What appears to be extremely poor recruitment management has led to children being kicked out of nursery just days before the Xmas holidays, leaving parents with no child care and no way to make new arrangements before their return to work once the holidays are over.

Staff at Brislington were otherwise friendly, however, our son was sent home for approximately five out of the twelve weeks he was there due to vomiting and diarrhoea. Not sure if that is common for children joining nursery after being in isolation or if it is a hygiene issue. Still had to pay for those five weeks of course.

2020 was a very challenging year for us, with our first child being born in the midst of the COVID pandemic. As a result, we were very eager to get our son into nursery so that he could meet other children and get to know other grown-ups, following essentially a whole year in lockdown. But we were also anxious about him mingling with others and whether or not he would be safe spending so much time in the company of strangers (given the risks posed by COVID). We’re really pleased with how Mama Bear’s on Allison Road has handled looking after all the children during this difficult time, and the staff have been brilliant at both welcoming our son into nursery, but also communicating with us and letting us know how he’s been getting on, especially considering the difficulties created by COVID restrictions and safety measures. Staff are always there to greet him in the morning. They are friendly and helpful and always keep us updated as to his progress. We’ve also seen great developmental strides since he’s been at nursery. He’s more confident with strangers and is much better at managing frustrations.

My son has attended Mama Bear’s at Allison Road for over 3 years now since he was 8 months old and always felt very well looked after.
The facilities and outdoor spaces are brilliant, and food is cooked on site.
He is thriving in this environment, loves going to nursery and has built very strong bonds with his peers and the staff.
The staff have been fantastic, the new manager is extremely competent, communication is great and they are all very approachable. I love getting little daily online updates on our son’s progress.

We are really happy with the care for our son, and we highly recommend them!

We moved to Bristol in December 2020 and were anxious that our son attend preschool as soon as possible, to lessen the effect of moving to a new place for him. Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) has been exceptionally good at settling him in, especially given the restrictions placed on them by the coronavirus situation. Our son has absolutely thrived at Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) and has made a good set of friends there that he will hopefully retain when he starts school later this year. He had a slight speech delay when he was younger and thanks to his learning and interest at Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) he now will not stop talking, which is wonderful! Can't recommend them enough. Plus, the food sounds delicious!

My daughter has been coming to Mama Bear's since she was 10 months old (now almost 3 and a half) and she loves it. The staff have been wonderful and really communicate with you and keep you up to date with everything and I especially love getting little observations on the app with little notes and pictures of her day and being told what she had to eat on the app!

My child loves attending Mama Bear's at Allison Road. My eldest has left but also enjoyed his time at the nursery. The nursery offers great care and lots of different activities throughout the day. Food is made on-site which is lovely. The outdoor space for each room of the nursery (each age group), is vast and well equipped. All the staff are lovely and keep you updated via an app on your child’s progress. Would recommend.

Our daughter has attended this setting since she was 8 months old. She will be 3 this spring. We have seen many changes in the team throughout her time here but the nursery has gone from strength to strength with the support of the wider management team. The management at the nursery and at the head office are all approachable and easy to reach. Our daughter has built some very strong bonds with both her peers and the staff. She is always happy to go to nursery and comes bounding out with a smile on her face excited to tell us about her day. She does a broad range of activities both adult and child-led. The outdoor spaces are brilliant and lots of investment has been made over recent months in improving the facilities with new exciting equipment for the children. We are very happy with the provision of care for our daughter.

All staff are lovely and kind, great at communication and raise any concerns or any time my child has a bump I am informed. My child has come so far at the setting and really enjoys it, she comes home every day telling us about her friends and her teachers. She really looks up to everyone.

Thank you for everything you do especially through this tough year we've had!

I was extremely worried about my son starting nursery due to not being able to actually go in the nursery myself (Covid) and the change over in management, but I have been happy with communication since he has joined. The log is updated frequently, which I look forward to viewing throughout the day.

My daughter has attended for nearly 2 years now, since she was 8 months, and the staff have always been great with the children. She has a great bond with them all and that shows me that she trusts them and enjoys being there so that’s good enough for me as that's all I want. When staff that have been close to my daughter have left they have always made a point to say bye to the children and have introduced new staff to the children well. Since going back after Covid I was a bit worried as I wasn’t sure how my daughter would adapt to going back again, but since day 1 back she has always come home extremely happy and telling us what she has done each day. The staff have adapted extremely well to the change in restrictions and the children aren’t suffering because of it. Originally it was the facilities and outdoor space that attracted us to this nursery but it’s now the staff there and I wouldn’t put my children anywhere else. They all deserve to be recognised for the great work they do!

My son has been going to Mama Bear's since he was 8 months old, he is now in their pre-school class and thriving. Communications on the parent log are consistent, arrive and leave handovers are clear, and I feel more than comfortable in giving them instructions for medication purposes too. My son enjoys his time there and the staff are absolutely lovely. I will be sorry and sad when the time comes when he has to go to big school.

Like all parents, I was very nervous about putting my 1-year-old into the nursery as I returned to work. The manager was there to answer all my questions and invited me in for a tour of the new baby room. I liked the different areas to play in. Especially the outdoor space. Staff keeps in touch really well via the app with photos, nappies and the food eaten, which is very reassuring during the day. My boy seems settled there after just a few weeks.

Both my children have attended Mama Bears Brislington and felt very looked after. I love the online updates daily and great relationships built with key workers and wider staff. Even though a lot of change we are very happy with our daughter's care here and she always talks about the key workers and managers. They cover lots of fun and messy play and have made lovely friendships with other children. The outdoor space and play areas are great! During the summer the outdoor area is fantastic, perfect for running off energy.

My son has attended this nursery since roughly 18 months old. He is now 4 and will be leaving next month to go onto infant school. I cannot fault this nursery at all, it has been fantastic in everything.
My son loves going into nursery and has made so many friends. He has learnt lots and surprises me when he tells me about his day at nursery what he has been doing and what he has learned. The nursery has lots of fantastic areas for the children. Lots to see and do. Yes, he does come home with bits of mud and paint on him but he has had fun playing and learning, which is what I like about it.

The outside area is amazing with lots to explore and lots of things to play with. My son loves the food in nursery and has never come home hungry. All the staff in the nursery are friendly, happy and amazing at their jobs! I will be sad next month when my son leaves for school. If and when I have a second child, I definitely will be using this nursery again.

My daughter (three and a half) has been going to Mama Bears since January. She absolutely loves it, she comes back happy, tells us all about her day and about her friends and teachers. They have taught her a lot. We can see a massive change in the way she is and her intelligence. All the staff are friendly, welcoming, loving and helpful.

I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone. I’m so privileged to have my daughter accepted there and lucky she has enough years there. Thank you for all your love towards her, keep up the good work.
