Review submitted from a Website Submission by Vincent (Father of Child) on Wednesday 22 June 2016. Relates to May 2016.
My child was at this nursery for nearly 2 years. It never had the best facilities but was one of the cheapest locally. The staff turnover is high. The facilities, toys etc are old and dated. Initially my child would take home stuff but that stopped.
There was no interaction or structured play or learning activities and the children played amongst themselves. Food was poor quality and mainly processed food. Our child did want to attend and on occasions cry when it was time to go.
We raised our concerns with the management and was informed that if we didn't like the service we could leave. We were also accused of being abusive and insulting and our place was terminated by post with 18 hours notice leaving us short of child care for 2 weeks. I thought this was highly unprofessional and felt like bullying.
We have since changed our childcare and our child is happier and the change has been very positive for her. The new childcare has made us realise how poor this nursery was.
How likely would you be to recommend Small Wonders Day Nursery, Pre School & Out of School Care? Unlikely
Overall Standard: Very Poor
Facilities / Outside Space: Very Poor
Resources / Equipment / ICT: Very Poor
Food / Nutrition: Very Poor
Management: Very Poor
Value for Money: Satisfactory
Sarah Verney, Director at Small Wonders Day Nursery, Pre School & Out of School Care responded to this review on 30 Jun 2016:
It is very easy to write a review about our establishment when you have been asked to leave because you continually accrued substantial arrears for your childcare fees. It is a shame that there is not a facility to attach a copy of your account over the last two years detailing your appalling payment history and yet we continually cared for your child. Your child attended the nursery from September 2014 to August 2015 and then attended After School Club in 2015 until May 2016. After repeatedly chasing you to pay on time your child's place was revoked. We have been inspected by Ofsted (28 October 2015) and the Grade Awarded was Good. We emphatically disagree with your outrageous judgements and encourage anyone to read our report which highlights the strong focus on children leading healthy lifestyles. The nursery operates an open door policy for visitors which we welcome.
