The Bourne End Day Nursery and Preschool (previously Poppies Bourne End) offers a warm and friendly welcome where children aged 3 months to 5 years enjoy inspirational learning experiences.

The nursery, which opened in 2006, is situated in a beautifully converted Methodist Church in Furlong Road and is spread across two floors.

The setting offers a cosy home from home environment where children are nurtured from baby room through to preschool. Children build strong bonds with the practitioners who help them grow into confident young learners.

The nursery has a close parent partnership and families are updated daily with photos of their child’s activities, so they have wonderful memories of their time at Bourne End.

Both of my children enjoy their days at Poppies. The staff are excellent and the children seem to be constantly provided with new activities and learning opportunities.

My daughter is nearly two years old and has been attending Poppies since December 2016. The staff at the nursery were amazing at helping her settle into the Little Explorers and she is now always excited to go to nursery. Her speech development has improved and her social skills since attending. She
loves all the staff and will talk about them when you mention nursery. Every day they do different activities and often try to get outside as much as possible. The food is great and varied. We are so happy with our daughter at Poppies and know she will continue to learn and grow while being there.

Poppies Day Nursery Bourne End is a wonderful place. The staff are caring, professional, attentive and friendly and they all have the same priority - to provide the children with a caring, safe, happy environment.
My 2 year old son has been at Poppies for just over a year, he loves it. He has formed
a wonderful bond with his key worker and he is developing lovely friendships with the other children. The food he is given is freshly prepared and they offer a great varied menu. Poppies provide a varied day of activities for the children and also have companies such as Melody Music come in and offer singing and music sessions with the children, my son loves this. I can see he is happy and content and really enjoys being there. We are so pleased that we chose Poppies, it isn't the closest one to where we live but it's certainly the best nursery we visited and we looked at many!
The staff operate very much as one team and this shines through in the quality of childcare they provide.

Supportive to parents. Always welcoming.
Excellent care. Great mix of activities.
Have never felt concerned about leaving my daughter at the nursery.
Any questions or concerns we have had have always been dealt with well.
The majority of staff that have cared for my daughter over the years have
been excellent. We will be sad when it is time to leave for school.

Both my children have been through their early years at Poppies in Bourne End. They have been happy, settled and very well looked after. My son has only a few months left now and I know it will be a sad day when he leaves.
I have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Poppies. My children

My daughter has been at Poppies for almost a year after previously being with a childminder. She settled in very quickly and thoroughly enjoys going to nursery. The staff at Poppies ensured the transition between rooms has as little disruptive as possible and I can't praise them enough. The days are
varied with lots of fun activities and the meals well balanced and planned.

My daughter has been at Poppies since she was 18 months old and the change I have seen in her over the past 2 years has been amazing due to the wonderful staff at Poppies. She joined as a very shy, clingy child and with the persistence and patience of the team at Poppies she now skips happily into nursery
and I never have to worry about her whilst she is at nursery.
The nursery setting is a perfect size, it has a lovely homely feel and great garden, the nursery staff take the children out on a regular basis and the children are kept busy with various activities all day.
I am so happy with Poppies, that we even put my second child into nursery before he turned one as he enjoyed visiting the nursery from day one.

Our son has settled really well at nursery (he was 11 months when he started) and I think this is largely because of the well planned, thoughtful and caring approach taken by the staff at Poppies Bourne End. He is even pleased when we arrive.
They have contacted us when necessary, if he's been unwell
etc.
We have had real difficulty at times persuading him to nap - but from the beginning they were able to help him sleep.
He also clearly really enjoys the food they give to him.
It is hard to trust anyone in this situation but Poppies have done everything possible to gain our trust.

I searched for a while for a nursery I felt would be right for my first born and then found Poppies in Bourne End! It was the staff, who all had welcoming smiles, bags of energy, care and interest in the children and their welfare. That was in 2015 February and nothing has changed! My boy is part of
a family at Poppies and this gave me the confidence to return to work and trust he is in safe, caring hands!

My son attended Poppies in Bourne End in 2013-14 and now my daughter is there. She started in the baby best and is extremely happy. All the carers are lovely and are very good with all the children. She has recently moved up to the Little Explorers room and settled in very quickly. She is also making
good progress in all areas of her development, helped by all her carers. We are very happy with Poppies and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

My child attended this nursery from 10 months until 4 yrs old until they were ready to go to school.


I immediately warmed to the nursery when we first visited as I felt it had a traditional feel about it. All the girls who work in the nursery are lovely and really care and bond with the children.

I visited other nurseries before I made my decision to put my child in Poppies Day Nursery.


The children are fed well and do lots of activities throughout the day. The garden environment is also good with a separate area for the babies.


The only downside is the parking at pick up times but it's the same issue at most schools as well.

My daughter has been happy at Poppies from when she started aged 1 until now. They have many wonderful staff, I feel confident and happy that she is in their care. They teach the children lovely manners, respect, and encourage their development at every step, there is a good variety of activities.
I feel that they respect and support my wishes and priorities as a parent. The manager is excellent and inspires total confidence, I've appreciated the flexibility shown over the years and always felt communication has been good.

My daughter has been going to Poppies Bourne End since she was 10 months old, she is now nearly 3 years old. She has received excellent care throughout this time, and I'm sure her development has been much assisted by attending Poppies nursery. She has become a sociable confident little girl. The staff
have particularly excelled in managing our daughter's severe allergies and I have total trust that they will safeguard her in every way. She has made lots of lovely friends, both with the staff and the other children. I can't fault them.

Poppies nursery Bourne End has provided my child with a safe and fun environment during the week whilst we have been at work. She has attended the nursery since she was 2 years old and has loved every minute. The staff are friendly but firm with children so they have lots of fun whilst knowing the boundaries.
The day seems to be packed with fun activities, and my daughter has particularly enjoyed the PE sessions run by an outside coach and the daily painting and other crafts.
The outside space at the nursery is great too, with babies and younger toddlers having their own area.
I can't speak high enough of the staff at Poppies and would recommend this nursery in a heart beat.

My son has attended Poppies for 3 years. I have always been very happy with the care and education he has received. He is always talking about what he has learnt at nursery and the staff who look after him, especially his Key Carer, who he loves!


The whole staff team are very friendly and welcoming

and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting.


The nursery garden is a brilliant space, I like that my son spends so much time outside burning off some energy!


I would highly recommend Poppies to anyone looking for a nursery.

I have used Poppies BE for my first child who is now 7 and I was always impressed with the quality of the staff and the loving care and attention they gave to my child and all the children. I think the system they have in place of moving classes gets children ready for their time at school and gives
them the independence that they need at certain ages. I also love the fact that now we are back using Poppies so many of the staff are still there so plenty of friendly and familiar faces. I cannot recommend Poppies and their ethos enough.

Hello, my name is Jo, I have a BA honours degree in Early Years practice and a wealth of knowledge and experience working with children in pre-school and nursery settings for the last 16 years.


I took on a role at a local preschool providing one-to-one support for a child with additional needs. Since then, I have dedicated my time to working with children and their families, ensuring exceptional care tailored to each child’s needs. I am passionate about their development and providing a broad variety of experiences for all children.
