Staff really helped when he was struggling to settle. Always get lots of updates and a great handover at the end of the day. The only food I see is the tea, which is usually wraps or bagels, with ham or cheese. Not bad, but why I put 4 stars for that. It's a lot of money to spend £700 a month for 3 days a week, including the free hours we get. Not sure how this compares to other nurseries as I didn't look around and went for the one near my work. I have no complaints though, but I'm looking forward to having an extra £700 a month in my bank account! Staff are brilliant and seem to genuinely care and are easy to talk to with concerns. Great nursery. He will miss it.

Gooseberry is a fantastic nursery. Staff are personable, friendly and warm. Even staff who aren't in my child's room know her name, and say good morning/good bye. They spend lot of time outside and encouraging their interests. I couldn't be happier. I also love that the location is outside of a town, as there are so few people nearby, which feels safer to me. Communication via app is good. Food seems good and my daughter always eats it.

It's a brilliant nursery. The staff are really dedicated and they know the children really well. Activities and learning is really strong. Outdoor spaces are good, not huge but decent size and they also use the nearby grounds/airfield as larger outdoor activities so they make the best of the location.

It's a really good experience and our kids have been so happy there.

Couldn't fault Gooseberry bush at all, all of the staff in the Spikes room really care about the development and advancement of the children, they have a great bond. My son will quite often come home and show off his new skills that he learnt that day. I love how often they take the children outside, it really helps being located at an airport (we now have a plane obsessed child).

My little girl has been at Gooseberry Bush since she was 9 months old (now nearly 3) and has always enjoyed it. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and they plan lovely activities for the kids (and for parents to join in on special occasions).
They are very conscientious when it comes to allergies and injuries and I’m always confident she’s in good hands.

I would highly recommend this nursery and am grateful we found such a good one when we moved to the area.

My two-year old daughter has been attending Gooseberry Bush Day Nursery (Kemble) for almost a year and we are so pleased with the level of care. The staff are so caring and enthusiastic, making sure all children are happy and settled as quickly as possible when they arrive. Parents are kept really well informed via the app, showing the varied meals and snacks provided each day, nap times and nappy changes.

We love that children are presented with so many opportunities for outside play, craft activities and taken on little walks to explore beyond the setting. All of this excellent care is provided in the most safe and secure environment. Thank you Gooseberry Bush!

Our daughter currently goes to the nursery, so did her two brothers before her. All my children have loved their time at Gooseberry Bush and have thrived in their development. Each day she is happy to go into nursery and loves the staff, they take the time to get to know her and use her interests to lead her development.

Our child has been at Gooseberry Bush Day Nursery for eight months. Overall, we are very pleased with the nursery. The quality of adult care is high, which in my opinion is the only thing that really matters to a child; their bond and interaction with their adult caregivers. They keep us informed of what our child has done that day (any incidents) and are very willing to work with us around naptimes, potty training and etc. rather than imposing their own approach. The children always seem calm and happy at drop-offs and pick-ups. He has developed in confidence and communication.

They go outside every day in all weathers. The facilities are not particularly photogenic, but that doesn't matter to a child. The only minor issue is that our child was moved out of the baby room very quickly without transition period (due to illness) and so he didn't settle at drop-off for months. However, the nursery were then very willing to do much more gradual transition to the next room which worked brilliantly.

Our daughter has been at Gooseberry Bush Day Nursery since the start of the Covid lockdown and we are constantly impressed and admiring of what a wonderful place they have created. We feel completely confident in their standards of care, which take a practical and reassuring approach so that we never need to question or worry about her care or their decisions. They have equipped our daughter with all the skills she needs to start school this year and meanwhile she has had the most fabulous, stable and enjoyable time here for over nearly four years. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery, it is unpretentious and bursting with staff who in our opinion are heroes. Our daughter has formed a wonderful friendship group and appears to have a very kind and relaxed approach to managing relationships, which they have nurtured. We shall be very sad to leave when our daughter goes to school this year, as the Gooseberry Bush has been our unwavering guide for all these years (and she eats everything they offer her!).

With over 10 years of experience in the early years sector, I have developed a strong passion for supporting children, families, and educators to achieve the very best outcomes. My career began as an apprentice, and through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to continuous professional development, I progressed through a variety of roles to become a manager.

I hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification, a Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification, and have recently achieved the National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL). Achieving my NPQEYL is one of my proudest accomplishments and has further strengthened my leadership skills and knowledge of best practice in early years education.

My ethos centres around leading by example, being approachable, and fostering strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues. I am passionate about creating high-quality early years experiences and helping others reach their full potential.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and exploring the countryside on walks with my dog, which helps me maintain a healthy work-life balance and appreciation for the outdoors.

Vicky Williams Job Title: Assistant Manager Joined: 2012

I have worked in childcare for over 20 years and have gained a wealth of experience across a variety of roles, from working directly with children as a practitioner to managing the operational side of settings as a Business Manager. I am now proud to be the Assistant Manager, where I continue to support children, families, and staff to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Alongside my management role, I am the Curriculum Lead and SENCO, ensuring that every child receives an engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experience tailored to their individual needs.

As a parent to three children of my own, I understand the importance of creating a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment where children can thrive and families feel valued.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, making memories and enjoying new experiences together.

I have a Level 2 and 3 in Childcare and Education, a Level 5 in Management and a TQUK Level 2 in Understanding Autism.

In the sector, I have been in the following roles: Level 3 Practitioner, Senior Manager, Nursery Manager, Business Manager, Assistant Manager, Curriculum Lead and SENCO.

One of my proudest achievements as Assistant Manager has been helping to create an inclusive, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child feels valued and supported to reach their full potential. As Curriculum Lead and SENCO, I have had the opportunity to lead our curriculum and learning environments, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to meet the needs and interests of all children.

I am particularly proud of the support I have provided to children with additional needs, working closely with families and outside professionals to ensure every child can access learning opportunities and thrive within the setting. Seeing children grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve milestones that once seemed out of reach is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.

Another achievement I value greatly is mentoring and supporting staff members in their professional development. Helping colleagues build their confidence, develop their skills, and progress in their careers has been incredibly fulfilling and has contributed to creating a strong, dedicated team that shares the same passion for providing the highest quality care and education.

With over 20 years of experience in childcare, I am passionate about providing high-quality early years education that gives every child the best possible start in life. I believe in creating inclusive, stimulating environments where children feel secure, respected, and inspired to learn. My goal is to ensure every child is supported to reach their full potential while fostering strong relationships with families and colleagues.

Summer McKechnie Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2021

Growing up in a large family with three sisters, alongside my parents' role as foster carers, gave me an early appreciation for childcare. With children regularly joining and leaving our home, I developed a passion for helping care for others by supporting my mum with both my sisters and foster children.

After leaving school, I began an Early Years apprenticeship and achieved my Level 2 qualification in Early Years Education. Determined to build a career in childcare, I continued gaining experience with children of all ages while completing my Level 3 qualification.

Five years ago, I joined Gooseberry Bush, where I trained as a Room Leader. During my time here, I have been fortunate to receive excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression. I completed my Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management and progressed into the role of Deputy Manager.

Alongside my qualifications, I have undertaken a wide range of specialist training courses, including Early Years Nutrition, Behaviour Management, and Forest School Leadership, among others. With more than 10 years of experience in childcare, I remain passionate about supporting children’s development and helping them flourish.

I strongly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued, and able to thrive. By providing meaningful experiences and nurturing support, we can help children build the foundations they need for a positive future. One of the aspects I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to be creative; whether that is planning engaging learning experiences, solving challenges in innovative ways, or exploring creativity alongside the children every day.
