Southlands Kindergarten is situated on 1/3 of an acre of beautiful, self-contained gardens. The grounds include a charming Scandinavian-style nursery building, a separate outdoor classroom, a Forest School area, a gardening space, and plenty of room for children to run, climb, and explore the outdoors. The Kindergarten offers full daycare from 7:35 am to 5:45 pm and is truly a hidden gem in the heart of a small village in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It has remained a small nursery to retain its values of truly knowing the children and their families. Southlands provides an experience that not only prepares children for school but also offers much more.

The setting is community-focused and enjoys exploring the wider environment. Children venture out on the nursery’s minibus for day trips, strawberry picking, and swimming, helping to replicate the rich experiences that many working parents strive to provide. Southlands values the fundamentals - good manners, wholesome food, and the celebration of equality and diversity. These principles have contributed to generations of families returning to the nursery year after year.

My daughter is receiving exceptional care at Southlands. She is happy to be left in the morning and has formed strong bonds with her caregivers. The facilities are of an extremely high standard, and the activities offered are varied and stimulating. We love the fact that our daughter gets to swim regularly,
they have lots of outside play and access to a minibus which allows fantastic trips out. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

A faultless kindergarten. Both of my daughters have attended. The nursery is clean, spacious and offer a great learning experience. Activities are fantastic from swimming classes, Spanish lessons, dancing to name a few. All staff are kind, caring, friendly and go above and beyond. Food is nutritious,
healthy and always well balanced. My daughter tries lots of new things she wouldn't at home. Wouldn't run like it does without the dedication of Julie the owner. I will be very sad when daughter leaves for school. Thank you all.

My son attends Southlands Kindy and he loves it! He's due to start school this September and I wish I could keep him there for at least another few years!
The team are amazing and look after my son so well. I am confident that they truly care about him.
The things he gets to do each day are amazing
and he particularly loves the outdoor space - the big and little garden which are utilised in all weathers. He also loves the fairly new addition of forest school where he learns so much, and is always coming home and telling us about it.
He goes swimming every other week during term time and his confidence in the water has come on so much because of this.
He has also come on so much with his writing and can now write his name with very little help. For him there seems to now be a focus on school readiness which we really appreciate.

Southlands is absolutely amazing. My daughter left to start school this year and I honestly believe that her time at Southlands set her up so well. My son attends now and is thriving. The staff are genuinely so caring and kind, and my son loves every one of them. The curriculum is the best I have heard
of - forest school, languages, swimming, gardening, very regular trips out, and it instills such a real passion for learning in the children. I recommend Southlands's to everyone, it is a remarkable nursery.

From the very beginning, the staff took the time to understand my child's individual needs and routines.
The staff are patient, kind, and genuinely invested. My sons key worker in particular has built a strong, trusting relationship with my child and keeps us regularly updated, which has been invaluable
to me.
He is very energetic and needs to constantly burn off energy, and the staff have been so understanding of this. They don't try to restrict him-instead, they work with him. One thing that has made a huge difference is that they regularly take him outside to his favourite garden area, where he can move freely and regulate himself in a way that suits him.
This level of understanding and flexibility has had such a positive impact on him.
I recommend Southlands to everybody looking for a nursery because It's clear they truly care and go the extra mile to help every child thrive.
My eldest daughter who left in September is still missing it here and asks to come back!

Both of my daughters have attended this nursery, and there was never any question about where I wanted my second to go. It's such a wonderful place where I feel completely secure knowing my child will thrive, be happy, learn, and be safe. All of the staff are lovely, approachable, and always take the
time to speak with you. The activities and learning environment are exceptional, and the development of the kindergarten over the past few years has been amazing-it's clear that every improvement is designed to help the children flourish. I couldn't recommend this nursery more highly; it's such a happy, positive, and nurturing place.

Outstanding nursery in the local area. Thoughtful, experienced and caring staff. Wonderful facilities and they involve parents with excellent social events. They keep all parents fully up to date and the fact they take children out on a regular basis is amazing. In addition to this the food is brilliant,
I'd like to eat there daily. Couldn't recommend them more highly and they have done a wonderful job of setting both of our children up for success. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing all staff are very friendly, approachable, informative and supportive. Our little boy has come on leaps and bounds since being at the nursery.
They take the children out daily for walks, weekly swimming sessions and other activities.
The learning activities on site are second to
none.
Couldn't wish for a better environment or a better group of people to look after our child.

I was unsure which nursery to choose from to begin with but had heard so many good things about southlands and with it been local I enquired and I'm so glad I did!
My son started at the Creche in Sept 2024 and has come on leaps and bounds since!
The staff are lovely and they do so much with them
from days out to swimming and plenty of activities. I am so pleased made the decision and will be keeping my son there who will be going up to the kindergarten in September.

I cannot thank everyone at Southlands Crèche enough! I was very anxious about moving my daughter to a new nursery when we moved house, however I should not have worried!!! The activities my little girl does at nursery are outstanding! She goes swimming, out to museums, to parks and on local walks. She
goes out nearly every day she's at nursery which is huge for her development. Whenever they aren't out, she is engaging in a wide range of activities, including play dough, puzzles, storybooks, painting. I feel the practitioners know my little girl inside out as what they explain to me at pick up is exactly how she is at home (which shows how comfortable she is at nursery). The communication from the nursery is fab and they engage the whole family in the child's journey. I really feel a part of the Southlands family and I feel comfortable and confident dropping my little girl off there in the mornings.

Having read various reviews and received numerous accounts of positive feedback, Southlands was always going to be our first choice - and we are so glad we made that decision.

We couldn't be happier with Southlands. Both of our children have attended this nursery and the lovely staff and atmosphere have made us feel so at ease when leaving them in their care. We couldn't have asked for a better start to our nursery journey for our son.
Our son started at Southlands in November last year. The staff have gone above and beyond to help our son settle in and made us all feel welcome.
The crèche manager has been absolutely wonderful and so approachable. All
the staff are warm and professional and clearly love working where they do.
The children have the most wonderful opportunities which are shared on the app.
Before our son started at Southlands's we were concerned about how little he seemed to want to eat. This has completely changed since he has started nursery and we look forward to reading what fabulous meals he is given each day.
My partner and I are so grateful to all the wonderful staff at Southlands and we would highly recommend this nursery.

Southlands is such a lovely family orientated childcare setting. It is a home from home for all the children. The ladies are all great and my daughter really enjoys herself. My daughter has been at Southlands Kindergarten for almost a year, I can thank the manager, the team and her key worker enough for there hard work and dedication. My daughter has flourished and is very confident and happy. The staff have been so supportive when we have encountered issues with her sleep,
brushing her teeth and when her baby sister arrived. It is the norm for the staff to go above and beyond, even taking the children on trips right before Christmas. My daughter is making good progress in all areas of the curriculum.

This nursery is outstanding. The staff are incredible and have my child's best interest at heart. The activities that the children undertake including outside the nursery setting such as swimming and trips etc are unlike any other nursery in our area. The food is excellent I am happy my child is getting
a balanced diet.

I cannot praise Southlands and all of the lovely staff enough. They go above and beyond for every child, and the parents too! Every morning I see the children greeted with such kindest and they all leave beaming after a day filled with fun activities!
The ladies have given their all to my Son and
I could not be more grateful. He has had such wonderful experiences, which has had such a positive impact on his overall development.
I was struggling to find the right nursery for my child, but as soon as I visited Southlands I just knew it was the perfect place - if only he could stay with Southlands until he was 18!

Amazing nursery! My daughter loves attending! Brilliant staff, activities and facilities. The children eat very well. They take the children on lovely day trips. They organised an extra special day out close to the Christmas period, even though it wasn't my daughters scheduled day to attend, they arranged
for her to attend with the other children so she didn't miss out. I will be very sad when my daughter reaches school age & has to leave. I would highly recommend this nursery! A big thank you to all the staff.
