At Reflections Nursery & Forest School, based in Worthing in West Sussex, they do things a little differently.

At this warm and welcoming nursery, staff listen to children’s ideas and believe creativity is as important as literacy and mathematics.

The outdoors is also hugely important to the nursery and there are beech and forest schools to help children learn about their environment through investigative play, and help them to become confident individuals.

Healthy eating is key to the provision and children are taught about where their food comes from, and have a selection of healthy and nutritious meal choices offered to them daily.

My daughter has attended Reflections since she was 6 months (now 3.5 years) and she absolutely loves it. She’s always happy to go to nursery and has built really lovely relationships with adults across the nursery (practitioners across every section as well as support staff) and clearly feels safe,
valued, and stimulated there. She attends every day and has opportunities to take part in a range of enriching activities, e.g. forest school, beach school, atelier projects, care home visits. Communication with us parents has also been great - we particularly love the video diaries from Forest School and the daily photos! Thank you for playing a key part in supporting her to flourish in her early years.

A wonderful nursery that my two-year-old has attended since he was 10 months old. A beautiful setting with a great outside space and wonderful staff. He is so happy being there and has created a great bond with his carers and friends. He eats healthy home-cooked food and is flourishing. I would highly

I went to see a lot of nurseries in Worthing before I chose Reflections. I felt at ease when I got shown around. I loved the huge garden and the building size, which doesn't feel claustrophobic like some other places. The staff are all very warm, loving people who really create special bonds with your
child. My daughter still runs over and cuddles her old practitioners. She's been there since the age of 1 and she's nearly 3. The food at the nursery is amazing, and the chef outdoes himself every time. The managers are hardworking and they recognise all the children. They really create a nice culture for the staff who have stayed consistent the whole time she's been there! Staff that stick around says a lot about the nursery and the organisation of it all. The fees at Reflection are expected because of the high standard. If you want to feel relaxed at work and know your child is having fun whilst being loved and cared for, then this is the place for you!

My daughter has been attending Reflections Nursery since June 2023 and we have seen her grow and flourish there. She has developed really close relationships with those who care for her there and some toddler friends too. The staff are always accommodating when I’ve requested changes to my daughter's
routine and are friendly and approachable. My daughter's favourite feature is the beautiful garden. I love that she participates in activities such as growing vegetables and baking bread. Thank you.

My daughter attended Reflections from 10 months to 3 1/2 years. The only reason she left was that we moved area.
Reflections is no ordinary nursery. The quality of care and learning given was made evident when looking for a new nursery, many of whom said they aspired to be like Reflections, with one
saying they use their training videos. Reflections go beyond the normal expectations of a nursery, the activities on offer are wide-ranging and varied including resident artists, visiting musicians, large outside natural play areas, chickens, outdoor pizza oven, edible garden, beautiful buildings and forest and beach excursions for the older children. The food on offer was very nutritious and varied. They were also very on the ball with my daughter's nut allergy which meant I didn’t need to worry. My daughter formed strong friendships and really misses the staff, children and beautiful buildings. I really can’t fault Reflections and we have many fond memories of the place. Keep up the good work!

My son started at Reflections in Preschool 2, in September 2018. It took him a long time to adapt to the change in routine, having not attended a nursery before, but the staff were caring and supportive to enable him to settle in, and he came to love it. The extensive variety of activities and stimulus
meant he thrived through challenge and this suited his curious nature. He also attended Forest School, a weekly joy of adventure and discovery. I wholeheartedly recommend Reflections - not only does it have amazing outdoor space that the children enjoy daily, but the staff were amazing - we miss them for their care, support, fun and being just lovely. We only left as it was time for school.

My daughter attended Reflections for 3 years. The staff are phenomenal, the setting is amazing and I couldn't fault anything.
She had the most amazing time and honestly didn't want to leave when the time came. Everyone is so caring and thoughtful and just amazing in general.
She attended Forest school
and Beach school which she loved. There are so many things to do.

Fantastic nursery, friendly staff and just great environment for children, great outdoor space for children to play.

This nursery was great for both of our children and we are very sad to finally say goodbye as our youngest has now left. We loved the creative approach to educating children, along with their focus on outdoor play and use of natural resources. Both children were hugely stimulated in this environment
and have taken experiences which have provided an amazing foundation for school. Don't be put off by that lack of focus on traditional learning, they pick it all up along the way and much, much more!

I cannot talk more highly of Reflections. My son loved his time there. They cared about his happiness and development, stimulated him and kept us well updated about him. He attended both Forest School and Beach School but was just as happy playing in the garden.

My daughter has just left Reflections Nursery to start school after a very happy 2 years there. I could not have asked for a better nursery experience for her before she started school. The creative project-based, child-led activities, forestry school, collecting crab shells at beach school, fresh
air, eating homemade soup around an outdoor fire, climbing trees - what more could you want for your child? Plus the staff are fab.

I bring with me a wealth of leadership experience and a profound love for early years education, which is fuelled by a passion for nurturing young minds. We aim to provide the very best in childcare and education, creating an environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential. We believe that early childhood is a crucial time for building the foundation of a lifelong love for learning. With a deep-rooted appreciation for the philosophies of Reggio Emilia and Forest School, we celebrate a unique approach that fosters creativity, outdoor exploration, and the empowerment of each child’s voice”

Rachel graduated from the University of Brighton in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Professional Studies in Learning and Development. She joined Little Dukes as Senior Head of Reflections Nursery & Forest School in 2023, having enjoyed a career in early years spanning over 20 years, including leadership roles in London, Brighton and Worthing.


Rachel thrives on leading change management and improvement in early years provision having successfully rebranded and transitioned specialist term time provision to full day care in 2015 and setting up the very first Ofsted registered nursery for a prestigious independent school in West Sussex in 2019.


Rachel is a freelance Early Years Inspector which has deepened her knowledge and understanding of best practice in early years. Rachel is extremely passionate about providing exceptionally high standards and successful outcomes for children in early years education, creating an environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
