Thornhill Day Nursery & Pre-school

Our experience has been fantastic so far, we are particularly pleased with the staff, management, and facilities. We think that our baby is very well looked after, and we are happy with the way that the nursery handles things and the fact that we see in great detail what happened in the day. A big shout out to the staff again who are very kind, passionate and put a lot of effort into their jobs. There is one area that I recommend improvement to, and this is the food. I suggest healthier and tastier options, under no circumstances I would give ham or fish fingers at home, to a baby, however, the other options seem to be fine. The facility is amazing, very welcoming, positive, cosy, and overall a great place for our baby. Thank you.

My little one loves the time he spends at Thornhill and has built lovely bonds with the staff which is so nice to see! He struggled at first with settling in as starting nursery can be such a big change, but the staff were so kind and patient, they always kept me updated and reassured me along the way. We chose Thornhill as all the staff have been so friendly as well as professional, everything is very well presented, modern and clean with a great variety of activities even at baby stage and beyond. Cannot thank the staff enough for all they do and for making my little one and us as parents feel so welcome and settled, my son is developing well and picking up lots of new skills every week and Thornhill has been a big contributor to that. We are updated via the app most days on what my son has eaten, nappies and sleep etc which is good. Would very much recommend Thornhill for anyone looking for a fabulous nursery in the area.

My son loves going to nursery here and has recently transitioned from toddlers into preschool. During his time in toddlers he made lovely relationships with the staff, especially one staff member in particular, who always goes above and beyond. She celebrates every success of the children she supports and the children adore her! Even now my son gets excited when he sees her, a testament to the strong connections staff build with the children in their care. A great nursery with a wonderful team of staff!

My daughter has been here since April 2023. She has flourished very well under the care of the preschool team. They helped us with potty training. They supported us during a very turbulent time and I'm so grateful for the support of the staff. I trust the staff with my child and very rarely have issues. The focus week is very helpful as it allows me to catch up with the progress of my daughter in the time she is at Thornhill. Thank you to the team.

We have a wonderful experience with Thornhill Day Nursery. The settling-in was amazing, their staff were all well supportive. My little one is in preschool now, she really enjoys all the activities and the transition/getting ready for school. The preparation the nursery offers is wonderful. The nursery offers a safe learning environment, and the staff overall are well-trained to meet the educational standards required for the early years. Very pleased with the nursery and will recommend it to any parent!

My daughter has been attending this nursery for almost 2 years. She really enjoys the preschool room and finds it a safe and fun environment, where she has made some lovely friends. She is very fond the the staff and always speaks very fondly of them.

Our little girl started at Thornhill Day Nursery last September at the age of 9 months. We loved the settling sessions and appreciated that our little girl could have as many as she needed to feel comfortable and happy to attend a full day. Although the nursery doesn't use the term Montessori, the approach they are taking and the toys and activities are very similar. The children are well looked after, for little ones they offer a lot of motor skills and sensory activities. We could definitely tell how these activities helped our daughter in her progression and growth.

The nursery have been amazing. Great communication and updates from the staff. My daughter has learnt new skills since starting and is always happy and excited to attend nursery.

The staff are very friendly they help with stuff like potty training and help my girl learn new things.

There is a provision for improvement in snacks.

We have been bringing our son to Thornhill Day Nursery for a year now, we really feel like he has fitted in and has learnt so much. He seems so happy here and runs in, in the morning. They are always so friendly and helpful.

All the staff at Thornhill are amazing. They see to every need my child has and make sure he's progressing within his age range.

I visited a lot of nurseries when trying to find the right one for my daughter, but it wasn't until I visited Thornhill that I knew this one was 'the one'. The manager was so lovely and spent ages chatting away with me, even though she probably had a million other things to do, the show round never felt rushed. I will always remember being shown the first steps room and all the kids running up to the manager and her knowing each child's name - to me, that showed how much she really cared for each child. When my daughter started the baby room in November, I was excited but also nervous to leave her. Two other ladies were amazing in making me feel reassured and understanding how I felt. I love that each morning when I drop her off, they spend time asking if she is ok and haveing a little chat with me rather than handing her straight over. I love receiving updates throughout the day and when picking her up. I'm so glad I chose Thornhill; it really has such a family feel, and I trust the staff like I do family.

My child has recently started in the baby room at Thornhill Day Nursery and I was nervous about him being with anybody else as he has only ever been with me or his father. However, the staff have been incredibly supportive and friendly to us which has made the transition a lot easier. I get daily/weekly updates about my child's day and his progress which I find very settling while I am going back to work. The menu is varied and healthy and my little boy eats all of every meal. I am delighted with the activities that have been set up in the room for him as there are lots to explore and it looks so much fun. Our child moved to Thornhill after having a rough time at his previous nursery. The staff and service here have just blown me away. From the moment we visited it felt like home. Every staff member has been approachable, talkative and friendly. They have embraced a new challenge with an Epi-pen and have been so thorough with risk assessments and keeping me informed and involved. My little boy has changed so much already in a few weeks, he has really responded well to the preschool and it's as if he's been there for years. Absolutely would recommend this lovely place!

Looking back, I have no idea why I was so nervous to send my children into nursery. Right from the very beginning, Thornhill Day Nursery & Pre-school have gone above and beyond to make both my children and I feel welcomed and comfortable. The setting is absolutely beautiful with such a wide range of toys, inside activity spaces and a large outdoor space. They have taken all of the best parts from education types and created their own way which is perfect for every child. Both my 3-year-old and 10-month-old are absolutely thriving in this setting, within a relatively short space of time they've built strong relationships with the incredible ladies who work here which is beautiful to see. To see them both go into nursery with ease and trust that they'll be well fed, supported, loved and educated in a way that suits their learning needs, and to know that I will be informed throughout the day of what is happening is something I value more than anyone could imagine.

I really couldn't ask for my child to be cared for any better, there isn't a single thing I would change about the nursery or the staff. In fact, if I win the lottery tonight, I'm stealing you all to travel the world with us to look after the children. My daughter is fed really well, the menu is amazing and she eats really well because of that. Her manners are exceptional and her development is impressive for a 2-year-old. I absolutely give you guys the credit for that so thank you.

Excellent nursery. My daughter has attended for almost a year and she loves going. It made my experience of returning to work much easier, knowing she is happy and well cared for.
