As a first time parent I was anxious about leaving him in an environment he wasn't familiar with but he loves it. Nursery had helped me to allow him to grow and develop without him needing me.
They have also been able to manage his dairy allergy with alternative food in place so he isn't left out.

After feeling very anxious about leaving our son after Covid and the Pandemic, the nursery staff made us feel so welcome and at ease. Our son loved spending time interacting with other children in a safe, friendly environment. He seems to really enjoy the food and outdoor spaces they have available.
My wife still calls every day to check in and he's always great, the staff are always really helpful in answering our questions at the end of the day. We are so glad we chose this nursery.

We've had a mixed experience so far. My child has been really sick since joining the nursery and whilst we'd expect plenty of colds and mild bugs, he's missed many many days now, to the extent that I think it has impacted his experience there. The key workers that are assigned to him are really lovely
and try their best to make his time at nursery enjoyable it seems. The updates on the parent app aren't so frequent, although we are given verbal updates when we collect him at the end of the day. I think in these times when parents can't go into the nursery, more reassurance of your child's activities, environment and development are required and I don't feel we get this from Little Acorns. I don't feel my child has advanced in any way in his six months at nursery so far. I genuinely struggled to rate the nursery as I am not aware of the quality of facilities, spaces, resources or learning.
Reply from Caron Moseley, Marketing at Little Acorns NurseryDue to COVID we have faced many challenges due to parents not being able to enter the nursery building. So that we do not lose parent involvement and engagement, all our resources have been adapted throughout COVID to still be available for parents, which have included regular phone contact and messages via the parent app to maintain the relationship between home and nursery. In addition, we have also introduced snapshots which are added daily so that parents can still see what is happening within the nursery. We have also implemented a ‘what’s going on this week’ board, displayed outside the nursery - each day the board is updated so parents can see and be involved in the child planning of weekly activities.

An excellent nursery. The staff are friendly, really interactive with children and the days are jam packed with activities. My son loves going the three days he attends. Occasionally I get good developmental reviews. The app used for communication is great, for picture updates and messages. The eighteen
month to three years old class is big, with lots of children over twenty months in. I find this too big and do worry that my son doesn't get the right amount of attention as he did in the smaller classes.

My son has been going to Little Acorns since he was 9 months old and has built such strong relationships with several carers. He is always excited to go into nursery which as a parent is so comforting to know. The nursery staff have supported his development in so many ways and he is now a happy, confident
and chatty toddler despite the pandemic they have continued to care and support my son's development. With the help of the parent app we are able to stay in contact with his carers and are constantly updating this with his progress at home and at nursery. I have already recommended this nursery to my friends and family.

Little Acorns Nursery have been so helpful at every step of my daughter's journey and have also supported my requirements as and when I have needed support or guidance on any childcare issues. The management team there are brilliant and have always been supportive and as a parent of a child who attends
the nursery, I feel happy that my child is in good hands at all times even in the current pandemic we are all facing. The nursery staff are also good and are always happy to help.

Both of my children go to Little Acorns. My son started at the age of 11 weeks and my daughter at 7 months. The staff are highly qualified and always provide a variety of activities for my children. I get regular updates on Tapestry which is great to me see what my children are up to at nursery. It's
a great way to share it with grandparents as they are not local!
I would highly recommend the nursery! They just had the extension completed and the new classroom looks amazing! My daughter is due to go to school this year and the staff are ensuring that the children are not only educationally ready but also emotionally.
Thank you to all staff at Little Acorns.

My daughter has been attending the nursery for nearly a year and started in the baby room. She has come on leaps and bounds in her development and nursery has helped. They have been very understanding and accommodating in regards to my daughter's allergies which alleviates my worries massively. Her
meals are always varied but I feel her snacks are very samey and could be changed up a bit. Like an anxious mother, I sometimes feel by calling up to check how my daughter is I feel like I am bothering the staff. Communication could be better in regards to daily activities, tapestry updates are not regular and diary entries in the blue books are not always accurate. My daughter seems to have a good session when she attends but I feel the activities they do could be varied to include more educational activities. But overall a good nursery that I would recommend to others.

This nursery is a fantastic place for children to grow and learn. Staff respect children and support them through their development. Children's differences and interests are carefully considered when planning and delivering activities. Feedback to parents is thorough and personal. My children have been
so happy here and I couldn't ask for more.

The staff are so caring and extremely helpful with my son. They make special bonds and relationships with the children which is key when creating a safe environment.
Being a single mum has proved to be a challenge, however, the nursery has made mornings and picks really easy and they're always available
for you to talk to about any issues

Both my boys have enjoyed their time and care from the nursery. The staff and setting is brilliant

The nursery’s education style, learning lessons are impressive. The method used to get your child used to attending nursery is very helpful and the key worker allocation has been a positive experience. A little better communication would be appreciated, timeliness and the accuracy of information that
is passed to a parent can be improved. However, our daughter has developed in many areas since attending Little Acorns and we are pleased the way preschool operates and learning styles and standards and look forward to that stage.
Reply from Rosie Cartwright, Marketing Assistant at Little Acorns NurseryThank you for recognising how essential well-qualified, enthusiastic staff are required to delivering outstanding childcare to progress your little one’s continuous learning. There have been quite a lot of staff changes over recent months, and as a parent I feel this is not always effectively communicated.
There is also at times ineffective communication between staff with messages and information not being shared.
There are staff who show a lot of passion and care and
my daughter has made some lovely friends with other children.
The grounds and building require some maintenance work and TLC.
The manager is efficient in responding to concerns and queries.
Reply from Rosie Cartwright, Marketing Assistant at Little Acorns NurseryWe fully recognise how essential well-qualified, enthusiastic staff are required to delivering outstanding childcare to progress your little one’s continuous learning, also that the staff team are consistent. We do have in place, an employee retention/recognition scheme called Kiddi Kudos which parents can also take part in. Please pop into the office for more information as it would be great for staff morale to know they are doing a fantastic job from the families and not just us.

We will pass your communication concerns on to our team at Little Acorns to see where and how we can improve.

We’ve been really lucky to get a place at Little Acorns. It’s a very well-run nursery and our little man loves it there. They look after him and make his day fun. It’s also reasonably flexible if you want to skip a day or arrive late - they can keep breakfast or feed early as needed if you want to pick
up early.

I do wish they were open beyond 6 pm but other than that, can’t ask for more.

I have had all 3 of my children attend this nursery, and my youngest is currently there. The staff are fantastic and still remember my eldest who left there 7 yrs ago. They have activities in place every day for the kids, they understand the individual needs of each child. My little one loves it here
and is always excited about going in the morning. Staff are always welcoming with a smile and engage with my little one. My little one is always excited to tell me everything she has done in the day. This is one of the best nurseries which has a very home like feeling. I would definitely recommend it.

A fantastic nursery. My son has attended since he was 9 months old and is now coming to the end of his pre-school year. He has always been very happy and really well cared for. Staff are all friendly, approachable and genuinely care about my son's individual needs. They work with parents to ensure continuity
of routine and help parents with the major stages of development for example toilet training. Lots of fun activities are arranged including singing and signing classes. The management are very organised and helpful. We will be sad to say goodbye when my son leaves to start school.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.372)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.372) out of 10 for Little Acorns Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.833 for Little Acorns Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (114 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.833
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.539 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Acorns Nursery is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.764
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
