My older child has attended Westwards Nursery School since he was a baby and is about to leave to go to school. His younger sister is now in the baby room. I chose Westwards within a few minutes of walking into the building. The gentle care that the staff clearly showed towards the children was immediately
evident and the environment was calm and nurturing. From sensory play, music, local trips, activities focused on the children's interests, forest school and outdoor provision, and recently school transition, Westwards has given my children the best start. They both love attending and my older child speaks enthusiastically about the things he has been doing at nursery. All the staff know and genuinely care for the children and have come to feel like an extension of our family.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolWe are incredibly grateful to receive such wonderful feedback, thank you for taking the time to recommend Westwards!
It is great that we have such a fantastic staff team who are kind and caring to every child. It is really important to management that the staff feel happy, valued and supported at work.
The provision is carefully thought through and set up by the staff daily in each room, who strive to provide an engaging environment with child-led activities. The trips out, of course, are such fun and we work hard to incorporate events and celebrations. Being so central and having our mini bus is fantastic for our Forest School trips to the woodlands.
Being described as an extension of your family is a true honour - thank you!
We will of course share your lovely comments with our staff team.

Westwards Nursery School is a fabulous nursery, we looked around a few and they ticked all of the boxes. The staff are friendly, always approachable and give informative handovers at the end of the day. The children gets lots of outdoor time and experiences at forest school when older. My child comes
home and zonks everyday after collection for an hour. The food there is of really good standards always something different on offer, seconds and sometimes thirds go down well.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolIt's a pleasure to hear such amazing feedback, thank you!
We are a small home away from home so can give a real child-led service with lots of information communicated to parents in various ways.
It's lovely to hear that you value our Forest School outdoor ethos as this is a very important part of Westwards.
I will let the chef know about the food standards as she strives to offer the very best and often uses her allotment, organic fruit and veg and has been instrumental in our veg patch development!
Thank you for taking time out to send the comments.

Couldn’t recommend Westwards Nursery enough. Every member of staff is so kind, gentle and understanding towards every child’s needs. There’s such a lovely feel as soon as you enter Westwards and you know they’re in safe hands. They are so generous in all they do for the children and go above and beyond
to arrange special trips out of the nursery, summer parties, forest school and trips to the park, to name a few. The food they provide for the children is also fantastic. Healthy, nourishing food and such care and attention invested in creating delicious, varied menus every week. Having visited and tried other nurseries, none compare to Westwards.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you for your feedback, the staff will be so pleased to read them.
The chef will be really happy to know her hard work in cooking healthy, nutritious food is appreciated. We take great pride in our menus and ensuring they are well balanced and yummy for our little ones!
We love being able to provide such variety for the children and feel it really does benefit their learning and development, having real-life experiences.
It is our pleasure to provide day trips and forest school for the older children and we are so grateful to have these opportunities with our location.
Thank you once again for your feedback it is so valued!

We are delighted with the service Westwards nursery provides for our children. The staff are fantastic, the children are always busy doing lots of different activities and our children are always very happy when we pick them up. The food they provide is fantastic and they put a lot of effort into changing
their menu weekly. We love the fun, friendly and caring atmosphere Westwards provides.

Absolutely outstanding care provided. My daughter is so settled and at home at Westwards! The staff go above and beyond. The nursery communicate extremely well with family. A wide range of activities is available for children and lots of engaging trips into the local community.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThis is lovely to hear, we are really pleased to receive your feedback.
Being a long established nursery, with long serving staff means all the staff know all the children and their families. Our families trust and choose the setting as we are a home away from home. We are lucky with our central location, as it means that we are always out in the community and wider a field in our minibus.
The staff will be very happy to read your comments thank you.

My son has been at Westwards Nursery School for almost 2 years. He has been happy every day going to nursery and we know that he is well taken care of each and every day. The food is great and very well balanced, the staff are kind and so affectionate. I couldn't rate it highly enough.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you so much for your feedback, one of our main goals is happy children! We are fortunate in having a fantastic chef on-site, who cooks delicious, well-balanced and nutritious meals for the children. Thanks again!

I have had 3 children in this nursery and still currently have 2 at this nursery. Having previously been at a much larger nursery with arguably more facilities, I would choose Westwards Nursery School over that one without a doubt. The care has been excellent and the staff turnover minimal - it is obvious
to me that the staff are very happy there. Happy staff equals happy children. The staff are very warm and friendly and seem to genuinely care. My children have always come home very happy and fulfilled and I have never had any doubt that they are being looked after so well. I couldn’t recommend Westwards Nursery School more. I’ll be so sad when the youngest leaves.

As you know we take huge pride in our ethos; happy staff, happy children, happy parents!
Being a small independent nursery, a home away from home, the staff know all the families and parent partnership is very important to us.
Our manager has been here 24 years and others 17 years so it's great!
Really pleased all 3 of your children have enjoyed nursery so much and we will be equally sad to see you leave!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.891) out of 10 for Westwards Nursery School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.891 for Westwards Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.891
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westwards Nursery School is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 number of registered child places is 8.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
