Southlands Kindergarten is situated on 1/3 of an acre of beautiful, self-contained gardens. The grounds include a charming Scandinavian-style nursery building, a separate outdoor classroom, a Forest School area, a gardening space, and plenty of room for children to run, climb, and explore the outdoors. The Kindergarten offers full daycare from 7:35 am to 5:45 pm and is truly a hidden gem in the heart of a small village in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It has remained a small nursery to retain its values of truly knowing the children and their families. Southlands provides an experience that not only prepares children for school but also offers much more.

The setting is community-focused and enjoys exploring the wider environment. Children venture out on the nursery’s minibus for day trips, strawberry picking, and swimming, helping to replicate the rich experiences that many working parents strive to provide. Southlands values the fundamentals - good manners, wholesome food, and the celebration of equality and diversity. These principles have contributed to generations of families returning to the nursery year after year.

Excellent care for children and extending to parents too. Clear and considered communication and support/tips for out of hours routines/behaviour, couldn't recommend enough.
Nursery and crèche are modern, clean and have brilliant facilities.

The best nursery in town! It's safe, clean, provides lots of great activities, with a dream garden. The staff is friendly, professional, provide support everytime is necessary. My daughter is happy there and that gives me peace of mind.

Our daughter loves her time at the nursery and that's all thanks to the hardworking staff. They keep us informed about any concerns they have for example if they think your child is unwell. There is good communication and I have never felt that I cannot ring if I have been worried about leaving my little
one, especially at the start! Our daughter has settled in very well and I have peace of mind knowing she is being well looked after.

Incredible creche and kindergarten (with a wonderfully orchestrated transition between the two). Amazing opportunities to learn and grow, in and out of the classroom. Caring staff who have the time to listen. Facilities are phenomenal and makes me want to attend! Flexible and always make time for us.
We are very grateful for the time, effort and energy that goes in to making our daughters experience an outstanding one.

I cannot fault anything. My son has come on leaps & bounds since attending nursery, he loves going. I feel they go above & beyond for him, they do lots of brilliant activities, including taking him swimming. Couldn't ask for a better nursery!

As a first-time mother, sending my baby to nursery was so daunting - how could anybody else look after the most important thing in your life like you do?!! Dropping her off for the first couple of weeks was horrible seeing her upset from leaving me. However, the transition was made super easy, and she
settled in no trouble! Now she doesn't even say bye to us, she rings the bell and off she goes. Her keyworker, all the staff and the owner are wonderful! For my own reassurance, I was able to ring in at lunch and see how she was doing, this was never too much trouble, and I have an update at the end of every day on her activities and progress for that day. The nursery takes them on regular outings, has home-cooked meals every day with plenty of snacks and works around her nap times if she needs one. She has been going to Southlands for 5 months now; She is thriving, happy and content. I will be continuing her journey at Southlands until she starts school, and I recommend the nursery to anyone asking!

Over the past 12 months, I've been thoroughly impressed with the care my daughters have received at the nursery. The staff are professional, warm, and attentive, creating a nurturing environment for each child to thrive. I've witnessed remarkable growth in my daughters' confidence and development, particularly
in their learning and social skills.
The nursery is safe and clean and offers a wide range of stimulating activities that promote cognitive and emotional growth. Communication has been excellent, and I'm always kept well-informed about their progress.
However, I believe communication could be improved with more regular updates via the nursery app. Real-time notifications on meal progress, minor incidents, and daily activities would help parents stay better connected. This would allow for prompt acknowledgement of any concerns and keep parents fully informed about their child's development.
I highly recommend this nursery for its exceptional commitment to children's care and growth.

Both my daughters have been to both nurseries, the youngest being in the baby group and the eldest has just left kindergarten.
The team, location and facilities really make this nursery one of the best around.
I can't thank the staff enough for the best start they've had in their lives.
When we've
been through Covid and had a serious lack of help from government facilities, Southlands was there every step of the way, any advice I wanted they were more than happy to help.
The team always put the children first, giving them the best experiences on offer, from day trips, swimming and people coming in for sports and Spanish, I really couldn't ask for more.
Every staff member cares and goes above and beyond, I think it's evident in the reviews and the waiting times to get in the nursery how good it is.
If you live in the local area I would definitely advise your children to attend Southlands, it doesn't get any better!

We viewed Southlands whilst I was pregnant with our daughter. The manager got back to our enquiry straight away and offered a planned visit to have a look around. We instantly felt welcome and it was so lovely to see the nursery in all its glory. We started to attend the nursery in June this year and
were given an induction of settling-in days which were so helpful for the transition. Our daughter loves spending time at nursery and we have noticed such a difference in her development since she has been attending. The staff are all so compassionate and caring, they are happy to help in any aspect and as first-time parents it is reassuring to know that the team are always so willing to support us. I can't thank everyone enough for our daughter's care, they truly are so wonderful.

I cannot speak highly enough of Southlands Creche and our daughter, who is only 15 months old, is happy to go three times per week, which says everything. I was so nervous to send her after spending every hour together for 12 months, but two ladies in the baby room prioritised attachment and gaining
her trust at our daughter's pace. They read her cues so well, that she naps when is right for her. In only three months, her development in every area has come on so much. We are reassured that she received nutritious food consistently and now that she's settled and more stable on her feet, she is absolutely loving exploring the creche's outside space.

Both my children have attended Southlands and I cannot praise the nursery enough. I really feel like the staff knows my children and understands them because of the continuity of care throughout their time at Southlands. They enjoy the trips out and talk about their experiences at home, these all enrich
their nursery life and wider development. Moving through the groups and getting children settled is prioritised. I would not hesitate to recommend Southlands. Communication is excellent via the app, especially at the moment with the ever-changing landscape of childcare funding.

A wonderful nursery!
Our daughter loves attending Southlands Kindergarten. The staff are friendly and approachable, and nothing is too much trouble for the owner.
Our child has a ‘home from home’ experience, which is one of the main reasons we were attracted to the nursery.
The nursery goes above
and beyond- supporting others within the local community and involves our children in the process- for example, visiting a local care home with cards for the residents.
Our daughter enjoys the plethora of activities offered, including gardening club, rhythm time and sporty stars. sometimes
Sending our daughter to Southlands was the best decision we made.

My son has been going to Southlands since he was a year old. The creche and kindergarten are such a great place with really supportive and experienced staff in both. They love and do an amazing job with the children and always make each day fun and educational. My son loves going; they do so many activities
with the children, which include swimming, trips out, outdoor place, and so many indoor learning activities. The food menu is exceptional, varied and nutritional. Amazing all round.

Southlands kindergarten is a fabulous learning environment for my daughter. She loves attending "kindy" and loves the staff, the food and her friends. The activities on offer are fantastic, and she loves the little trips out. I don't know what I would do without Southlands. My daughter is always happy

Great nursery for our little boy. I feel as though we are giving him the best start to life and feel lucky to have such a fantastic nursery not only in the area but also to have obtained a space on the days we need childcare. The staff are excellent and appear to be very happy, which can only be a good
thing. Staff turnover has virtually zero in the 18 months he's been there across the creche and kindy nurseries.

Words can't even describe how amazing this nursery is. The staff provide such a magical, caring and nurturing environment for the children. My child has been given an amazing start to life thanks to Southlands. I'm even getting emotional while typing this review, as I'm dreading September when my child

My daughter has been with Southlands Nursery for more than one year. We are so pleased with our choice. My daughter loves to go to nursery every day and keeps mentioning the nursery teacher's name at home.
She gets well pampered there with caring teachers, delicious food, and many activities every
day. She has been going through all the key points smoothly, e.g. weaning, talking, and potty training, with great help from the teachers. I always said this is the best money spent for the whole period. I'm very satisfied and proud that my daughter is with Southlands.

My son has attended Southlands Nurseries for over a year now, and we couldn't be happier with the nursery. The staff are fantastic and always put the children first. My son has moved to an older room, and they have been patient and given him time to settle and adjust, tailoring his transition around
his needs. We know that he is well cared for at Southlands, and this has been such an important thing for us.
The experiences the children have here are brilliant; he is always out on visits and walks and even comes home talking about the minibus now!
There is no doubt in our mind that our younger son will be joining his brother at Southlands! Thanks, everyone!

My youngest is now in crèche at Southlands, and my eldest went to both crèche and kindergarten. I have had a very positive experience with Southlands. The staff make this nursery, from the owners to each and every other member of the team. Their friendliness and positivity are fabulous, and nothing
seems to be much trouble; they genuinely care about each and every child in their care. They provide a comprehensive report of how our child has been and behaved and the lovely things they have done during the day. This includes a daily report, which provides everything you need and dont need to know (toilet habits) about their day; in addition, they use the app to provide even more insight into their daily activities. The experiences the children are exposed to are very varied, from swimming trips to the park, shopping and fruit picking - I could go on.
Absolutely fabulous start to our little one's life. Our eldest is a very confident child, and Southlands played a part in that.
