They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They have an app called ParentZone which keeps mums and dads informed about life at nursery with photos of their day, assessments, meals eaten and even toilet training progress!
They have 5 Little Pioneers who help share their core values with children from encouraging them to express their feelings to making a difference in the world. They are big on happy children so they have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and take care of each other and the world.
The nursery are silver eco schools accredited, an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning.
There are four separate garden play areas that are age and developmentally appropriate. The children also have an allotment area where they learn how to take care of plants; fruit, vegetables and flowers and enjoy watching them grow. At the end of the season the children pick and taste the fruit and vegetables which are often used with a cooking activity.

About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 52 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
- This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 52 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 21.9 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

There is always new activities out, different toys to play with. I am very happy with the service they provide.

My daughter has enjoyed excellent care at The Co-operative JR (John Radcliffe) Nursery for three years and she certainly benefited enormously from the experience. The current management team there is extremely motivated and puts a lot of effort into creating a special, nurturing environment for the children. We especially liked the extra activities/events that were organised in the past year including an Easter Egg Hunt. A lot of emphasis is put on intercultural exchange and teaching the children important values.

Both me and my son will be very sad to be leaving this wonderful nursery.
My 3-year-old son has been at the nursery for 6 months now. He enjoys playing there so much, I especially like the staff, they are so friendly and I do not feel worried when I leave my son with them because I know that he is safe and enjoying his time.

One day there was a misunderstanding and I spoke to the manager, she did not let us down. I was thankful for that.
Besides that the nursery has a lot of activities and toys, I just think that the big garden needs some more stuff for the children to play with, not just some bikes but maybe some outdoor toys like slides etc... As they spend a lot of time out there.
Excellent care provided by all members of staff. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The children are very happy. Excellent education programme and programme of activities.

All the staff are happy and cheerful. My child loves it here and can't wait to go. She's told me she 'never ever wants to leave'. Shows exactly how I feel.
Love the fact they do lots of activities.

My children have both been very happy at the nursery. The opening hours are very good (the most flexible I know of locally). The staff are all very friendly and seem to genuinely love the children. Staff retention seems better than at other nurseries and my children enjoy the stability of this....

Staff retention seems better than at other nurseries and my children enjoy the stability of this. My children adore their key workers and it is for this reason that I am frustrated that staff seem to just disappear rather than letting the families know that they are leaving.

I chose the nursery based on how friendly and warm the staff were towards my daughter and she has loved being there. The nursery is well managed, the staff are really engaged with the children and I would highly recommend to any potential parents.

I was apprehensive about putting both of my children in childcare but actually found it beneficial to the development and social interaction of my children. The Cooperative at the John Radcliffe in Oxford, despite it facing retention and recruitment issues (due to this being the most expensive place to live in the UK and the low value that is placed on the vital work of childcare, leading to the comparatively low income that these nursery nurses earn) was a lovely place for my children. They were genuinely cared for and I am sad that they had to leave as we were moving away.

My son has been at The Co-operative Childcare Oxford (John Radcliffe) Nursery since 2014. It has always been a positive place that we have both been happy with. Last year, after a management change there was an uncertain time, with a high turnover of staff. Now under new management and a big refurbishment, it seems in a very good place. The staff and children seem happy and settled. The environment has improved and a good vibe flows through the nursery. There seems to be a good focus in numeracy and literacy, as well as interests in culture and festivities. Role on the spring, so the newly revamped outdoor space can be fully explored. My son is happy and I am a happy Mummy....
