  • We offer 9 month, 2 years, 3-4 year funding and non funded sessions.


    The standard 15 or 30 hours of funding is stretched over 51 weeks, allowing a maximum of 11 hours ( if only eligible for the 15 hours of funding- this applies to 3 year old's only) or 22 hours (if eligible for the full 30 hours of funding) per week.


    Our daily price for food includes all snacks/organic milk/lunch and dinner- we source predominately organic produce when and where possible.


    All our meals are lovingly prepared on-site by our experienced, full time chef. She uses fresh, high quality ingredients to create a delicious and nutritious range of snacks, lunches and dinners. We cater for all dietary needs and preferences. Our menus change seasonally to offer variety and reflect the best of what each season has to offer.


    Enhanced curriculum:
    We offer a range of enriching extras that are not covered by the government funding such as:
    Trips/ Music Mike/Yoga/Forest School /sun cream- these are just some of the many added experiences we provide to enhance your child's learning and enjoyment at nursery.

My son joined Growing Up Green after we relocated to the area. Although he'd previously been in a nursery, it certainly wasn't anything as wonderful as this. He settled in within a few days thanks to the small, safe and creative environment and the amazing, nurturing staff. Over the time he has spent
at nursery, he has developed into a confident, inquisitive, chatty little boy who is certainly ready for school and that really is thanks to the nursery. He has been so happy here and I would have no hesitation at recommending it. He even asked to go to nursery when we were on our last holiday!

I have been very impressed with Growing Up Green. Our son started 6 months ago when he was 3 years old and attends a couple of afternoons a week. The staff are warm, thoughtful and professional. They were excellent at helping our son to settle when he first joined and they continue to ensure that
he is happy and involved, despite him not attending as often as other children there. They organise an impressive range of stimulating activities and seem to make good use of the outdoor space.
I’d certainly recommend this nursery.

Our daughter started at Growing Up Green when she was one year old, for three days a week. She settled really easily with the dedicated care and support the aunties gave her. The nursery has fantastic staff retention and development which helped our daughter feel settled throughout her time there. The
staff they hire are also incredibly caring and attentive and always make time to chat about children's needs and progress. The teams are great at establishing helpful routines while being guided by children's individual interests. The in house cook and healthy, hearty food helped our daughter maintain a really varied diet even through those fussier periods.
We were so sad when she left the nursery, but looking at nurseries near to our new home made us really appreciate the excellent standard of care and warm environment they provide.

This is such a lovely nursery. Everyone who works there is so welcoming of both the children and the parents, it's such a calm environment where children are treated kindly and with respect.


The staff really get to know the children and make sure they are doing things that the children enjoy.

I was worried it would be a bit small with limited space to run around in, but actually, the children get loads of exercise. There are loads of things for them to climb around on onsite, they go in the garden to play every day and they take the children out and about most days too, either to the park or even to the shop to get pet food.
Our little one loves going there and tells us about all the things they've done through the day.

Our little girl continues to enjoy her time at Growing up Green and shows positive development almost on a weekly basis in many different areas, not least of which is in her verbal communication and comprehension. The team are sincerely caring and loving and show their engagement with each child in
a very personal and intimate way that is meaningful and specific to each child's unique needs. It has been wonderful to see our girl expand her food choices and enjoy the organic meals and snacks that are provided. We would definitely recommend Growing up Green as a great nursery for their children to attend and our little one will continue until she goes to school.

Growing Up Green is a great nursery, with a lovely homely and nurturing ethos. Both of my children attended from a very young age and remained there up until they left to start school. They were both very happy and I was always more than happy with the staff and the facilities. Although very play-based,
my children both did a lot of learning while there and by the time they left were very well prepared for starting reception. Although the outside space at this branch of GUG is limited, it is used to its fullest and the children get plenty of opportunities to use it (in all weathers!), plus there were frequent trips to the local parks and the library in town. They also have the opportunity to do forest school, yoga, music sessions and other fun activities. The staff who were there when my children attended were kind, helpful and caring and formed real bonds with them. I would not hesitate to recommend Growing Up Green to any prospective parents.

My daughter has been attending Growing up Green since she was 9 months old. Since she started 5 months ago,the change in her has been incredible. The staff are all wonderful - really friendly, totally child centred, lovely with the children. My daughter struggled to settle at first but with the support
of staff she is now totally settled, loves her days at nursery and couldn’t be happier. She absolutely loves her keyworker and is now more than happy to stay when I drop her off. Developmentally, she has made huge leaps since being with them. I have total confidence in their approach and couldn’t be happier with our choice. Highly recommended.

My son has developed great relationships and bonds with the children and his Aunties at Growing Up Green. His communication skills, confidence and sociability have massively improved since joining. The site feels homely, friendly and fun. Everyone is always very welcoming to both child and parent. Creativity
is always nurtured and my son is always trying new things from setting butterflies off in the park to messy play activities. I am really happy with my choice to send my son here.

We feel so lucky to have found this nursery. As many parents, I dreaded the prospect of having to leave my daughter in the care of others for 5 days a week, but now that my daughter has been going to the nursery for over 6 months I feel really grateful for her having found another family.


The nursery

is not too big and very personal - within days pretty much all staff seemed to know my daughter by name (even those not directly working with her). Staff really seem to care about her and in return, my daughter is excited about going to nursery every single day. There are lots of toys and activities for her to engage in, and staff make sure to rotate activities on a weekly basis to keep the children engaged. We get lots of updates through the tapestry and have been able to attend drop-ins, so we feel very included in our daughter's day to day life. We've even noticed that she's picked up some good habits at the nursery (such as tidying her toys before meal times!)

Sending my daughter to a nursery felt very daunting to me (despite it only being for one morning) and I wanted to find somewhere which would feel like a home away from home for her. When I saw Growing Up Green, it felt so friendly as relaxed, and I was very confident that I’d found a great place for
her. I find the nursery to be a very personal place, and so homely. The children and their well being are obviously the top priority.
My daughter always has a huge smile on her face when I pick her up. Her aunties clearly do a lovely job with the children, and I am so grateful for them taking such good care of my girl. She will be increasing her hours to three days next month, and whilst I know I will miss her terribly, the new change is made so much easier knowing that she is in good hands.

We’ve been very lucky to have Growing Up Green (Beaconsfield Villas) right on our doorstep. Our son started in Growing Up Green at only 8 months old. Of course, I was worried and plagued by Mummy guilt.
My son is now just about to turn 3 years old and I couldn’t be happier with the care, affection,
and support the ‘Aunties’ at nursery provide for my child.


-   They cuddled him to sleep and then gently transitioned him settling in the cot.
-   All food is fresh, organic and healthy. Pudding tends to be things like baked apple slices with oats.
-   They use tapestry with lovely, detailed updates littlen’s developmental progress.
-   The kids going to the nursery are really lovely and we have made some wonderful friends
-   They are very accepting and supportive of our multi-cultural/multi-lingual background.
-   The Aunties and Uncles are very caring and kind. They look after my littlen brilliantly and form strong bonds. They also offer private babysitting.

My daughter has been attending Growing Up Green from the age of 16 months and we have been continually impressed by the standard of care.


Upon settling in my daughter, the nursery guided us perfectly in settling her and always give us detailed feedback on how her day has gone. The staff took great

care getting to know our existing routine so they can implement them where possible. All the staff from the managers to the individual key workers get to know the children; our daughter feels so at home going to nursery.


The menu at Growing Up Green is exceptional with tasty meals and the variety in the menu has helped our daughter's picky eating very much.


This nursery setting has open space for the toddlers to free play but also there is a lovely garden area too. The nursery often has crafts and seasonal activities which are much enjoyed. They also go to the park as a group from time to time. Our daughter has grown in confidence from being a quiet and shy girl when she first joined the nursery.

We decided our child would be best placed in a nursery which hold a certain standard of ethics!
All eco-friendly and organic food feels important for us as want to give our child the best start in life.
Our child is still in the baby room and just love the staff that run it, really easy to connect
with and chat to and our child really enjoys his time there.
Also, the manager is super friendly, understanding and again really easy to connect with!
These are the things that were important to us so we love it here and are happy for our child to grow up around the children who attend.

My son had 3 happy years at Growing Up Green. Their nurturing environment made the heartache of leaving him as a one-year-old a little easier. Through the 3 years, they nurtured him, encouraged him, cuddled him and helped him become independent. They are what you want and nursery - nurturing, with firm
boundaries and an emphasis on respect - for the kids, for each other, for parents. I was especially pleased with the preschool. I think they did a fantastic job of preparing the kids for school in a fun way. My son blossomed at this nursery. They are lovely.
Many people are put off by the outside space. Don't be. The staff take the kids to one of the nearby parks most days rain or shine and they definitely let them
run (whilst teaching them to stop at kerbs!).

Both myself and my wife have been delighted with the care provided by all staff at this nursery.


It is a vibrant, fun and welcoming place and although staff are busy they always give you time to tell you about your child's day.


Our first child enjoyed his time and developed so well at GUG that

we started our 2nd boy there a lot earlier than planned.

Both of our children went to Growing up Green and it is such a lovely, positive and nurturing environment and both of our children were really happy. You always know when you drop your child off in the morning that they are in safe, caring hands. They are provided with nutritional snacks and lunch.
The staff are always so happy and welcoming. I have recommended Growing up Green to many friends and relatives, and they have children at one of their two nurseries.

Adey Blackwell

Job Title: Nursery Owner Joined: 2005

I have been the co-owner of Growing Up Green Nurseries since we opened our first setting in 2005, following the birth of my first child.


I began my pathway into education and childcare when I started my teaching degree at the University of Brighton. After spending time travelling and teaching abroad, I returned to work in London as a primary school teacher, where I took on subject leadership in the Early Years with specialisms in Literacy and the Arts.


Moving back to Brighton in 2000 with a wealth of experience from working in a challenging inner-city school, I took on a senior management role within the largest first and middle school in Sussex, leading the Early Years team and lower school. I progressed to a deputy headteacher role and coordinated the SEND and Inclusion provision.


Stepping away from mainstream teaching and leadership to create an independent nursery environment at Growing Up Green has been an incredibly fulfilling endeavour. It enabled me to put my years of early years and management experience into something that I felt truly passionate about. This led to creating an enriching learning environment, developing a child-led curriculum, inspiring staff to look for awe and wonder and building a strong, nurturing community for our children, parents and staff.

Clare Crosby-Adams

I have been the co-owner of Growing Up Green Nurseries since we opened our doors in 2005.


Childcare has always been a central part of my life- I grew up living above a nursery owned by my family, which gave me a real love and understanding of Early Years from a very young age. That early experience stayed with me and shaped the path I have followed ever since.


After earning my Bachelor of Education (Bed Hons) from Nottingham Trent University, I went on to teach overseas for several years, broadening my perspective and deepening my understanding of different educational approaches.
On returning to the UK, I opened my first nursery in Cambridgeshire before relocating to Brighton in 2004 to start my family and pursue my vision of opening a nursery in the area.


Founding Growing Up Green has allowed me to combine my personal experience, professional training and passion for creating nurturing, enriching environments where children can truly thrive. It has been a real privilege to create a space where children feel safe, happy and inspired to learn every day.

I am the current Deputy Manager of Growing Up Green Nursery.


I have a range of experiences working with children in nurseries, schools and home settings. I am a qualified primary school teacher. During my experiences teaching, I specialised in the Early Years and worked in a nursery as a preschool teacher for 3.5 years. Through this, I found my love for the early years and pursued this passion by gaining my Master's degree in Early Years Education.


I am incredibly passionate about the early years, supporting children to grow and thrive in a nurturing and caring environment. I believe in a holistic and child-centred approach where all children’s needs are considered and valued.


I am the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) of the nursery, and I am experienced in supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs.
