Bright Horizons Barford Day Nursery and Preschool in Barford provides high-quality childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery itself is in an old Victorian school building which has been lovingly refurbished. It is light and spacious, providing a warm, welcoming environment for babies and children. The children have access to the fully enclosed nursery gardens and playground where they are able to safely extend their play and learning.

Babies and toddlers are provided with what they need: a safe world, rich with opportunities to actively explore, with books, songs, and a lot of listening and responding to their vocalizations and words.

Their unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

Both of my daughters flourished in this setting and have made lots of friends and learnt a lot, it's great all the messy art that they do. The staff have all been great and the girls have always loved coming in, it is definitely somewhere I would recommend.

The nursery provided excellent care for my daughter. She enjoyed going and was always happy about telling me what she had done that day. She especially liked to tell me what different foods she had eaten that day.

This nursery has been amazing for my 2 girls it has given them the beginnings of being ready for school. Being secure in their confidence and independence, the learning and fun has been excellent and the staff are loving and able to tailor the activities to suit my children. We love Barford Beehive
and I am so glad to have found it.

The staff at Beehive Barford Nursery are so professional, approachable and caring. This summer, in particular, with holiday season impacting on children's routines, and my youngest joining his older brother at the nursery they have managed all of the ebb and flow with a calm and friendly outlook.


They

all know the children so well and can often provide suggestions during handover feedback at the end of the day which can really help those baby and toddler challenges at home too. Such a family feel to the establishment - we feel very lucky to have them looking after our boys so well.

This is a lovely nursery in a beautiful old building with lots of character. I have been using the nursery for the past 3 years and will be for the next 4 years. The baby room is lovely with experienced staff and I've no concerns with leaving my babies. You are very well informed of their progress and
what they've been doing during the day. As you progress into Barford Beehive Nursery you no longer have a written sheet of paper with what has happened during the day but a verbal one. I found this difficult to begin with especially if your other half does the pickup. Then they move to preschool and continue with their learning in preparation for school. There have been quite a few staff changes lately but the older members of staff are lovely and I'm sure once the new staff have settled in you will build a rapport.

Fantastic nursery couldn't recommend it highly enough. My twins have been attending from 8 months to nearly 4 years of age. I have watched them grow in confidence each year. Excellent caring and helpful staff. A well run nursery.

Coming from an education background, choosing my son's nursery was essential for me. From my first contact with the Manager, to present day with all the staff, they have remained professional throughout. The warm setting has, in no doubt, supported my son through several transitions in his home life.
When I have had concerns about my sons development, the team have given me great guidance and encouragement.
Barford are exceptional and go above and beyond their duty of care. My son has had several complex issues that has required medication on a trial and error basis and the staff have seen to his every need. I did not believe that I would have difficulty in sending my son to nursery, but alas parenting anxieties kicked in and Barford helped by reassuring and comforting me in my time of need. There is no question that I have chosen the best provision for my son, and fully recommend this nursery to others looking for a 'home from home' for their child too.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I have been the nursery manager at Barford Beehive since November 2001. Before I joined the team I was living and working in Oslo, Norway. I did my level 6 Montessori Diploma whilst working in the Montessori Institute in Oslo, where the children ranged from 2 years to 16 years. I have been in childcare for over 26 years. I am very passionate about providing an enabling environment for all children where they can develop in a safe and secure setting.


The team at Barford can all see the benefits and enjoyment that children get from playing outside. The whole team are extremely committed to ensuring that the company vision of Keeping Everyone Safe is evident within our culture of behavioural safety at Barford Beehive.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Hi my name is Lucy and I am the Deputy Manager of Bright Horizons Barford.


I have worked in childcare for the past nine years after achieving my level 3 national diploma in children’s care learning and development when I was 18.


Having worked for Bright Horizons for a few years I was given the opportunity to move to Barford and become the deputy manager in 2021. Previous to this role I spent most of my career as a room leader enhancing my knowledge across all age ranges from 0-5 years.


I am enthusiastic about creating a safe and secure environment that enables children to learn through play, providing them with opportunities to explore a wide range of experiences to support the development of each individual child.
