Abacus Nursery

My daughter has attended Abacus full time for the past 3 years. Every day I know I'm sending her to a safe, caring, and happy environment. The management team at Abacus are impeccable! I really cannot fault them; even on the odd occasion I've had a moan I've seen the matter addressed extremely swiftly. The staff turnover is low, the nursery clearly supports the personal and professional development of their staff, and every one of them care about every child that attends. This only adds to the consistency of care that my daughter has had in her time there; I sometimes wonder who she would save in a fire, me, or her Abacus teachers, and I'm not sure I want to know the answer. I still have 2 children who attend and I've no doubt Abacus will help them to blossom into happy miniature adults too.

Couldn't ask for a better nursery to send our son to. Our son goes to Abacus full time and absolutely loves his time there, always excited to go in and the staff are always so helpful and accommodating. Our only downside is the cost of the nursery in comparison to others in the area.

Cannot thank the staff enough for having my daughter for the last 2 months. I would love to keep her here indefinitely and the ONLY reason I'm not is due to the cost of doing so. But the staff are incredible, the space is lovely and my daughter has absolutely thrived here. I started sending her when I returned to work and she was 14 months old. The staff made the transition easier than expected and my little girl talks about them all the time!! She has the best days at nursery and can't wait to go (even asks to go on weekends!!). Her confidence, character and ability have all grown tenfold.

Generally very good. Both our son who is in his last year and our daughter who is in her first year always have fun days at Abacus.

My child has been in this nursery since he was 1 year and one month. The staff have made him feel really welcome he was upset at times but the staff supported him with that. This nursery is really good the staff are amazing the manager is really nice you can talk to her about anything.

Abacus has been a very good nursery. The staff have been caring towards my daughter. The food cooked has been healthy and cooked freshly on site. I get the impression my daughter has eaten good quantities of nutritious food. There have been plenty of activities; craft/playing in the garden/reading time/playing with toys so I feel it has been a good level of stimulation for learning through play. I would have liked it if the nursery had done a bit more teaching of writing letters and reading but understand that this was largely left for school.

I cannot thank the nursery enough for giving my child the best start in life. The care, attention to needs, and enthusiasm the staff have are like no other. They do look at the individual and tailor teaching accordingly and I have no worries about them looking after my child. I would highly recommend this nursery.

All of the staff go above and beyond, and I feel like we have the royal treatment, but the fact is that everybody receives that! They're truly a gem to Newbury!

Our son loves this place. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, open and respectful, they keep us up to date with his progress and as parents, we really appreciate that. The activities with the children are brilliant, the outdoor time is very beneficial for the children and the food is also great as the little eater confirms. This nursery was the best choice we made and we can see it in his development. couldn’t be happier!

The first time my son came to Abacus I was worried about him as he didn't speak too much. When he comes to pre-school he develops everything so quickly. He started to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits which is difficult for kids. The team is very friendly, helpful, patient and kind. My son all time remembers all of preschool. He loves to come back to take his sister. Now my daughter is in preschool. She is there and so happy, learning everything she needs at her age. I had no doubts about enrolling my daughter in this preschool. My son has great memories from last year. If anyone is wondering whether to enrol their child, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

My daughter is very happy going to Abacus and loves the staff. It's a family feel with great communication (lots of updates on the app). They have lots of activities, outside time and crafts. They are flexible with diet requirements and were very helpful during the settling-in period regarding sleep and transition away from breastfeeding during the day. My daughter has lots of fun and I feel very comfortable knowing she is being looked after well during the day. The manager is very helpful, and the staff have created lovely bonds with our little one. The food is nice homecooked food.

My daughter started attending The Nest at 9 months and now attends Pioneers for the past year. The staff is absolutely brilliant! My daughter loves the nursery and the nursery offers so many thoughtful daily activities helping with children’s overall development. Parents are kept up to date on a daily basis.

My son absolutely loves this nursery, he is always so happy to go in and the staff are so warm and welcoming. They send out regular updates throughout the day which is great to see. The activities they get up to are very varied and the food they are given is always very nutritious and they are really respectful of diet preferences. Management have always been very responsive in emails and very helpful.

My child loves coming here, she has a great time and always goes in with a big smile on her face. Everyone who works at the nursery is so friendly and welcoming. I love receiving the updates throughout the day showing what activities they have been doing.

Our daughter loves going to nursery here and it’s clear to us how beneficial to her development attending has been. The staff are all really lovely, caring, and helpful; the nursery manager particularly has gone out of their way to be very helpful to us and our daughter absolutely adores her key people.

We were very apprehensive about sending our little boy to nursery with him being a ‘lockdown baby’ as he’d never been left alone with anyone other than ourselves and his nanny. All the staff at the nursery were so understanding and ensured that we were supported all throughout the transition period, and did everything they could to help us feel comfortable whilst we worked with them to get him settled in. Communication is great, and we are kept updated on his progress every step of the way. The app is fantastic and a great way to keep parents up to date throughout the day, without the need to call in and check how the little ones are doing in the beginning! He has now been at the nursery for nearly two months and really enjoying it. We have noticed that since attending nursery his social skills and speech are coming on in leaps and bounds and his confidence is building every day! We are so pleased with the care provided by all the staff, and really couldn’t be happier!!

Choosing a nursery for our daughter during a pandemic was extremely hard, understandably restrictions meant that we were only able to meet 1 member of staff and view the facilities after hours. I felt that I was handing my child over to perfect strangers without seeing how they interact with other children. However, we met the nursery manager and saw the facilities available and decided to go ahead and secure a place. After 2 x 2-hour settling sessions, our daughter started 3 days a week at the beginning of March 2021, this is a child whose entire life has been subject to social restrictions and not overly socialised! Within 3 weeks she was reaching out for the staff at the door and happily being handed over, the team in the Nest (under 2s) have been so compassionate and understanding that the transition going back to work, which gave me sleepless nights, has been so much easier than I could have imagined. I am so happy with our decision and thankful for the staff.

Abacus Nursery is amazing. Communication is great and they are very dedicated and very approachable - they have been amazing with helping me sort out my son's next steps. And are always happy to accommodate any changes we need to make. They are always smiling and ready to help - and have the children's best interests and individual needs at heart. My son loves being here!

Abacus Nursery is the best nursery I have ever sent my children to. The staff are very dedicated, committed and approachable and nothing is ever too much trouble. They are very child centred at Abacus Nursery and have shown real compassion and understanding about my child’s individual needs. The staff are always smiley and the communication between the nursery and parents is amazing. My son loves attending the nursery and his development has skyrocketed since attending there. They always carry out loads of activities and learning experiences with the kids and I really can’t find anything to fault them on.
