Over the Rainbow Day Nursery offers a friendly and stimulating environment where your child will be able to grow and learn. The friendly team of staff are dedicated to providing the best care for your child and can offer a wealth of experience and knowledge. The nursery setting has an open door policy for anyone wanting to pay a visit and the team would encourage anyone wanting to send their child to the nursery to come along at any time. They pride themselves in offering a wide range of extra optional activities which are held both on and off site, such as dancing lessons, swimming lessons (with a swim instructor) and gymnastics lessons. The team are devoted to ensuring your child has the best possible learning journey and experience during their time at Over the Rainbow Day Nursery.

My daughter first started at Over The Rainbow Nursery in August 2024, and in just the few short months that she has been there they have shown us nothing less than excellence. My daughter is my first child and I was very nervous to send her to nursery so young, and sending her in general. The staff
made both me and my partner as parents feel so much at ease and made the transition for my daughter's joining seamless. My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery, when we pull up outside in the morning she is overjoyed to go in, and this for me says it all. All of the staff at OTR make such an effort with all of the children, getting to know them, saying hello to them, etc, and not just the children in their own set rooms. I can go to work every day and never be concerned or worried regarding my daughter's wellbeing as she is so looked after at OTR, this puts both me and my partner at so much ease knowing we can still work whilst our daughter is safe and cared for. 1 billion % recommend OTR

I placed my son in OTR nursery when he was only 6 months old, he is now nearly 2 years old. Amazing place. My little one loves coming in every day. The whole staff are very caring, friendly and supportive. Can't ask for more than that. 5 stars from me.

My son has attended Over The Rainbow since he was 1, which was when we were still in lockdown. The staff have always been lovely, keep us well informed of his daily activities and progress and are always kind and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery.

Our eldest daughter has been attending for over 3 years and our little boy has been attending for almost 1 year now. In that time both our children have flourished. They have always loved their days with the teams in their designated rooms and both myself and my partner feel completely relaxed knowing
our children are in safe hands every day. The level of care, attention and genuine affection that the team show towards our children is unmatched and we've always felt that everybody goes above and beyond to create a happy, safe and fun space that allows our children to learn, grow and play. We wouldn't dream of sending our children to any other setting and will be really sad to see our eldest leave for school this September. Thank you to all the team for always making sure our little ones enjoy every day and come home smiling.

As a first-time mum, I was so on edge about choosing my son’s nursery. When I came to view Over The Rainbow I was given the warmest welcome into the nursery and the staff treated my son like he was a family member, this was before I’d even said I wanted a place! My son has allergies which can be daunting
for any parent, but never once have I worried or had an issue as the staff are so knowledgeable and trained within this sector. He has now been at Over The Rainbow for nearly 2 months and I couldn’t think of anywhere better for him to go. He is absolutely thriving and coming on so much and feels very comfortable in this setting. Another thing I love about the nursery is the updates you receive during the day on the app and the cute pictures of what your child has been up to that week! I would one million per cent recommend this nursery.

My granddaughter has attended Over the Rainbow Nursery for the past twelve months, during that time she has started to develop into a caring inquisitive little girl. The activities delivered by the nursery staff are fantastic and a credit to all your dedication and planning in helping her development.
As
a qualified professional of 50 years and owning a business, I can certainly say that I am very impressed with the way the nursey is run and the professionalism of the staff.
The opportunity to access the app as far as a grandparent is concerned is such a delight to be able to understand what happens on a daily basis and to be kept up to date gets 10/10 from me.
My granddaughter loves her time at the nursery which gives the family peace of mind this is all down to the environment the staff and the hard work you all put in.

My son has been attending Over The Rainbow nursery since May 2022 when he was 6 months old. He's always happy to arrive there and is still happy when I pick him up at the end of the day. He clearly trusts and is affectionate with the people he meets there. His development has been consistent and strong.
He interacts readily with his peers, the practitioners and others. He recently cleared the 1-year-old mark and as his development accelerates, we can see the skills he's building - pointing, vocalising, standing, climbing and more. The nursery keeps us posted on events and offers us tips on how we can work with them out of hours to accelerate his learning. He's our first child and so, like any parent, we were a little anxious about the decision to place our little one into the care of others. After over 6 months, our doubts are replaced with elation. We're really happy we made the decision and couldn't be more grateful for the work of our new friends at Over The Rainbow.

I can't recommend this nursery enough!
After my son's settling-in sessions, he was eager to go to the staff for his 1st week away from mum and dad.
The nursery is calm, clean and has a great vibe all around. The staff really are so friendly and understanding and update the app as much as they can
to keep you posted on your child's day. If I ever have any queries or just wonder how he is, they reply as soon as possible. It is very clear that the staff have undergone great training and also are just natural to the job role! And the kids have an in-house chef! 10/10 experience.

Over the Rainbow continues to provide our daughter with outstanding care. We couldn’t be happier and neither could she. She loves going in every day and her face lights up when she sees the practitioners. They all give such a wonderful level of care and attention to the children that all we see is happy

I couldn’t recommend the baby room more if I tried. My son has additional needs due to which he struggles with socialising and eating. The girls have worked so closely with my son's professionals and myself, helping with advice when I need it, I am so happy my son attends this nursery setting.

My little boy has been attending nursery since he was nearly 8 months old. He absolutely loves going to nursery and loves when his nursery day comes around. He only attends once a week at the minute but always asks us if he can go in on his days off.
He has a close relationship with all practitioners
and loves to talk about his day and what he’s done.
He’s just started to go swimming with nursery and loves to come home and tell us the new skills he’s learnt there. “Scoop the ice cream” and “Be a star fish” are his favourites at the minute.
Nursery gave him so much confidence as he was a little shy and was in his own little shell when he first started and now he’s so outgoing and never stops.

Such a lovely nursery. Caring staff and a real understanding and focus on children's well-being. I cannot fault the nursery and would 100% recommend. They made my son feel welcome and loved so that he could grow in confidence and reach his full potential. The staff made the transition from toddler room
to preschool room effortless. My son never once asked to stay at home. Over the Rainbow Day Nursery offers a range of activities for children, including weekly swimming and gymnastic lessons - this is something I've not seen other nurseries offer.

My children have been attending the nursery over the past 5 years. The staff have gone above and beyond to help me when family illness meant I needed extra days at nursery. They have provided extra support when my children have needed it and communicated with me every step of the way. My children have
loved attending the nursery and have developed lovely bonds with all the nursing staff who treat them excellently. It really is a home-from-home. The activities the nursery put on amaze me, as each one is well thought out and planned as if an event organiser has put it on.

My daughter loves going to nursery, grabs her shoes and bag and runs to the door when we tell her she's going to nursery.
All the staff are amazing, they are so good with the kids! And a big shout out to my daughter's key worker (as my daughter talks about her at home), she's learned so much and always
comes home with new skills.
I love that they take them out to visit the nursing home.
Definitely recommend!

My nearly 3-year-old daughter has been going to this nursery for over 2 years and absolutely loves going. We've never had any issues with her being left. All the staff are lovely and push the children to be the best they could possibly be, couldn't ask for a better team. The app keeps us updated on
what the children have been doing throughout the day and what they have eaten at meal times. I really look forward to the Friday update as pictures are posted of activities the children have taken part in from each individual room.

Both of my daughters have attended this nursery and I wouldn't choose anywhere else.
The staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you and the children.

Our son has been attending since he was 13 months. He loves going and loves all the staff. They are very caring and kind with him and I am reassured that he is well looked after while he is there. The app they use is really helpful in getting updates on his food/naps/nappy changes throughout the day
and if we even need to communicate with them the messaging service is quick and easy to use and we always get a prompt response. He loves playing outside and enjoys it when they go on trips outside the nursery. He loves the meals they provide and seems to eat more at nursery than at home!

My oldest daughter went to Over The Rainbow and the nursery was exceptional! They engaged so much with her, so many activities and so much creativity fostered! The staff are amazing, and so happy to chat to parents about everything that is going on. The children are confident, clever, and creative,
couldn't ask for more!
My youngest daughter has just started in Baby Room, and their induction into nursery life is superb and fully involves parents.
An outstanding gem of a nursery, could not recommend them enough!

For the last 20 years, I have been the owner and Manager of a childcare setting in Nottingham. As part of this role, I have gained significant experience regarding the standards of care and education which are required within a nursery setting. As part of my own professional development, I have undertaken an Early Years Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies and am now a level 5 qualified person. My passion for childcare is one of the fundamental reasons that we decided to proceed with the new venture of becoming one of the new owners of Over the Rainbow Day Nursery in Ashton-in-Makerfield, which I am the nominated person for.

Lyndsay Aldridge

Job Title: Company Director Joined: 2015

After becoming a mother I decided to embark on a new career in Early Years by becoming one of the new Owners and Directors at Over the Rainbow Day Nursery. This was very much the start of my journey and since then I have qualified as an Early Years Teacher so I am now a level 6 qualified person. Qualifying as an Early Years Teacher has proved invaluable to my understanding of early years care and education and to form my own pedagogical views.

Wendy has worked in early years across the Wigan borough for over 24 years from a trainee through to management. Along the way, Wendy has gained a vast experience of the operations and the importance of good quality childcare.


Wendy has a level 6 BA Honors in Leadership and Management within her early years, her NNEB level 3 and qualifications in paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding.


Safeguarding is paramount and Wendy has been recognised by Wigan Council as an advocate for other settings to support and manage Safeguarding concerns with other early years settings. Wendy initially opened Over the Rainbow Nursery in 2004 ( Previously known as Imagine Day Nursery) and developed the ethos of the setting and its team.


Wendy is a full-time manager and designated safeguarding lead and values her interactions daily with children of all ages.


Wendy is a mother of two girls which has given Wendy the empathy that parents experience when leaving children in the care of others and the small things that are important to a parent.

Vicky has worked at OTR formally Imagine Day Nursery.


She started her career as a college trainee at Imagine Day Nursery and continued full-time since qualifying.


During her time at OTR, Vicky has progressed from practitioner to deputy manager and has undergone numerous training around safeguarding, paediatric first aid, food hygiene and most recently SENCO award.


Vicky's passion is to work and support the team, parents and children with SEND. Vicky has vast experience in supporting and obtaining support through the council and other professionals for children and their families to enable them to access their early education.


Vicky has a wide range of experience from 0 - 5 years and has developed good relations with outside professionals and local schools in ensuring children transition into school at the age of 4.


Vicky has ELKLAN, ECAT and more recently WellComm training to support children's communication and language development.

Danielle

Danielle Winstanley

Job Title: Early Years Lead 3-5 Joined: 2009

Danielle has gained her level 2 and 3 qualifications in her early years along with her paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding. Danielle has been part of the team at the nursery for 14 years and has worked from a trainee up to a senior supervisor. She currently is our early years lead overseeing the education and routines of our preschool children.


Danielle brings many experiences to the team and community and enjoys interacting with our local care home with the children giving them aspects of British values and cultural capital this ensures children have gained vast life experiences. Within the nursery environment, she encourages and involves parents in their child's nursery journey and ensures quality learning and education in the preschool environment.


Danielle has most recently become the deputy SENCO of the setting and also has a vast array of training such as keys to communication, ELKLAN and WellComm.

Amy

Amy Jones

Job Title: Senior Practitioner Joined: 2009

Amy is level 3 qualified in her early years along with her paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding. She has been part of the team at the nursery for 14 years and has worked from a trainee up to a senior supervisor and is currently our baby-room leader.


Amy has recently completed working with babies and safer sleeping training.

Karen Russell

Karen is level 3 qualified and in addition to this is has her paediatric first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding.


Karen has also completed working with babies training, safer sleeping and most recently WellComm to support the children in their communication and language.

Chloe

Chloe Clare

Chloe holds a level 3 qualification in childcare and development and has also completed her level 2,3 and 4 SEND Diploma.


She has two children of her own alongside many years of experience working in nurseries and schools.


Chloe in addition to this has paediatric first aid and safeguarding training.

Abigail

Abigail Anderton

Abbie is our newest team member, has over 3 years experience working in a private day nursery in both the Wigan and Bolton Borough, Abbie has worked across the different age ranges, and will be based in our pre school room at OTR. Abbie has enjoyed a short break from her childcare in 2024, taking a few month off from to travel around southeast Asia. Abbie has brought some fantastic new ideas and is very creative loves messy play and creating art.

Molly

Molly Clarke

Molly joined our setting in October 2024 working part time, 3 days a week. Molly is Level 3 qualified and has many years experience working in Early Years settings. Molly has completed specialist training for babies, safer sleeping and First aid and safeguarding. Molly loves to be creative and brings many fun activities to share with the children.

Natalie

Natalie Littler

Natalie has been a valuable team member at OTR for over 19 years, Natalie has completed her Level 4 childcare qualifications, First aid, safeguarding, positive behaviour, and exemplary practice for 2-3 year olds. Natalie has also completed food hygiene training and has trained in Special Educational Needs.

Chantelle

Chantelle Adamson

Job Title: Trainee apprentice Level 2 Joined: 2024

Chantelle joined our team after completing some voluntary work at the setting back in 2023. Chantelle is currently working towards her level 2 NVQ at the setting. Chantelle receives 1-1 training from Wigan & Leigh college once a month and completes supported on the job learning from our experienced nursery practitioners.
Chantelle currently works in our baby room supporting staff and gaining new experiences on the job.
Chantelle has completed her first aid & safeguarding training. Along with exemplary practice working with babies training, Children's development in the eyfs.

Keisha

Keisha Heyes

Job Title: Nursery Practitioner Joined: 2025

Keisha joined our setting earlier this year having been on MAT leave from her previous job. Keisha and her son aged 1 year 8 months joined our team and has settled in well at the setting. Keisha has gained her level 3 in Early years and worked in the sector for over eight years. Keisha has level 3 in Early years, has completed first aid and safeguarding training.

Jodie

Jodie Forkin

Job Title: Nursery Practitioner Joined: 2025

Jodie qualified in 2013 and completed her placement with us at OTR. Jodie then went on to work full time as a 1-1 support for a child with SEND in a local primary school. Jodie later went on to work around the world in various locations as a private nanny.
Having returned home Jodie has just finished her MAT leave and has returned to OTR to join our growing team. Jodie is mum to a beautiful baby girl of 9 months, who will also be joining us at OTR this September.

Joshua Sale

Job Title: Nursery Chef Joined: 2023

Joshua is new to our Over the Rainbow team but has lots of experience in catering holds a level 2 in food hygiene and has also completed allergen training.
