Well, what can I say about Westwards Nursery? My granddaughter absolutely loves it, as well as do staff, extremely lovely and always keeps us updated. Many thanks to all the staff, my granddaughter has come on so well since she has been there.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you for your kind words and positive review. We are focused on children's well-being and development and staff work hard to provide lots of information to families through newsletters, social media and online learning journals. Westwards Nursery is a gem that we feel fortunate to have locally for our son. The staff's dedication, care, patience and enthusiasm shine through in every aspect of the nursery. It's warm, welcoming, and feels like a second home for our son. Dropping him off and picking him up is always a positive
experience, thanks to the friendly and nurturing environment created by the staff.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you for such a lovely, positive review of our home from home nursery. Westwards Nursery is simply the best! It's home from home, but much more fun!
All members of staff take the time to get to know your child and they care for them as if they are their own.
Nothing is too much, they do everything they can to make sure each child is happy in their surroundings and
feels included in activities, including letting the child take the lead.
Transitions between rooms are done sensitively and at the right time for the individual, not rushed by age.
The menu is incredible! My 2-year-old eats better than I do!
The trips out, they are given the opportunity to go out and about. The museum, the park, the library, the fair (when it's in town), the market, on a bus, to the shops, tennis courts and then there is Forest School.
They are one big family, the children included.
Both of my children (7 years old and 2 years old) have attended Westwards, they are both thriving in their own little ways thanks to the wonderful start they've been given at Westwards.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you for taking the time to review Westwards!
We strive to provide a warm, cosy home from home where children feel safe, secure and nurtured. It is really important to us to ensure that transitions are smooth and children are not rushed in the process when settling into new environments. Our aim is that children are happy and enjoy the child-focused activities on offer.
We love being out with the children on trips and visits as this offers children lots of different real experiences staff are often stopped whilst out and about by members of the public, who praise the children's behavior which is lovely!
The staff team will be so pleased your feedback thanks again!

I couldn't be happier with the care my daughter receives at Westwards Nursery. My concern is always my daughter's happiness in any setting and I know each day she attends that she is happy and content and extremely well cared for. She walks into her room happily with no tears or tantrums and always
has a smile on her face when I pick her up. Everyone is so kind and caring. My daughter has had some medical issues and they've been incredibly supportive throughout. Nothing is too much trouble. The turnover of staff is incredibly low and that's testament to a caring and supportive environment that's created by the management team. The staff are extremely highly qualified, very patient, kind and supportive and I consider myself very lucky to have found such a wonderful place for my daughter to start her learning journey.

It is so lovely to know your daughter is happy at nursery, as this is one of our primary goals for all the families we support. We feel so privileged to be able to shape little minds from such a critical young age.
With our long-serving staff team, we have created a positive, homely environment where children feel safe, secure and cared for.
Our amazing staff team deserve so much praise as they all work so hard and genuinely care about the children.
Thank you for your kind words it will mean so much to the team.

After visiting a few nurseries, we chose this one for its homely and welcoming feel, training levels and professional reviews. Our child has now been attending, full-time for 15 months and I remain happy and confident with our choice. The staff are caring and attentive and my child loves attending.
I simply could not match the number or variety of activities at home and I am so happy with my child's development as a result of what is on offer. The food menu changes regularly, with a fantastic variety of balanced meals, with all dietary requirements catered for. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you so much for your wonderful review!
One of our priorities as a nursery is ensuring we have happy children, staff and parents.
Our highly qualified staff team ensure every child has the opportunity to participate in a variety of exciting, fun, child-focused activities throughout the day.
We thoroughly enjoy putting together delicious, nutritious menus for our little people and our chef takes excellent care in providing alternatives for dietary requirements.
Your support is very much appreciated - thanks again!

The ladies at the nursery have been nothing but welcoming to our son joining the preschool room in 2023. He had loved going on weekly adventures to the garden, park and outwards. His confidence has grown massively too.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolWe are so pleased that your son enjoys our outdoor learning ethos through our Forest School sessions and exploration of our local area!
The staff in preschool work very hard to offer a variety of experiences to the children, helping to build their confidence, independence and resilience, ensuring there are lots of happy memories created.

Our son is a current member of Westwards Nursery and has been since June 2023. We have had nothing but a fantastic experience from day one! Our son absolutely loves going and settled in so quickly! He adores the staff that are in his room and is excited to see them first thing in the morning, as well
as always still having a good time with them right at the end of the day when we pick him up. The leader of his room is so knowledgeable and we have asked her advice on a number of things to which she has been so kind and helpful to us as new parents. I've not once worried about leaving him at Westwards and have confidently got on with my day after dropping him off, always. They have a perfect balance of professionalism mixed with a 'relaxed homely' atmosphere. The staff in the other rooms seem to also know our son by name which instils trust and excitement for the preparation for whenever he moves up to an older room to be with other team members. The manager is also great!
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you for your amazing review!
We know that leaving your most precious baby with someone you don't know is a little daunting and the staff work really hard to ensure they know each individual child and attend to their needs. The baby room staff team are all experienced and excellent caregivers, with a very knowledgeable team leader. We want our babies to feel safe, secure and happy so that they can explore and enjoy the exciting activities throughout the day.
Being a small home-from-home setting all our staff get to know the children across the nursery, which is lovely as it makes transitions so much easier.
Our manager has been with us 26 years and this shows the level of her commitment to the nursery and we are super proud of our whole team! Thank you again.

An excellent nursery that both my children have attended in the last 6 years, from when each of them turned one.
The staff and management have always been incredible in helping the children learn, gain confidence, become inquisitive, stay healthy (through the amazing food and activities), and most
importantly be happy.
The staff are well trained and informed about food allergies and extra measures are taken to accommodate children with dietary needs, particularly with severe allergies.
The Forest School has been running for multiple years now, by incredible staff and it has always been an amazing experience for the children.
There has never been a day that either of my children would not want to go to nursery. Westwards Nursery is not just a place for them to wait for us whilst we go to work but a place for them to thrive.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThat is really lovely to read thank you so much!
We ensure that allergies and all health care plans are managed to a high level across the nursery. Our excellent chef has the ability to produce nutritious, well-balanced, yummy meals for a variety of dietary needs daily.
We strongly believe that children thrive from real-life experiences, being outdoors and having engaging activities that stimulate wonder and awe in them.
As you put it most importantly children are happy at Westwards! Thanks again for taking the time to review Westwards.

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this nursery is. It is a nursery that supports the whole family not just the children.
I was terrified about sending my little girl to nursery. She started just before her birthday in the Sunshine room. I had nothing to worry about, the staff are
incredible! They have such genuine care for the children. After a year in that room, my daughter was ready to move up to the Rainbow Room, both my daughter and I had built up a great relationship with the staff and I was sad to move to the next room. I had no need to worry, the Rainbow room staff were just as amazing. They too are so kind with never-ending patience and energy.
Every member of the nursery staff knows each child and each child's individual needs. It is a kind, happy and safe place where I know my daughter will be looked after. They support and nurture each child in their unique development.
I drop my daughter off in the morning knowing she will have a good day.

Our established transition policy ensures children are well settled before any room moves and the staff ensure all information is updated and passed on to the relevant key workers.
We will of course share your lovely comments with our staff team who work incredibly hard and are very patient and kind as you mentioned.
They are dedicated to ensuring children are happy, safe and learning in a fun environment.

I would highly recommend Westwards Nursery School. What stands out are a few things;
1. The fantastic staff! Staff turnover is low, morale is high and they go above and beyond to provide a welcoming and nurturing environment for the children. I also very much appreciate the wide experience of the staff;
some have been there for over 10 years and some are newly trained. The diversity is fantastic and builds a real element of trust for both parents and children.
2. The innovative, creative and lovely activities the children do each and everyday. The staff pick up on the interests of the children and tailor the activities around this. During Wimbledon they took the children to play tennis and eat strawberries, they go to museums, visit parks and create spa days when it's hot. The variety and creativity is brilliant!
3. The amazing food! You cannot beat it! It’s so nice knowing your children are always well nourished.
I couldn’t be happier with the excellent care Westwards provide!

My friend recommended Westwards to me and I was glad that I made a completely right choice. My son loves all the staff, especially his key person, who is super nice and patient with his demands. The nursery arranges a lot of outdoor activities as long as the weather is not bad. The children have chances
to go shopping in the market, play in different playgrounds, to visit museums and even farms. I could not recommend Westwards Nursery School more.
Reply from Seijal Odedra, Director at Westwards Nursery SchoolThank you so much for your valuable feedback, most of our families choose Westwards due to the long-established nursery reputation (1951) and our long-serving staff.
This is lovely to hear and the key worker will be delighted!
The large canopy covering our fantastic new garden means we are outside every day and the children love the chance to play in the mud kitchen or the play tower, sliding down fast.
The many trips out are a definite favourite and we believe this provides so many different real-life learning opportunities.
We are so grateful for your feedback.

Westwards is an excellent nursery. Our eldest son attended from 1-year-old through to going to school and Westwards supported him, and us, every step of the way. Their preparation for Reception is second-to-none; they supported us with toilet habits and dressing and undressing for PE, among many other
things, which stood him in very good stead. Our youngest son is still there and the staff know him really well. He has firm friendships that are encouraged and they have developed his interests carefully - they hold him, and all the children, in very high regard. We've lived in Loughborough for nearly 10 years and we meet people frequently whose grown-up children attended Westwards. We've never heard a bad word about the place!

We have two children at the nursery with our eldest attending for over three years. The nursery and their staff put the children at the centre of everything they do, which is one of the reasons why we picked them. Their child-led approach means that the Early Years Foundation Stage framework they follow
is taught alongside the interests of the children. The nursery’s forest school is fantastic, our son always enjoys the sessions in the nursery’s dedicated woodland space and at the nature reserves they have visited. The nursery’s nativity play was even set in the forest school woodland - so despite Covid shutting down indoor venues, the ‘show went on’ and was a memorable experience. In short, it’s a difficult thing trusting others you don’t know to care for your young children. But Westwards, with their caring staff and home-cooked food, melted away those fears pretty quickly. We would unreservedly recommend them - and we do - to anyone.

My little one has been attending this nursery since they were 1 (now 3 years old) and they absolutely love going! Every day asking “Are we going to nursery today?” Westwards has a home-from-home feel, all the staff have been so amazing, encouraging and always providing a happy, welcoming environment
and have been a big part of their life, going 4 days a week for the past 2 years. Lots of activities and play every day and I love the fact that they take the children out so much, be it in the garden area, for little walks into town or to the park. Preschool children get to attend Forest School which my little one is particularly excited about starting when they go up to preschool soon! Absolutely recommend Westwards Nursery, such a great place to watch your child bloom.

I searched far and wide when looking for a nursery for my daughter and, having been part of the Westwards family for over 2 years now, I have never looked back. I'd go as far to say this is one of the best nurseries and I would wholeheartedly recommend Westwards to anyone. From the friendly and welcoming
staff, excellent indoor and outdoor facilities, education and learning style to the on-site home-cooked meals - I can't fault them. My daughter is so happy and has come on leaps and bounds in her development and has formed great relationships with all of the practitioners, as well as other children. Communication with the nursery is fantastic - I always get a detailed overview of her day upon pick up and the nursery staff are all very approachable and welcome new ideas/suggestions from parents. Westwards really is a home from home with amazing staff and a wonderful atmosphere.

We could not recommend Westwards Nursery School highly enough. We moved our son here due to the flexible hours and availability for more days in pre-school. The staff have been so welcoming and kind, they work hard to get to know each child and cater for individuals' needs. Communication is excellent

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.891 for Westwards Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.891
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westwards Nursery School is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 number of registered child places is 8.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
