We moved to Bristol in December 2020 and were anxious that our son attend preschool as soon as possible, to lessen the effect of moving to a new place for him. Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) has been exceptionally good at settling him in, especially given the restrictions placed on them by the
coronavirus situation. Our son has absolutely thrived at Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) and has made a good set of friends there that he will hopefully retain when he starts school later this year. He had a slight speech delay when he was younger and thanks to his learning and interest at Mama Bear's Day Nursery (Brislington) he now will not stop talking, which is wonderful! Can't recommend them enough. Plus, the food sounds delicious!

My daughter has attended Mama Bear's for 6 months now, she loves going to nursery and playing and has made many friends. I'm confident that she is well taken care of and I am updated on her daily activities.

My daughter has been coming to Mama Bear's since she was 10 months old (now almost 3 and a half) and she loves it. The staff have been wonderful and really communicate with you and keep you up to date with everything and I especially love getting little observations on the app with little notes and
pictures of her day and being told what she had to eat on the app!

My child loves attending Mama Bear's at Allison Road. My eldest has left but also enjoyed his time at the nursery. The nursery offers great care and lots of different activities throughout the day. Food is made on-site which is lovely. The outdoor space for each room of the nursery (each age group),
is vast and well equipped. All the staff are lovely and keep you updated via an app on your child’s progress. Would recommend.

I think the staff are working incredibly during these testing times.
My son started with Mama Bear's in October 2020 and he settled so well thanks to the staff. He now loves going and has met loads of friends.

Our daughter has attended this setting since she was 8 months old. She will be 3 this spring. We have seen many changes in the team throughout her time here but the nursery has gone from strength to strength with the support of the wider management team. The management at the nursery and at the head
office are all approachable and easy to reach. Our daughter has built some very strong bonds with both her peers and the staff. She is always happy to go to nursery and comes bounding out with a smile on her face excited to tell us about her day. She does a broad range of activities both adult and child-led. The outdoor spaces are brilliant and lots of investment has been made over recent months in improving the facilities with new exciting equipment for the children. We are very happy with the provision of care for our daughter.

All staff are lovely and kind, great at communication and raise any concerns or any time my child has a bump I am informed. My child has come so far at the setting and really enjoys it, she comes home every day telling us about her friends and her teachers. She really looks up to everyone.
Thank you

I was extremely worried about my son starting nursery due to not being able to actually go in the nursery myself (Covid) and the change over in management, but I have been happy with communication since he has joined. The log is updated frequently, which I look forward to viewing throughout the day.

My daughter has attended for nearly 2 years now, since she was 8 months, and the staff have always been great with the children. She has a great bond with them all and that shows me that she trusts them and enjoys being there so that’s good enough for me as that's all I want. When staff that have been
close to my daughter have left they have always made a point to say bye to the children and have introduced new staff to the children well. Since going back after Covid I was a bit worried as I wasn’t sure how my daughter would adapt to going back again, but since day 1 back she has always come home extremely happy and telling us what she has done each day. The staff have adapted extremely well to the change in restrictions and the children aren’t suffering because of it. Originally it was the facilities and outdoor space that attracted us to this nursery but it’s now the staff there and I wouldn’t put my children anywhere else. They all deserve to be recognised for the great work they do!

My son has been going to Mama Bear's since he was 8 months old, he is now in their pre-school class and thriving. Communications on the parent log are consistent, arrive and leave handovers are clear, and I feel more than comfortable in giving them instructions for medication purposes too. My son enjoys
his time there and the staff are absolutely lovely. I will be sorry and sad when the time comes when he has to go to big school.

Like all parents, I was very nervous about putting my 1-year-old into the nursery as I returned to work. The manager was there to answer all my questions and invited me in for a tour of the new baby room. I liked the different areas to play in. Especially the outdoor space. Staff keeps in touch really
well via the app with photos, nappies and the food eaten, which is very reassuring during the day. My boy seems settled there after just a few weeks.

Both my children have attended Mama Bears Brislington and felt very looked after. I love the online updates daily and great relationships built with key workers and wider staff. Even though a lot of change we are very happy with our daughter's care here and she always talks about the key workers and
managers. They cover lots of fun and messy play and have made lovely friendships with other children. The outdoor space and play areas are great! During the summer the outdoor area is fantastic, perfect for running off energy.

My son has attended this nursery since roughly 18 months old. He is now 4 and will be leaving next month to go onto infant school. I cannot fault this nursery at all, it has been fantastic in everything.
My son loves going into nursery and has made so many friends. He has learnt lots and surprises
me when he tells me about his day at nursery what he has been doing and what he has learned. The nursery has lots of fantastic areas for the children. Lots to see and do. Yes, he does come home with bits of mud and paint on him but he has had fun playing and learning, which is what I like about it.
The outside area is amazing with lots to explore and lots of things to play with. My son loves the food in nursery and has never come home hungry. All the staff in the nursery are friendly, happy and amazing at their jobs! I will be sad next month when my son leaves for school. If and when I have a second child, I definitely will be using this nursery again.

My daughter (three and a half) has been going to Mama Bears since January. She absolutely loves it, she comes back happy, tells us all about her day and about her friends and teachers. They have taught her a lot. We can see a massive change in the way she is and her intelligence. All the staff are friendly,
welcoming, loving and helpful.
I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone. I’m so privileged to have my daughter accepted there and lucky she has enough years there. Thank you for all your love towards her, keep up the good work.

My daughter is incredibly happy here!! We looked at a lot of nurseries before deciding on this one. The outdoor facilities are outstanding compared to others in the area, the place is always clean and I genuinely believe all that work there absolutely love the children and are truly interested in their
development.
We get regular updates and pictures on the nurseries app based log which is very handy, so you can see what the little ones are up to and exactly how happy they are. My daughter has made great friends and strong bonds with the staff.
Being part of the brand Mama Bears is also comforting as it makes me feel as though they operate at a higher standard than most. It is always hard to leave your most precious with someone else, but I absolutely trust them with my daughter and know they will keep her safe.

My daughter's been going to this nursery since September '17 when she was 10 months old. I was anxious about it and looked at several nurseries before this one. At the end of our initial tour, we knew it was the right place based on how happy and relaxed the children were. There's a real emphasis on
fun and creativity, and letting kids be kids.

Our settling in sessions were fantastic and I got to know the brilliant manager and my daughter's keyworker. My daughter settled within weeks - I wholly believe this is down to the dedication and support of the staff. They really care about her and she has a great relationship with them. She comes home happy, loves all the activities and the outside area is a huge plus. There have been obvious developmental improvements already, namely her confidence, curiosity and musical ability! She has had opportunities at nursery that I haven't been able to provide, which is encouraging for her future learning. The nursery does lots of events and always involve the parents.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.482) out of 10 for Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Brislington is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.848 for Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Brislington is calculated as follows: ( (116 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.848
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.634 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Brislington is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 number of registered child places is 12.8. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.859
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
