My 3 and 1-year-old daughters go to Julia Durbin and both are very happy there. The staff are fantastic. They get lots of stimulation with all the amazing things that they do. It is so reassuring to know that they are being looked after so well whilst we are at work.

I have had two sons at this nursery. Both attended from 6 months old and the youngest is now in the Pre-School room. I am always impressed by the management of the nursery, the number of events organised and the attention to detail. In each room, there are caring staff who really get to know each child. We get good feed back on the child's day and there has always been a great variety of activities for the children. There regularly seem to be projects on the go, the children have lots of books and the Pre School children get to use an interactive whiteboard. The facilities are excellent and the children really benefit from one very large garden area and a separate, recently improved, area for the Pre School children. Additional efforts are made to get the older children ready for school and this has really helped. My youngest will move on in September and the nursery has been a great foundation. My two boys have been extremely happy at Julia Durbin.

My son has been at Julia Durbin since he was 10 months old. He's now 4 and attending the pre-school there. We are extremely happy with the care the nursery staff have given him. They have played a major role in his development and learning and I am confident that he feels safe and happy there. I am always impressed at how the staff respond to the children's personal interests and plan activities around those; they are generally very in tuned with each child's character and interests. I would definitely recommend this nursery to others.

Julia Durbin provides exceptional day care. The staff are caring and warm towards the children, and the nursery are really supportive to the parents. Facilities in the rooms are good. There is a variety of extracurricular events such as fetes and pre-school graduation too which is a great for the children, and for the parents to be involved in your child's time at the nursery. The management team are approachable and very helpful, and there is always a friendly welcome each day. My boys have been very happy here.

As a first time parent and nursery nurse myself, I felt very dubious about my son starting nursery, Julia Durbin Day nursery made me and my son feel very welcome and valued. The management team helped me and my son through a very stressful
time with settling in and often mopped up my tears and eased my anxiety with leaving my son for the first time. Whilst settling in, my son, in particular, found it difficult separating from me but the 'Butterfly Room' always made these drop-offs prompt, effective and less heart-wrenching each time. My son is now fully settled and thrives in his stimulating environment he is learning and developing rapidly and the staff always work in partnership so we have consistency at home and at the nursery.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough with its outstanding environment but above all with the excellent dedicated care conscious staff that make this nursery excel.

Since my little one started last year, she has grown a lot at this nursery. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The large garden for the little ones to play in, is wonderful and a major reason we decided on this nursery.

My son went to Julia Durbin since he was a year old and progressed through the room until nearly three.

He was very happy here and formed strong bonds with other children and with his key workers. He loves being active and running around the big garden at Julia Durbin which was a huge plus. Knowling he was happy and well-cared for made it much easier for me to return to work.

Both of my children have attended Julia Durbin since aged 8 months and my 2nd child is just leaving to start school. From the beginning, I have felt very confident and comfortable leaving my children in the care of the staff at the nursery. The staff convey a genuine interest and care for each child and have dealt very well with the occasional difficult times, like when my son struggled with the change when moving up a room - the staff know how to deal with the parents as well as the children! I like the emphasis on outdoor play. Communication from staff to parents is great, with a daily written report for the younger ones and a weekly memo for the whole nursery. Importantly this also adapts in response to feedback from parents. The admin processes are efficient and well organised. No hesitation at all in recommending the nursery.

The nursery is well-organised and well-resourced - it's in a purpose-built building and is part of a bigger network of nurseries. The staff seem well-motivated and positive (and ChildBase is well-regarded as an employer).

The response to an incident where a child tail-gated other parents into the car-park illustrated a good approach to security: parents were immediately informed of what had happened, and an extra fence/gate was in place within half a week.

Reply from Neil Brett, marketing coordinator at Julia Durbin Day Nursery (Oxford)

Thank you for your positive review and references to the incident in 2013 which clearly demonstrate two paramount priorities at the nursery – robust security and maintaining the trust of parents. Our qualified internal health and safety team continually monitor the former and we are committed to...

This is indeed a bit emotional as our daughter will be leaving Julia Durbin soon due to attending her first school in September 2016.

We have been pleased with the level of care Julia Durbin has provided for our daughter. This was absolutely priceless. We researched many daycare facilities within the area (Oxford) and selected Julia Durbin because of their high-quality development/care program.

Our daughter has made many friends and the bonding she has made with her teachers is as strong as with her own family members.
I must admit that her second family after her parents is Julia Durbin, and we will always feel very honoured to recommend this nursery as it deserves this.

Thank you again ' Team Julia Durbin ' for taking an excellent and inimitable care of our daughter and every other child. Not only from a caring aspect but also through your brilliant management process, you have made our decision absolutely correct and well taken.

Our daughter started pre-school when she was 2yrs 10 months. Having been looked after at home till then, this was a big change for her. The staff were brilliant with helping her settle in over the first few months and she really thrived. The care they provide is wonderful and one can really see the lovely relationships they have with the children. Although our daughter had three changes to her key worker this year, each transition was dealt with and communicated well. The children have the opportunity to engage in numerous different learning activities both indoors and outdoors. The gardens are spacious and well set up and the environment feels safe. The graduation ceremony they organised was just such a lovely and emotional way to say goodbye. We have always been very pleased with the learning and development opportunities, the great communication from the teams and the professional way the nursery and its staff operate. We would gladly recommend Julia Durbin to any parents.

My daughter has attended Julia Durbin oxford since 2014. They have been a real fantastic team and have been there every step of the way for my daughter. From the first day and leaving her there I was feeling so sad but to coming in and hearing all the wonderful things she was experiencing. The whole team are very supportive and very caring, they are very dedicated to ensuring every child is well looked after and made to feel safe. Over the last nearly 3 years, my daughter's confidence has grown so much and the development has been great. If I ever needed someone to talk too they were there and non-judgemental about individuals situations. The whole place and the journey taken has been such a good I will always remember them and all the love shown to my daughter and me.

Our daughter has just graduated from Julia Durbin Day Nursery having attended since she was 11 months. We have always been delighted with the care she has received and the way the nursery communicate with parents and respond to feedback. Our daughter has been happy and well supported as she has developed over the years and we feel she has been well prepared for the challenge of starting school next month. She is confident with the nursery staff and has built strong friendships within her class. The garden is amazing and we particularly love the emphasis on outdoor play in all weather. We are pleased that her baby brother is now just starting nursery and look forward to seeing him flourish there.

Saying goodbye to your little ones is never easy, but it was made much better when he seemed so happy and settled with the staff and other children at Julia Durbin. Everyone was always keen to let us know how his day has gone and the normal wobbles and bumps of learning to toddle were handled very well.

We would have liked to have the option of a subsidised place where he was and would not hesitate to recommend Julia Durbin to our friends and co-workers.

Despite being on the hospital grounds we are almost secretly hidden within a lovely natural space and a huge natural garden. I also like our entrance and reception area as we get to greet all the families and visitors as they arrive.

What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?

Our ongoing recognition from Ofsted and amazing day nursery reviews from our parents. The staff have exceptional relationships with the families and each other which leaves a great morale across the nursery. The children are the heart of our Julia Durbin family.
