The Review Score of 7.3 (maximum of 10) for Millennium First Steps Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Millennium First Steps Nursery in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.25 for Millennium First Steps Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.25
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 3.043 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millennium First Steps Nursery is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 = 3
Target of 23.2 positive Reviews (116 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 23.2 Target = 0.043
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Good nursery, staff are caring. Staffing changes are not communicated well though e.g we only found out who our daughter's key worker was when we attended parents evening. It would be good if the outside space was bigger but the equipment seems good. More messy play for the younger children would be good.
I know the staff clean up after meal time but the nursery always looks a bit grubby round the edges. Overall, happy with the nursery.

Thank you for your feedback. We employ professional cleaners who visit the nursery daily after close and at the weekend for deep cleaning. We are under a constant refurbishment programme but this takes a while as work cannot be carried out when children are in the nursery. We are glad your child has enjoyed their time with us!

We've been sending our daughter who was 7 months old when she started, and we're very happy with the nursery. Her settling in was difficult and took time, which was very hard for us first-time parents, but her key person handled it very well with confidence and all the staff members were supportive.
Outdoor space may be on the more compact side and its building may be a bit old, but has plenty of room inside for children to explore and play with various kinds of toys. The range of activities available in baby room (inside and outdoor) is great. We see our daughter developing and thriving, both physically and socially, probably at a faster pace than if she stayed at home.
Now at 10 months she goes in happily (most days) and it's a real pleasure to pick her up and get feedback for the day on how she was and what she did. We're very grateful for all the effort and affection by the staff members and we won't hesitate to recommend this nursery to anyone - especially with its very competitive fees and proximity to the station.

We already have one child at First Steps and are very happy with her care, but have recently started our second child there. She was 11 months when she started, now a year old. We have been amazed at how quickly she has settled in. Our older daughter was much older when she started so we didn't know what to expect, but it has been a rapid transition, during which we have felt very comfortable and supported, and have had no doubt about the care she has received. We feel entirely comfortable leaving her with the team who have made an effort to get to know her and seem very gentle/affectionate. Particularly impressed with room leadership. Teething difficulties (adjusting to routine) handled well. Very impressed. Our daughter is happy, stimulated and relaxed there. All very good.
