Orchard Day Nursery has been part of the Hanover community since it opened its doors in 1991. In 2020 the nursery expanded and opened an additional Pre-School site behind St Luke's Church.

At Orchard they are passionate about creating a lifelong love of learning and ensuring their nursery feels wholesome and homely for all children in their care. Each child is treated as an individual and is made to feel valued. They want children to feel inspired to learn and challenge themselves in an environment that is rich in experiences.

The dedicated and diverse staff team is made up of male and female practitioners with different cultural backgrounds. They use their knowledge and culture to give the children a broad range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

The nursery is in a wonderful location with Queen's Park on its doorstep and a short walk/bus ride away from the city centre and seafront. They believe in the importance of learning through real life experiences and frequently take children to the park, library and beach. The staff will also plan trips to enhance the children's learning experiences of particular interests and topics.

Our son seems very happy and settled at Orchard Day nursery. This is demonstrated by his keenness to go in every day and the bond he has with staff members.


Our son's development, as well as social skills, have increased significantly since starting with the nursery, likely due to the range of activities

on offer, as well as staff abilities and kindness.


The management has been excellent, especially with any worries or concerns we have had regarding our son's behaviour and development, and they are always very friendly and approachable. The communication with parents has been excellent, particularly over the last year with all the restrictions relating to the pandemic.


If we could change one thing it would be a bigger outdoor space, but obviously, this is not possible given the location, and they make up for this with regular trips to the local park, as well as a once-weekly forest school.


I would not hesitate to recommend Orchard Day to any parents looking for childcare

All three of my children have attended Orchard Day Nursery, from ages 1-4, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. My twins are going to school in September, and the pre-school has prepared them well. The quality of the teaching is so caring, bespoke and highly consistent. The environment is vibrant,
spacious and stimulating. They care for our children like we would want them to be looked after, and I’ve never needed to complain. The care is very individualised, and the staff are always really responsive and accommodating. It’s been a perfect partnership.

Orchard is fantastic - my child has been there for 2-years and is thriving. The staff are wonderful, imaginative and caring - I also particularly like that there are several male staff, quite unusual in a nursery.


Aside from excellent care, I also appreciate how sensibly they have dealt with the

pandemic, ensuring that they provide a reliable service to support parents and keep disruption to a minimum whilst making sure that the children still have fun and as normal a time as possible. No mean feat!

Our daughter has been going to Orchard Day Nursery for the last 15-months, and I can confidently say that it is a fantastic nursery with an incredibly caring and supportive team. We were initially drawn to the nursery by its reputation and its Ofsted 'outstanding' rating, so we were already expecting
it to be a great nursery, but it has surpassed our expectations in every way. Our daughter has developed so much through all of the support they have given her, and I would have no hesitation to recommend it to any parents who are looking for a nursery for their child.

Our daughter attended Orchard from the age 2 - 3 and was in 2 and 3 days a week over the course of the year. It's an extremely friendly, well-run nursery. The staff are very friendly and experienced, they always welcomed her into the nursery every time without fail and they are lovely people. They have
a good system for getting the kids in and out and updating you, there are lots of activities and it feels professional but it is in no way corporate - it manages to combine great organisation with a family feel. You feel that people who work there have made it their career and they really care and have pride in what they do.

Orchard Day is a fantastic nursery and I'd recommend it to all parents in the area. The manager has built the nursery into a brilliant community of dedicated staff who manage to love and care for each child whilst also undertaking a high number of educational activities every day. The facilities and
building are great and the nursery has its own outdoor space as well as being a stone's throw from beautiful Queen's Park. Our daughter (currently 2 years old) has been attending since she was 8 months and has developed her confidence, communication and social skills during her time at Orchard. I've been particularly impressed by the sense that staff are really being supported in their careers and love their jobs. We're so grateful for the high level of care - really makes a difference to our family life!

Our son has been really settled at the nursery and he has a really good relationship with key worker as well as the other staff. The nursery seems to be an excellent place to prepare children for school. The only downside is the lack of outside space and a fairly unadventurous menu. Overall we find
the nursery excellent in most respects but would like to see more outside activities and focus on good food. COVID 19 permitting of course.

We initially chose Orchard primarily because it was round the corner when we moved away, we stayed because the kids love it and we love it. My children wake up smiling it's "nursery day" and they bound through the door, barely giving me a backwards glance. They are so happy there. We love the variety
of activities, the creativity of the staff, the general affection displayed towards and the special events which get the whole family involved in nursery life.

Orchard Day Nursery is our second family. Our son has been cared for, loved and entertained, taught and fed to our standards, every single day of the last 2 years. However, Orchard has even 'outdone' itself in the month of June '20. During the pandemic COVID-19, staff has made our lives less stressful
by opening for keyworker's children, keeping high standards of safety but not compromising over love or care. Thank you for being exceptional in these historical unprecedented times!

We moved our son to Orchard after a year at a different nursery, where we'd had many issues. Finally, at Orchard, he is happy to leave us, excited to go and talks about everything he's done that day. The change is fantastic and solely down to Orchard's staff and caring, nurturing environment.

Orchard Day Nursery is simply the best! Our son has been there since the age of 15 months and he is absolutely thriving. The entire staff team is caring, approachable, knowledgeable, and most importantly, fun!


Information is communicated effectively (even during lockdown). The facilities are excellent

and the children and staff are all very happy.

An excellent nursery, that really does put the children at the heart of what they do. All staff make the effort to know all the children, even if they don't work with them directly. It's an incredibly friendly and welcoming place, my daughter loves it and feels safe and settled there. All the learning
activities are engaging and developmentally appropriate, we've seen a huge increase in the number of words and vocabulary she uses. Staff are often in touch with parents and are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

This is an exceptional nursery; caring, dedicated and highly trained staff who have the child’s needs front and centre. I have been bowled over by their approach to the COVID crisis; they did everything they could to remain open during the initial lockdown, which meant that so many key workers could
continue to work. Their dedication was quite incredible. My daughter has been attending for 2 years and my son will join her when it is time. The children clearly have a wonderful time there and my daughter has blossomed under their care. Highly recommended!

Both my eldest and now my youngest child attend this nursery. In 6 years they have relentlessly improved their service (despite being already excellent 6 years ago!). As a mother, I feel that both my children are safe, taken good care of and loved. They are also highly stimulated from the wealth of
activities that they offer. I cannot speak highly enough for their wonderful work. My daughter comes back home happy and with a lot of new things to tell me. If I had more children, I wouldn't think twice about what nursery they should go to. Thank you Orchard team for your beautiful work!

Really cannot recommend Orchard highly enough. They are just an absolutely fantastic team and we are so so happy here. Our little one has settled in amazingly well due to the wonderful nurturing atmosphere and the tireless efforts of the staff. They are so kind, caring and attentive and our boy comes
back happy and full of beans every day and has clearly been so well cared for. He has grown in confidence and we can really see his personality shining. The team were also extremely professional when dealing with the COVID-19 crisis and kept us informed and in the loop at all times, despite what has, no doubt, been a super stressful time for them. We are so happy that we chose Orchard Day Nursery!

We've had the most wonderful experience with Orchard Day Nursery.
The manager and the team have, throughout our daughter's attendance, been supportive, communicative and helpful.
They work hard to create a space that's welcoming, accepting, safe and educational.
During the covid-19 crisis, the team
have worked tirelessly to stay in touch with parents, offer helpful advice and support, and to maintain exceptional standards in what must be an immensely stressful time.
I'd like to thank the manager and the team for their continued dedication to making little lives happy.
