Cambourne Sunflower staff are warm, caring, fun, well qualified in education and provide a safe place for my three children. They live and breathe the values and good practice that enables my children to love their time there and develop. A really proactive effort at all levels to establish how an individual child expresses their thinking at home and nursery and amending their interaction to draw this out when at nursery. Great new app to facilitate this and lovely play spaces. From cuddles after a fall to distraction with fun to bring out best behaviour, to helpful suggestion eg focusing on lower not upper case letters to aid the transition to school. Throughout covid times, when risks were unknown, the staff were there every day as essential workers caring for the children creating as much normality as possible, implementing new hygiene procedures and enabling my husband and me to focus on our work, knowing the children were in the best place they could be.
My son currently attends Sunflower and loves his days at nursery. My daughter attended before him, and I have been so happy with how the staff have supported both children to grow and develop. The staff are caring towards the children and take a genuine interest in their likes and uniquenesses. The environment in the nursery is stimulating and engaging, and he talks all the time about the fun things he has done and the friends he has made.
We are really happy with the progress our daughter has made and she is learning so much from the staff at the nursery.
The activities they do are both fun and educational from Sygnets where they are learning to walk and built fine motor skills, to Hedgehogs where they learn numbers, colours, shapes, to preschool where he is now learning phonics and about various topics.
He always has fun and is entertained the whole day. I would say more care needs to be taken with toilet training and runny noses. Staff retention needs attention.
Overall I would recommend the nursery, it had done wonders for my sons development, confidence and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I honestly can't say one bad thing about Sunflower @ Cambourne. Both my kids have attended for about a year now. They are happy there. Have had various childcare providers including nannies and childminders before and wouldn't hesitate to choose Sunflower above all of them. Staff are compassionate and caring toward the kids, management is well organised and I can't fault the facilities.
My daughter has been attending the nursery for four months now (from the age of 11mths). She has a great bond with the staff who make a huge effort to get to know each child and build a trusting relationship with them. I can see the development in my daughter in terms of her social skills, communication and willingness to try different foods since she has been at the nursery. The staff always make sure she is happy and clean and comfortable. I have full and total trust in the nursery, I know when I pick up my daughter she will be happy, content and tired out from all the fun she has had. The meals are homemade on site, great varied menu and look scrummy. All staff from the moment you walk in until you leave are helpful, friendly and professional. The nursery works hard to ensure there is good engagement with parents and carers and takes the time to encourage feedback and comments. Really happy with the care provided for my daughter- if I wasn't, she wouldn't still be attending!
My daughter is very happy being at Sunflower @ Cambourne. She started when she was 18 months, she is now 25 months. The staff are lovely, welcoming and friendly and the management is fantastic. They try to meet my daughters needs to the best of their ability and take on board what we say to them about what she has done at home etc. Sometimes my daughter gets upset in the mornings if there's not a member of staff in the room that is normally based in there or that she has a special bond with so this can be an issue but come 9am the normal staff are always in there.
The level of safety is extremely high.
They serve very good food and good variety.
They have outdoor space and they organise different activities as well as trips around the village and forest.
In other nurseries my son was never properly cleaned while at Sunflower he is.
They really care for him and I can see that they put layers on when it is cold and hat and sun cream when it is hot even if when it happened that I forgot to bring them.
The overall fees are not cheap but less expensive than other nurseries in Cambridgeshire were staff is not qualified and the turnover is very high. However I think they have favourable charges for parents in need.
I would definitely recommend this nursery to any mother and I am a very anxious mother!!
