For over 25 years Heron Day Nursery has been working in partnership with staff, parents and outside agencies to deliver the best possible start in life.

Staff work to ensure each child has the highest quality of learning in a safe and welcoming environment.

The nursery, which takes children from six weeks to five-years-old, has a spacious outdoor play environment for children to explore and learn in. Inside, each room is open plan with a variety of stimulating activities to encourage children to thrive.

The nursery provides an out of school club for children aged four to 12 years that attend Mabs Cross Primary School and St Marys and St Johns Primary school in Wigan. They provide holiday club for all children to attend aged four to 12 years with a variety of stimulating activities.

The nursery has a current Ofsted rating of 'Good' (May 2022) and a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 - Very Good (January 2023).

It offers two, three and four-year-old funding, and 30 hours' funding for three and four-year-olds. The nursery offers flexibility to use funded hours to support parents and offer a 51 week spread.

My little boy first started at another nursery until it closed, the staff made the transfer to this nursery very easy and pleasant for him, since being at the Heron Day Nursery all the staff have contributed to the development of my child and he loves coming here. When he moves on in September he will
continue breakfast club here, so will still see the staff he has grown so fond of, overall Heron Day Nursery have been amazing and I couldn't have wished for a better place for my child to have been. Thank you to you all I'm more grateful than you'll ever know.

So grateful to everyone at Heron. Such lovely and helpful staff. They have been nothing but supportive. From the manager to the chef. My son's had an amazing start in life, he's always happy there and so are we. Sad that this chapter is gonna be ending soon.

Amazing nursery with the most caring staff. My children have attended the nursery for over two years and we have always had a positive experience. My children have thrived whilst being at Heron, they have always had good relationships with their key workers and have been encouraged to build meaningful
friendships with their peers. The staff here communicate very well and over time have built a good relationship with us as parents. 100% recommend!

We chose this nursery as my niece attended here and heard really good reviews. We were looking for a space urgently due to new work commitments and Heron Day had the availability which was so helpful. They worked with both me and Dad when it came to weaning my son - it was done at our pace and how we
wanted, the communication is brilliant from staff to parents (text messages and the app). Daily updates on meals, toileting and other information. My son is happy here at Heron Day, the staff are excellent!

What a lovely nursery our two little ones went at two years old and stayed all the way through to leaving for school, and they now go to after school club. The main thing that drew us to this nursery is the staff, and how welcoming they are when each individual child comes into the nursery and leaves.
With five years of experience myself in childcare. They are so attentive to each child's needs and wants which makes it feel so much better when leaving our children. The information they gave for both our children was very informative, but also you could tell it was personally done to each of our child's wants and needs. A fantastic nursery with lovely food the children talk about. To the staff and the management who are so welcoming and friendly, 10/10.

I love heron day nursery all 3 of my children have attended and my youngest is currently there!
They go above and beyond for all the children and meet there individul needs.
All the staff are experienced and so friendly I would highly recommend

We use holiday club here and my daughter absolutely loves it. There’s so much for them to do, and even after a full day I struggle to get her to leave. She also recently went on a farm trip, which was her first day without mum/dad and she’s had a really positive experience. I have complete trust in
the staff who clearly love their job!

Well, what can I say about Heron Day Nursery? I looked around for my daughter as a mum with anxiety I was at ease nearly straight away once I meet the manager and all the staff. Lots of smiling children's faces looking up at me and when it came to my son I knew straight away I was going to send him
there. Now 3 years on my daughter goes to after school club which she loves and my son is ready to start school, who also will go to the after school club. Could not ask for a more friendly and caring nursery. Nothing is too much to ask. Keep going everyone you are all amazing. Thank you for helping my children grow.

My little boy has been attending Heron Day Nursery for nearly a year and loves it!
It's an outstanding nursery that attends to every need of the individual child. My child has come along way since starting, the baby room love and care for him, have helped him and followed his routine. I am completely
at rest when my child is at nursery knowing he is safe and very well looked after and I couldn't thank the staff here enough.

My son has attended this nursery from being a baby and is due to leave to go to school soon and will miss all his new friends and staff as he has a good relationship with them all. All the staff are friendly and make us feel welcome. The nursery is a safe and clean environment and I would recommend

My granddaughter has been here since she was a young baby, she is now in her preschool year and she absolutely loves it, she is sociable and confident. Very good nursery, my little girl has been there since she was six months old and she is three now. She absolutely loves going and loves all her teachers, they have helped my girl learn a lot. It will be a sad day when she leaves to go to school.

My son really enjoys going to Heron Day Nursery, he has been attending since he was 6months old. He has built a bond with all the staff who are always friendly and welcoming. The staff keep me updated with my child's progress. They always add observations, photos and daily notes to tell me how my child
is throughout the day. He always comes home and tells me all about the nursery and he is always happy to attend.

Both my children have attended this nursery, and my youngest is still there. The staff are great, and my daughters thoroughly enjoy their time there. My eldest now attends the holiday club in the school holidays and counts down to going.
I am really happy about leaving my children here, and the staff
provide fantastic fun activities that really help them learn.

I was extremely nervous about sending my 9-month-old to the nursery over 18 months ago. But as soon as she started in the baby room for her taster days I soon relaxed. She is now in the toddler room and loves it so much. The staff are brilliant and they put a lot of energy and effort into making each
day fun for them. They hold lots of different activities and charity events and we often hear back on how she is doing and responding to the other children. The nursery is very accommodating and has changed our daughters days when we have struggled with childcare.

Was recommended by a friend to the nursery and being a new mum had no idea how to go about these things. Emailed a number of nurseries, the manager got back to me quickly and arranged for a meetup. All the staff are friendly and helpful, since my little boy started in January he has loved it and I am
absolutely over the moon with the nursery and staff, can not recommend enough, love it.
