About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 38 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
- This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 38 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 30 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

As he has progressed and moved rooms the staff have always built up a great relationship with him which has reassured both him and us each time he moved up. His confidence has definitely grown and they have also helped with his development in the activities they do and encourage. The staff are all fantastic and warm and welcoming and he loves to go to nursery which is the biggest testament to the environment they have created.
Thank you so much for this lovely review, it is very much appreciated by all the staff here at St Giles!

My twin sons have attended this nursery from 10 months old - they are now 18 months. My experience throughout that time has been excellent. The staff take huge care to help the children settle and to really get to know the children. It feels like a really genuine, passionate set of people working there who want the best for the kids in their care, and where genuine bonds are formed between the kids and their nursery staff. Throughout lockdown, the nursery has also been great - careful and very clear about what is required without losing that personal touch. I'm so glad I chose this nursery for my boys.

What let the place down though was an inconsistent approach to reporting back to parents about learning and development outputs and outcomes. Other nurseries communicate weekly progress reports by email, this one sends links for such information occasionally. The transition report for the school that our daughter went onto contained no information to assist in her nursery based developments or achievements to date. Compared to the reams of information that other nurseries passed on regarding classmates, this was a threadbare, half-hearted tickbox exercise that went only as far as revealing a favourite book.
As we say though, the staff are great and positive developments in our children did take place.

Really lovely nursery and our daughter loves it here. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and you can tell the wellbeing of the children is their top priority. They follow a curriculum suitable to your child's age and keep you up to date on progress and provide lots of engaging activities.

It’s an absolute delight and he loves every minute he spends there. He has made tight bonds with both staff and children and talks about it all the time. He is such a bright child and I’m surprised by him every day - this is down to the excellent care they provide.

As a working mum. I have found Chestnut Boutique Nursery School @ St Giles opening hours are perfect. Chestnut helped my child settle in very well. I was first impressed by the child-friendly approach in arranging settling in hours. After starting, I was informed every time when I picked up by a briefing from staff so that I know how my child is doing there. The nursery also tried hard to accommodate our needs. They stick to their policies regarding children's health and sickness leave. My child enjoyed his attending the nursery and has developed in singing, small storytelling and numbers.
I have always been impressed with how well run the nursery is, and how the staff & management endeavour to provide her with the best care. The food is good, the learning activities are great (she has come on in leaps and bounds in her development) and the environment is safe, inviting and fun....
The manager has always been extremely proactive and efficient in regards to helping me with all of my queries and is great with the kids too.
The staff are all just fabulous. I can’t fault any of them. They’re all brilliant with my daughter and clearly have her and her peer's very best interests at the centre of everything they do.
My daughter is starting school in September 2018 and I know that she will deeply miss Chestnut Nursery Saint Giles and all that comes with it. There is nobody better at looking after your children other than yourself, close family & friends, but these guys are the next best thing. If you’re considering this nursery for your child, I would 110% recommend it.

My name is Hayley, and I am the Manager at Chestnut Nursery School St Giles. I have been working in childcare since I left college where I earned my Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce, studying the development of children aged 0-19. I started working as a childcare practitioner at St Giles Nursery in 2014, which became Chestnut Nursery School St Giles in 2015. I progressed to Room Leader and travelled around the age ranges in this role. From there I became the Senior Lead Practitioner, and Deputy Manager and finally progressed to Manager in 2020.
I wanted to work with children since I was a child myself, so I am honoured to have such an important role in childcare now. As the Manager of St Giles, I enjoy being involved in the planning of activities and rooms to ensure children are provided with a stimulating environment for them to learn and flourish. I believe giving children the best start to early years will help them to reach their full potential and scaffold their learning ready for school. I have two young children of my own, this helps me relate to our families and understand the importance of taking extra special care of each and every child in our setting
