Puffins in the City cares for children between the age of 0 and 5 in the spacious nursery which has both large indoor and outside areas. Children are helped to play and learn by a dedicated team of staff who enjoy working with children to give them the best start in life.

The nursery is ideally located near Princesshay shopping centre and has a safe parking drop off and pick up zone for parents to make the most of.

I have been so happy with how my daughter has settled at the nursery. All the staff I have encountered have been friendly, enthusiastic and professional and are never too busy to hand over to me. I get really good updates throughout the day. Although their garden is small my daughter gets out a lot
and is regularly on trips to the park/library etc.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, from my experience.

Our family has been using Puffins in the City for the past four months.
The staff members have been extremely kind and helpful to our baby, they have helped her settle in this new environment. They also send regular updates throughout the day which makes a working day more enjoyable! Would definitely

My daughter has been at Puffins for 6 months now and is about to move from the Baby room to the Bumblebees room (age 2). We are extremely pleased with our choice of nursery for her. Great nursery! Our son attended from the age of one until he was two and a half. He loved it there. Staff are great and really care about the children. If we hadn't moved, he would still be going there along with his baby twin sisters.

Our son has been attending the nursery for 10 months now and it's the best thing we've ever done. He has developed so much during his time there, and the staff are incredible, always pleased to see him every day and show him affection and always take the time to chat with myself whenever I collect or
drop him off. He is always excited to go in every morning and often asks to go on a weekend!
It was a huge decision to go back to work, made much easier by knowing that our son is happy and well looked after.

The standard of care provided is fantastic and the activities in the "Bumble bee" room in particular are innovative and something my son really enjoys. My daughter is in the baby room and is given lots of attention and stimulation. She is encouraged to be independent and walk to activities rather than
being put in the buggy. The previous manager was fantastic at discussing with parents but unfortunately the new manager does not come out of her office. That said the nursery is well run so perhaps she is content acting on that.

My child and myself are very happy with this nursery, I find i can go to work feeling completely at ease that he is safe, well looked after and completely happy with the staff and facilities. I feel my child has a very good connection and relationship with the room leader and his personal keyworker.
He shows nothing but excitement generally when he attends nursery. I feel myself that I have a good relationship with the staff and they always take the time to update me on the days events.

Since my son started nursery in March 2015, he has learnt to walk, speak and has settled in really well with the help of the brilliant staff at Puffins. I would highly recommend them to any other parent thinking of sending their child to a nursery in the city centre.

Job Title: Childcare Centre Manager Joined: 2018

Puffins at Southernhay have an established team, led by Sasha who has worked for Puffins since 2018.


Sasha is Level 3 qualified in Childcare and is supported by her Deputy Chloe.


The nursery is spread over 1 floor with individual rooms for each age group. Children can explore a variety of different rooms, supported by caring and diligent staff who work hard to ensure every child is loved and cared for as an individual.
