outside in the outdoor area. My
son especially likes to play in the messy play and sand and never wants to come home at home time.

I love Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery for many reasons@ their flexibility, the child-led approach, the setting, the Forest part, but mainly the staff. It took my son about a year to properly settle but they were caring, persevering, gentle and professional and he now can't wait to go.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and inspiring. I can't recommend them enough.

My son thoroughly enjoys going to Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery. He has been attending the nursery for nearly three months now and is so settled and content there. He has bonded really well with all the staff members, learning their names and even calling one staff member "nan".
The
nursery has fantastic facilities. My son loves playing in the water and heads straight for an apron to get stuck in every morning.
He also loves the sensory room and is reluctant to leave if he is in there at home time. He is learning new things every day. I am very happy with the overall standards that the staff and nursery provide.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.930 for Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.93
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Achievers Urban Forest School Nursery is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
